The fuck? No, it's not.

Maybe some of its ripped-from-the-headline-inspired episodes are hit and miss, but the show is fucking awesome otherwise. If you're just basing your comment on this particular episode's buzz, then zzz. It's easy to cringe at anything with video games as the central plot because it's usually pretty bad.

When SVU is good, it's really good. Some amazing episodes throughout its lifetime.

Stabler will be forever missed ;_7

I recite the intro out loud in tandem with the announcer when it plays. Every time. Even the sound effect. I never skip the intro.

SVU has not been good in years. I guess I don't watch it consistently, but every one I've seen in the past 3 years are pretty horrible. I love the reruns though.

EDIT: Thinking back, I actually haven't watched any of probably the last two seasons, though. So I can't really speak for those, I guess.

It's based on the Elliot Rodger case, including scenes where the title character gives his MRA speeches to a camera. Yeah, his name is Holden. Real subtle isn't it?

The ripped from the headline episodes are the worst. They put in like five different stories into one for no apparent reason. Just a few weeks ago they did a Shia LaBeouf/James Franco one and last season a Donald Sterling/Jay Z Solange elevator attack.

The problem is that they just use the terminology of GG without any commentary (haven't seen it yet, but I doubt they'll make any sort of message with it) on it. It's just an empty shell with no substance other then the gunman saying something like "you're gonna be slaughtered" or some other dumb video gamey things people think gamers say.

Given just how much Gamergate likes to draw analogies between what they're doing and video games, I'll give the writers a pass this time.

The episode itself just looks horrendously uncomfortable. A fictional parody of Anita Sarkeesian is kidnapped, tied up, undressed, and menaced. No thanks.

Goobergate has pretty much done that already.

But if history is a guide, GG will likely think it promotes their cause. Colbert practically endorsed GG according to a few GGers. Unless they've taken a large dose of reality, I wouldn't be surprised.

Judging by the events and the clip (not the preview) and the way these shows work I'm going to bet it's the boyfriend/husband character that has been egging on the crazies after he found out his wife cheated on him.

Just be careful of dem "-chans" and "-its" over there! This is becoming an interesting term. It's always been around but only recently been notable in public. It's a catch-all for all the awful crap that people see on the news that happens online and people are starting to figure out that there are common threads between a lot of these incidents and a lot of "repeat offender" websites. Hell, just in the past few days we had the Silk Road and big revenge porn cases completed. There are legal and privacy implications all over the place that we really should have tried to resolve 20-25 years ago.
