No, I just doubt that the PS4 version will result in a massive boost for the game's total sales despite the console's success, because there doesn't seem to be a lot of overlap between the PS4's current userbase and the Persona fanbase.

That being said, I think P5 could attract a fair bit of new fans among people who typically aren't interested in JRPGs, and that the PS4 version would make it a lot easier for them to jump in. As a location, Tokyo has much better mass appeal than Iwatodai or Inaba, there are guns and cover mechanics, and heists are a more exciting story element than a weird tower that appears at midnight or a murder mystery in the countryside.

I don't know, honestly. It being on PS4 is a pretty huge deal for me even as a big fan of Persona. I like the series enough to stomach a new PS3 game, but I feel that most people really just don't want to buy new games for their old consoles anymore.

Not happening anytime soon. SEGA has no control over Atlus' business and going by the rumor, it seems SCE has or are helping (either financially or technically) the Persona Team (and possibly Atlus too for the marketing) to get this game made. Also, take into account that the Persona Team are console-exclusive development studio. We are not talking about Square, SEGA or Capcom here.

While I generally don't disagree, it should be noted that the past year marked the rise of some previously-thought unlikely ports with console-focused developers like Idea Factory, Compile Heart and Acquire bringing their games to PC.

I really doubt many of that audience only plays destiny or GTA, given that they are not exactly CallOfDuty/Madden franchises of "annual event"

I agree with you, but being released quite "early" this gen, on a very popular system (and maybe before FFXV), which happens to be also the go-to for most JRPG fans on the long term, it could easily become the best selling Persona game ever.

I probably will, but it's mainly because of the remote play feature. Persona (and meaty JRPGs in general) feels best on handheld to me.

Not going to buy a PS4 for this. It's coming to PS3, so there's no point in spending an extra $400. I probably won't buy one until Kingdom Hearts III unless the library situation really changes before hand.

I don't think it'll replicate FF7 simply because of the time periods.

However, if P5 manages to get more out-of-the-box-thinking turn-based games made by developers, I'd be down for that.
