So... Hyped...

By the looks of it, apparently they'll be changing the formula quite a bit, paying homage to the first 2 (3) games, that few people played or liked.
I only hope they dont get rid of the social aspects.

I'm really curious if the game is already in its beta state.

If I remember correctly P3 and P4 were released at the same year they revealed the games.

It is possible that we will be able to play P5 in July for JP and later this year for NA.

Both P3 and P4 were announced in March in famitsu and went on to release just 4 months after their first reveals in July.

Been following and lurking in this thread since the reveal. That trailer was super hype! The graphics, music and premise sounds amazing. Can't wait to see more Personas and abilities.

I really hope the areas are a little more open than previously. Also addition of a couple more areas to explore after school will be nice. But I am a little worried about the juvenile detention center thing that is rumored. That may take away the school festivals and trips that I really loved :( But then again I can give it to Atlus to handle that setting better than I can imagine right now.

Visual design seems to have taken another step up - it's superb. Now the waiting game. The figure dancing motif is a great touch too.

Not totally true. I mean yeah you fuse your "pokemon" to make better ones yes but if you wanted too, you could just use your Izanagi for most of the game if you wanted to. It would be kind of difficult but possible.
You'll have to grind quite a bit, and if you're only using Izanagi, you'll have to deal with consistently having the same elemental weakness, which is crippling. Sure, it's possible, but the game is clearly intended to be set up with Personas as disposable.

Also there's no pretense of caring about your Personas or them being your companions -- if a Persona/demon doesn't have the right skills, weaknesses or stats fucking get rid of it.
Well, in P4, at least, the Personas are supposedly manifestations of your soul. I think of it as choosing how to present yourself in a situation. The Personas are all part of Yu's spirit, and as the "wild card", he can diversely express himself through a variety of spirits. The sacrifice of those spirits represents a kind of spiritual growth. Thus, past Personas are looked upon in the same way we might look at our decisions made within the emotional framework that existed 10 years ago - with a bit of condescension, but also some appreciation. At least, that's my interpretation of events.

In SMT games, demons are obviously just meaningless fodder.

Likely S. Links -> Cooperation on the main menu.

The game shows the date of 4/11, so there is almost certainly time progression and planning.

Is it me or Soejima's art is starting to look like Gainax's?
Those faces during the all-out-attack looks straight out of TTGL.

I really like it, but in the same time i'm hoping we'll get a Kaneko game with the same graphic fidelity.

I know what you mean, Ryuji's grin strongly reminds me of Kittan. Speaking of which, after staring at the all-out attack gif posted earlier I keep imagining it ending in a TTGL-style flash card.

I introduced a friend of mine to the series and he's loved it. Link him to the P5 trailer and he's not impressed, saying it looks like Batman and stealth sucks.

I don't know what's wrong with me but I have never gotten into the persona/Pokemon thing. In both 3 and 4 I used the main protagonist persona the entire game.

It's not like Persona didn't already have stealth. You've always been encouraged to sneak up behind Shadows in dungeons. This is probably just making it slightly more of a system.

Not too familiar with Lupin's characters, so I'm imagining how the different roles in a heist movie like Ocean's Eleven would relate to the kind of persona and fighting style they'd use.

The mastermind is obviously our phantom.
Their financial backer. Their healer!
Demolitions. Agi user.
Electronics specialist. Zio of course. Could play a navigator role instead.
The grease man, or the guy who gets to hard-to-reach areas. Speedster archetype.
The pickpocket. Another speedster archetype.
The muscle. Hard-hitting physical attacks, huge HP.
Inside job fellow, a master of disguise. -kaja and -nda spells.

Don't really have any role in mind that would use hama/mudo or status effects.

The few last frames when MC got yellow-ish(adow) eyes ... And looks like he's burning his mask ... And hair seems to be longer than usual ... Main Antagonist right here??

More like main protagonist. It's been confirmed that the main cast won't be as traditionally "good" as the previous one.

Wonder what elemental affinity the first Persona will have. P3s was fire, and P4s was lightning, and I doubt we'll go with these again (even if fire fits the red theme) so I'll go out on a limb and say ice. No basis, just pure speculation.

I can explain what happens there. Essentially, by removing his glasses the MC underwent a mythical transformation, a process that converted him into a certified badass mofo.

Tatsuya's Personae in both IS and EP were also fire-based, chances are it's fire again or Holy/Dark based like Maya's.

About the last frames of the trailer, maybe the protagonist (and likely all the gang) can transform into their Persona? Something like Digital Devil Saga, but adding the possibility of summon other persona.

Or maybe that's his shadow.

Hopefully the PS3 will be the "lead" version, I don't need another console.

I really really really want it on Vita instead :(

It's just his shadow manifesting. Play P4 where this happens to every main character.
