The Order 1886 | Impressions Thread of not shooting the messenger.

Fucking game. Its like I'm playing in cg. There was a time where i didn't know i have control already after a cutscene. Just found out when someone said "Galahad let's go already". lol

The transition is seamless. Its ridiculous.

It make me really excited for Uncharted 4. It's amazing that visuals are so good nowadays that these games can be 100% real-time.

It's a 24 hour ban, fuck'em.

The visuals are superb and at times ridiculously amazing, no differences whatsoever between cutscenes and gameplay. The lighting is spectacular, texture work, shaders, animations oh man. Went through the prologue in an hour just staring at the surroundings. I'm also digging the gun play and voice acting a lot.

Also, fuck it, I have a bunch of other small questions, so i'll just leave them here;

I'm curious about whats available in the game options:
How are the HUD options (can HUD elements be turned off independently?)
I doubt this is an option, but any film grain or other visual sliders?
Are there individual audio slider options? After Wolfensteins rough audio mixing I would really appreciate this.

What sort of extras are in the game?
Any alt costumes? Concept art? Documentaries (Like God of War of Naughty Dog games)

And finally are there collectibles that have story significance (Like Last of Us notes) Or Ubisoft style pointless collectibles.

No.
No.
Yes, and you'll probably have to use the slider if you're not playing with a surround sound system.
Extras, nothing so far. My DLC codes aren't working as of now. Alternate costumes and making of maybe...

Collectibles I've seen so far are audiologs.

The Order 1886 |OT| #This is for the watchers.

It's lame I know :P

But honestly, I'm surprised to see all the positive reviews this game is getting so far, considering the mixed impressions on NeoGAF :)

The mix impressions from those who played it or those who watched it...? (smile)

Most of the impression of those who played it said it was good and those who watched it said it was bad?

Pros and cons?

What gefällt us (pros)

Outstanding graphics
Superior sound
Density atmosphere
Cinematic Presentation

(Cons)

I don't quite remember their names but surely there were a couple of people playing this game already and they didn't like it.

Still, opinions are opinions. I will like this game no matter what reviews say :)

Right on, thanks for the help!

I was not interested at first for the game, but I changed my mind at the end. It is going to get crazy on Neo on Thursday.. The site might crash lol

Even if I do not like a game, I would never wish for a Dev to fail or force people to like or hate a game because of my view.

Im gonna translate the cons, since google translator seems to translate them weird:

-sometimes clunky controls
-small content.

As far as the PS4 is concerned, it's showing a 1080 image on your screen including the black bars, even though the game itself is rendered at a different aspect ratio. The black bars are indeed part of the game and not something added by your display due to a ratio discrepancy.

Since there's no setting in the PS4 to output to 21:9, I have no idea how an image would display on that. Maybe it would just get stretched really oddly?

So it's not an "artistic decision" after all... ;)

If the black bars are indeed part of the game's resolution, then cropping the bars out would show that the "game" part of the screen renders lower, thus it would be a blurrier, upscaled image on a 1080p 21:9 TV.

Okay I'm two hours in:

Pros:

-Game is incredibly gorgeous, everything is highly detailed, from the environments, down to the clothing and objects in the world.
-The 4 knights are really well acted and written. The brief little cutscenes for small things like showing Gallahad crouching behind cover, or planning a sneak attack with your partner, really work (I realise now) because they keep you feeling like you're in a movie
-The controls and guns feel perfect
-If you've watched the long gameplay demo, the game feels like that so far. Once you're past the slow intro portion, everything moves along at a brisk pace and you don't want to stop playing or the game to end.
-THe knights' uniforms are really cool, particularly how they vary for different ranks

Cons:

-You can't switch shoulder views (left to right)
-During cutscenes, there's a slight stiffness in the characters' eyes. It's particularly noticeable in Igraine to me, for some reason, and also because the voice acting is so natural that it stands out.

I am honestly just talking out of my ass lol. I do think it was an artistic decision but I don't know how they're handling the resolution and scaling.

Hey, many people said that you can switch shoulders with the touchpad. Look out for it, don't let it ruin the combat for you.

Edit: I think you have to enable it from the options or something like that.

Oh no! I can't buy it until it releases on Friday because I have the cost covered in gift cards but you can't pre-order with 'em! I hate GAME sometimes.

I don't have the game yet and I know for a fact you can switch. Go into settings. YOu're welcome
