Persona 5 New Trailer

I just saw the trailer.

I'm more hype for P5 than FFXV. Please tell me I'm not alone in this.

Seeing this trailer made me realize that Persona has basically replaced Final Fantasy for me. I felt almost nothing watching all the FFXV trailers, while I couldn't stop thinking about the P5 trailer since I saw it this morning. Haven't felt that way about an upcoming game in a long time.

You don't believe P5 could have that kind of effect?

In today's world where big console JRPGs are almost as good as dead, than this game comes along.

I think it's very possible. Sony just needs to be aggressive with the marketing like they did for FF7.

I don't see it being an industry-redefining revolution and selling 10 million copies like FF7, but it's definitely going to be fucking huge by non-Final Fantasy JRPG standards. P5 being the best-selling JRPG not published by Square-Enix in history is a pretty safe bet.

Yup. FFXV is honestly something I'm not too hyped for anymore. I'll definitely play it come release time but I'm not really hyped for it.

So, instead of dissecting the trailer to find stuff people haven't found yet, people decided to do the dumb "P5xFF" discussion... And I thought Xenoblade threads were starting to get bad. I hope they don't show any character with cleavage, that would make future threads unbearable.

Anyway, I hope Gamexplain still makes an Analysis video after the discussion, they're one of the few people still making them.

nice. i have to agree.

Is it easy to jump in on these games for the first time? I love rpgs. And this looks amazing. Might get a ps4 for it. Hopefully I also get to convince my friend to lend me his vita and P4G. To have an idea of what to expect

Has anyone from Atlus seen this thread? Shit, someone should tweet at them to let them know the thirst is real.

Like damn, posted in here like around page 30. I come back now its 86? Shoot, I'm gettin even more hyped with all the attention it's receiving, haha.

3 and 4 were solid but ultimately forgettable games,

Persona 1 and 2 are skipable, IMO (2 is debatable)

Play Persona 3 FES and P4G. Both awesome games and it's possible P5 will reference or throw in some easter eggs about them similar to P4G with P3.

Neither Orpheus nor Izanagi were collectible in previous games, right? (Izanagi was in Nocturne though, but still not in a Persona-series game)

I think the MC Persona will be unique. Just a guess, unless they switch from the Wild Card power.

Other persona's got redesigns because they were on a playable character. For example Susano-o, and Kanji's persona were both obtainable in P3 with different designs

Isn't P3 for ps2? I would not be able to play it. I'll see if I'm able to try out P4.

The thirst is real. I'm really glad this is out for PS3 as well. I don't wanna buy more consoles.

So, the main character wears a cloak, has a persona with a top hat, and uses knives as his main weapon?

Hmmm, gee, who else had those things?

Oh yes, Jack the Ripper.

Well, he does have 5 crossed out hearts on his visible shoulder, with 5 being the amount of killings people believed were definitely connected to Jack the Ripper. But that's probably just what's visible.

You can get both of them through download on PS3, and if you have a vita you can get Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden. And regardless, the games are standalone. The Persona 3 cameos in persona 4 were incredibly minimal

Heeeey...

I've never played a Persona game, and I don't really like anime high school stuff. But I loved Catherine and Trauma Center. Should I look out for this game? :0

Thanks guys. And again, to be sure. If I start with P4, I don't need to know much about previous entries right?

No but if you want to play their spinoffs, which work as a continuation of the story, you do. Persona Q and Persona 4 Arena are crossover games of Persona 3 and Persona 4.

I'm going to get started on P1 and P2 since I've only beaten 3 and 4. Ahh the hype buildup.
Mmm, I guess they are similar in that both are fashionable-looking girls sporting twin-tails. However, there is quite a lot of that type of a character that Junko is not what came to mind when I see Anne.
Of course, it's just commenting on design and nothing more. Her design is already one of my favourites in the series.
-They're both girls
-They have pig tails
The school outfit too.

Ryuji has blonde hair and looks like a delinquent. Ryuji is Kanji confirmed.

The Junko comparisons are not funny and pointless.
Who said they're meant to be funny? I like Junko's design so I also really like Annes.

Eh, I would start with FES first, personally.

The references in 4 are minimal but you will really appreciate those scenes more playing 3 first.

One last thing, both me and my brother love rpgs. We usually play the same things. From trailers and gameplay I've seen they don't seem too mature or anything, yet they have M rating. Do you think the game would be good for a 14 year old? I mean, what's so mature about it

It has mature themes. Not really mature in a sense with lots of blood or gore or anything like that.

Also some cursing here or there.

People should probably try to play Persona 3 Portable if they want to play 3. Then they won't have to deal with the awful gameplay decisions.

The high school stuff is much better than most examples. You should give the series a shot.

Oh god... Persona Q. Down the rabbit hole you go. After that game I had to go track down Etrians.

I can only think of this as a good thing. And as for the spinoffs in general, they're all good, but the arena games being fighting games are a considerably different experience, so keep that in mind. That said, anyone who played and loved P3 and P4 should try out Persona Q if they can, it's fantastic and the fanservice is great (Although I'd recommend putting it off if you haven't played both of them until you have)
