Garfield is out, who do you want as the Spectacular Spider-man?

Gyllenhaal was being looked at as a possible replacement when there were rumors that Maguire wouldn't be able to return for Spider-man 2. He's even older than Garfield now so that's not going to happen.

I honestly want Benny SchwwwwwwwaaaAAAaaaAAaAzzzz (jean ralphio voice)

I'm going to jokingly suggest myself, but I know it's never going to happen despite me being in the age range and an actor.

Teen Wolf guy has my vote in all seriousness.

How is casting Donald Glover as Spidey automatically making him a token? Can't he just be an actor that's good for the part? That reminds me of some reactions on twitter after the Star Wars trailer complaining that Disney was being 'politically correct' by casting a black guy in the lead.

Edit: Wait are you the same guy that came after me in the other thread when I suggested Donald Glover because that wouldn't be 'true' to the character because he wasn't white?

No dude. Im a minority and dont think Peter Parker should be one. There can be one such as Miles Morales (which I find stupid too) in some other universe but main Spidey has to be a white nerdy kid. Its just isnt spiderman without a white Peter Perker. Same can be said for all the super heroes. They are established and you cant just be like "well, now he is x because".

Donald Glover is just too goofy in my mind to come off as threatening or intimidating in any way.
It's called acting. Spidey had always been goofy and quick mouthed, something Raimi forgot about. Gonna miss Garfield, and hopefully Disney gets better writers than Kurtzman and Orici.

I would flip if they made Spider-Man ethnic. Ho-Ly-Shit.

Black, Latino, Asian, I don't give a fuck. Props to Marvel for a thousand years if they pull that shit off.

I don't think the "white" part of "white nerdy kid" is the most important one when it comes to Peter Parker. Some characters should be kept a certain race (think Black Panther) as its absolutely core to their character. But someone like Peter Parker could really be any race (or even gender if you want). The important aspect of Spider-Man to me is that he's a geeky loser as Peter Parker, but when he puts on the mask he becomes a cocky hero that spouts off corny one liners. And probably also that he lives with his aunt and uncle and that his uncle is killed because he has't learned "with great power..." yadda yadda yadda. Besides that I think it's fair game.

It's the same when Michael Clark Duncan was cast as Kingpin and people lost their minds. Who cares? It's not important to that character that he be white.

Kind of sucks for Garfield that he just gets kicked out. What was his original contract, does anybody know? Dude was probably planning on that Spidey money coming in

I want Logan Lerman. Seems like a good fit, and he still looks young, right? They can do younger stuff if they really needed/wanted to.

I think Donald Glover would be too old.Hell, he'll be 33 when the first movie comes out. I imagine Marvel wants someone young and ideally won't be in their 40's after a 5+ movie deal is up.Hell, Andrew Garfield and Toby Mcguire were both under 30 when their first movies came out.

I would prefer Donald Glover but if not him I guess Dylan O'Brian is a good pic. Looks the part but I haven't seen him in anything other then The Interview.

Wouldn't it make more sense to bring his age in line with the other guys in the MCU?

i.e. Chris Hemsworth is 31

Will look stupid if you have a 18 year old running around with them.

My first choice would be him. He was great in Death of a Superhero.

Good actor, can play the angsty teenager pretty well but he's busy being Norman Bates in Bates Motel and I'm not sure Sony or Disney/Marvel would like that :p

Young, played Ender, and is a perfect fit if you want a white, awkward teenager.

They're all British, though.

Or we could have Dylan and Thomas. Make them share the suit

:D

Whoever it is, I don't want them to be over 17. Preferably closer to 15. I want a real high school Spider-Man since that's the least mined era. I want more than one movie in a trilogy to take place in high school.
