Does kicking ass count as negotiating?
Kicking ass is a form of negotiation.

Owning a Vita will let you play the entire seriesIn light of this amazing trailer I now feel like playing all the personas but I am torn between which versions to choose, can you help gaf?
I'm thinking:
PSP persona 1
PS1 IS and EP
P4G is a no brainer over ps2
Now I don't know whether to choose p3p or fes. Portabity dossn't matter to me I just want the better game and I'm not sure which one to pick.
Since you're battling demons instead of shadows, and the MC seems to have a decided theme to him, I'm skeptical as to whether you can switch Personas.Something worth considering:
Assuming that the protagonists directly transform into their Persona, do you think you'll be able to transform into random demons like Jack Frost? Because that would be pretty cool. Or better yet, what if Persona 5 incorporates a traditional Persona summoning method, in addition to being able to transform into a *special* Persona (ie, the protagonist's unique Persona).
P3P is a better game but it doesn't have the FES contentIn light of this amazing trailer I now feel like playing all the personas but I am torn between which versions to choose, can you help gaf?

Shuffle cards were just as bad.I can't see why ANYONE wants this system back. Shuffle cards were much more platable.

If you must play P1, play the PSP version
P2: IS is ONLY a PSP game and EP is only a PS1 game in english.
P4G is a no brainer, as you said
and I'd recommend P3P over FES.
Honestly, I'd start with the modern games P3/4 if you want to prepate for P5.
P3P is a better game but it doesn't have the FES content
Is the FES content worth playing? I don't want to have to play both lol I don't even think I'll have the time to beat them all before P5 comes out.
That just would remove a big part of the depth of the series. Combat would likely be dumbed down since you can't exploit weaknesses as easily.I know it goes against the entire spirit of the Persona series, but I'd actually be perfectly happy if they got rid of the whole "collect demons" aspect of the game. It'd make me much happier if the main character just had a set persona like the other characters in the game and there was just more general customisation of abilities.

Hey, that could actually work, as long as it doesn't take up much more time than drawing cards in P4. One thing I liked about the last two Persona games was how fast and slick the turn-based battles were. The negotiations in other SMT games always pulled me out of the experience, and git boring about halfway through each game.Pickpocketing minigame!
Maybe he is talking about an evolution of the system used in Digital Devil Saga, in that game you cant use demons but you can customize each characters giving them the abilities normally reserved for demons. Each character can only have 8 at the same time which make preparation a BIG part of winning battles. That just would remove a big part of the depth of the series. Combat would likely be dumbed down since you can't exploit weaknesses as easily.
which isn't a negative.
P3P > FES forever and ever.
Play P3P, then watch the cutscenes of The Answer(the name of the FES content).

I will tolerate negotiation if this were to happen though. The randomness was the most annoying feature of negotiation.I'm cool with negotiations if they do it better with demons having more defined personalities and less randomness to outcomes. It would be nice if depending on their Arcana, or possibly Sin, we could get a general idea of how to approach them with a relative consistent success rate. Many SMT games can become a exercise in frustration when negotiating. All I want is demon X yet after 4+ attempts I have nothing to show for it.
Shuffle cards were just as bad.
... Ugh I really hate demon negotiation.
Maybe that's when the MC gets his Wild Card and Persona? After seeing this trailer, now I'm more curious about what what happening in the first one.
The one where time stopped and there was a blue flame in the distance. This trailer hints that that happens when they turn into their personas.
once again, im so happy generic shadows aee gone and demons as enemies.
They already do this? Depending of the faction of the demon you could infer what kind of answers he would like, at least that was the case in Nocturne and SMT IV.I'm cool with negotiations if they do it better with demons having more defined personalities and less randomness to outcomes. I surprised so many people don't like that aspect since is a big part of the Megaten series and of the first two games of the Persona series =/
We are looking, but we rarely get Japanese trailers...

ive only played SMTIV, but you could have the same demon give you the same question and it would switch which one was correctThey already do this? Depending of the faction of the demon you could infer what kind of answers he would like, at least that was the case in Nocturne and SMT IV.

Come on bro, that shit's hilarious. I'd much rather have demon negotiations over shit like insta kill. That's the real evil we should get rid of.

P4G is what I am playing right now at the moment (at the void quest boss and I'm getting rekt) while thinking of which versions to play for the other games. I just want to know if anyone else thinks p3p is the better choice over fes?

Should have chosen option 2.The best demon conversation by far is the one found in Shin Megami Tensei IV
"HURRY! DIG HOLE!"
Dialogue choices:
->Dig
-Dig
-Dig
GOOD! THAT YOUR GRAVE!
Party control is way too important to me. It's one of the reasons I couldn't stand playing the original P3.FES, in general more immersive because it allows you to walk around in 3D outside of dungeons, whereas in P3P you just have a 2D image and a cursor to interact with stuff. It's still 3D in the dungeons. You'll also miss out on animated cutscenes, which of course you can watch on YouTube, if you want and know when they should appear. P3P gives you an options to play as a male or female protagonist and gives you full control over your party. In FES you only control the protagonist and the rest of the party is managed by AI. You can influence what they do by giving them general orders like, conserve SP (mana), Heal, etc, Sometimes they make stupid choices but as well as you don't have Mitsuru in your party, they are pretty competent.
I personally prefer FES but P3P is almost as great. Almost.

They made sense in the games they implemented it, Nocturne you are recruiting and the demons are established to make alliances to those stronger than them and the Samurais of SMT IV are trained to combine their forces with those of the Demon's to help them in their jobs. It's the worst part of all of the above though, by far. And you can infer the answers, but even a correct answer could end up backfiring. It also broke the pacing of battle and made little sense.

Id rather just have SMTV with demon negotiationsThey made sense in the games they implemented it, Nocturne you are recruiting and the demons are established to make alliances to those stronger than them and the Samurais of SMT IV are trained to combine their forces with those of the Demon's to help them in their jobs.
Also, I know that Card Shuffle is better for pacing of the battles so there is that and tbh I love that the Persona series is more streamlined than the main one... But i would like the option of Demon Negotiation since demons are going to appear in this T_T
MARIN KARIN MARIN KARIN MARIN KARINP3P is better because of FeMC and the fact that you can actually use Mitsuru
The missing cutscenes does suck though
Was negotiation really as hard and arcane as people make it out to be?

Card shuffling did not cause me to lose health, magic, items, and money for absolutely no guarantee of reward. Some of the dialogue was amusing the first couple of times, but I will take a dull minigame over the frustration that was negotiation.
It's hilarious the first five times out of hundreds. And I cannot say I've been hama/mudo'd to death hundreds of times.
