Persona 5 New Trailer

Anyone have an idea to why there are blood splashes whenever the MC walks or moves in the dungeon gameplay?

Well, blood is obviously a motif with the protagonist (the ending of the trailer shows as much). Some speculation has been that it's associated with his deadly sin: wrath.

Wow, I never got the true ending, so I never saw that. Are there other moments where they reveal she is trans?

It's all over the game, throughout. It was made obvious to me long before the ending. Example:
Whenever they talk about female wrestling with Erica, paying attention to how Erica talks about it and how the others respond such as Vincent's, "They wouldn't let you participate, anyways," or something akin to it.

I made a wallpaper for smartphone. Quality is not perfect, but without better art can't do anything.

Thank you!

Toby is the only one who treats her badly. Everyone else just makes fun of Toby for his insecurities on the matter.

Some of the lines Vincent and pals aside from Toby crossed the line for me so while I'm not really too sensitive about crude jokes in general they still said some stuff that is totally not cool to me.

I guess I should replay the game because I remember almost nothing specific about it other than I strongly disliked the story and the plot contrivances at the time.

I'd rather they keep the Japanese names. English names out of nowhere just seems strange. I watched Police Story 3: Supercop ( liked it the least out of all of them so far), which was my least favorite so far. It was dubbed to English and it was so goofy to hear the Chinese gangsters listening to Tupac in the middle of a rural Chinese town.

I can't say I remember anything, it never really felt like it crossed that "stuff that went on in your past that friends will give you a hard time about" line.

But did it cross Erica's line? I understand that you might've been offended and I can empathize with that, but in the end there was no ill will or abuse of transgendered people in that game. Erica gave and took roughly the same amount of shit any of the other characters gave and took. Sure, they might incorporate her gender into the banter, but it never felt like she was getting picked on for her gender.

Like I said, I don't mean to downplay your personal offense with it, just that in and of itself I didn't have a very negative impression with Catherine's handling of a trans. character.

Any examples?

From my own experience I know that I can only insult my best friends and it's like a "proof" of friendship. If I don't call a friend "asshole, motherfucker, son of a bitch, scoundrel, etc." (or rather the German equivalents), then we're not close enough.
And among best friends there is also a lot of teasing for embarrassing stuff.

That's the subjectivity of it. She might have felt offended by it, while you didn't. Neither interpretation is particularly wrong.

Ultimately, I think striking that balance—substantiated by these discussions Catherine has engendered—without going all out offensive with the depiction is better than not attempting to have that kind of character at all.

There was no ill will but some feedback might improve on their later takes on Trans or LGBT characters in general. It mostly stuck out to me because I was doing a replay at a friends house True Catherine and actually doing all the extra stuff you can do in the bar where she and I took issue with some of the gang's banter with Erika and what they said about her at The Stray Sheep. I understand that other people might not see much of a problem but there are a few things they said that would set off a good deal of people I know and care about to the point I would not recommend the game to them. A lot of the stuff I brush off wouldn't even go over well with most of them.

I bet the setting will be along the lines of 'Cursed' and 'possessed' items, which have an evil impact on the world around them (like the train operator), so the group plans (like shown in the trailer with the blueprint) to steal/purify those from various locations. Each location will be a dungeon and the possessed demon will be the boss fight.

Okay, I can understand that and won't push the point any further.

What I would very much like to highlight, however, is that we've been having this civil, well reasoned discussion of multiple characters' personalities, their interaction and the representation of transgendered people regarding a game that's fundamentally about block puzzles. And that's kinda awesome :3

Yeah it's a really fun block puzzle game and I replay it quite frequently! Anyways it's nice to have some representation in a game you enjoy even if it's not exactly perfect and I like Erika as a character as well so that's a plus.
I feel weird about being the one with the dissenting opinion on this considering I usually find everyone else too sensitive about things. lol

I kind of hope we turn into our Persona, as the end of the trailer might suggest, like how you turn into Demons in DDS and that could tie into the whole Sins aspect we've seen. Though at the same time the poster of the MC with the Persona behind him could also point to it being the same as P3/4. Who knows, but it could be kind of like utilizing or embracing your sin, but not actually giving into it. While potential bosses we face could be people who succumbed to their inner sins and let them take over them completely.

Though I'm not sure how that connects into freeing people of everyday shackles. I guess you could say some people go too far in their attempt to break from the norm, like P4 character's shadow selves were hyper versions of their inner thoughts and fears.

Huh. Atlus is kind of serious about making their mainline games take place in Tokyo. Everything else takes place in a fictionalized setting.

I don't know how much of Tokyo will be explorable in P5. Shibuya, of course, and maybe nearby areas like Shinjuku or Harajuku. Even then, those areas might be restricted to a limited section.

I started my New Game + on P4G after getting hyped up for the series again by this trailer.

Unfortunately, now I can never unhear the mondegreen lyrics...

"Tell me why you're dirty, electric phone in the butt?"
"Tell me why you're dirty - out to the corners."
