Project Scissors: NightCry (Clock Tower Spiritual Successor) PC Kickstarter ($300k)

A few new reward tiers to go along with the final push:

Greetings Everyone!

There's only a few days remaining, but we're getting so close to passing over the line! To help entice more people to give us their financial support, the creators involved in NightCry have got some last minute adjustments to some of the Rewards!

First up is Masahiro Ito! He wants to get in on the dinner stuff, so we've created a new "Fright Night" tier! It's another $10k tier, and he'll be joined by Kono-san and Shimizu-san! This tier is limited to 2 backers.

Next we have Takashi Shimizu! He's agreed to prepare illustrations, shown below, with personalized signature! In addition, you'll get a DVD of some of his rare short films that he's made! This new reward tier is limited to 10 backers, and is available for $800!

Then Kono-san has a modified version of the Ship's Guest reward, which has been priced at $400. Backers at this new tier, called "Social Fear", will be featured in the SnapNPost in-game social network, with at least one SnapNPost post created featuring a picture supplied by the Backer! This tier is limited to 10 Backers as well.

Finally, we're looking into getting t-shirts made! We've got some draft designs (posted below) & and are looking into pricing & shipping costs. Let us know which one you like!

Type B:

Stay tuned for more!

Kinda like the way Type B wraps around. Though, you'd think they'd have the T-shirts already in the campaign instead of adding them in the midnight hour. @_@

Really hope this makes it. It has seemed like kickstarter has been so unfriendly and unsuccessful when it comes to indies trying to get anything in the Horror genre done, unless of course it's a couple of thousand or ten thousands for a 8-bit pixel game.

Sorry to say I am burned out on these dated visuals.

Would be nice to get something other than that. It's not like we an count on the "Horror" genre much in the west if its not something zombie related or a fluke event like Shinji Mikami getting lots of funding for Evil Within.

Gah, I really want to upgrade to that new tier with Shimizu's illustration and shorts disc... But it's such a huge leap in price... It's but a small click, but with such a huge hit on the wallet.

so instead of sponsoring an orchestra or feeding the poor, some rich dudes are funding the shit outta this thing (current average pledge - $148, 77% of the pledges are $50 or under).

I'm glad for that. I want this, I've already pledged, but this thing was clearly not gonna happen unless some big donors stepped up, and they certainly did. Thanks rich dudes.

They badly need to switch the More Ways To Die stretch goal with PlayStation 4. Or just do what they can to get PS4 in there.

This has one of the most unusual daily funding charts ever:

Yeah, it started slow (on a weekend, during PAX, middle of the night) then it didn't seem to gain much traction for a while, but there's enough developer pedigree there that there's a bunch of crazy fans willing to go for very high tier rewards, maybe combined with some other industry people willing to throw them a bone.

By the way thanks a lot ArjanN for keeping this thread up to date. You did a great job in spreading the word.

Hard to believe these last pushes, almost !

Thanks, kinda felt like yelling into the wind now and then. I still feel there could be a lot more love for this project on GAF, look at how many people are enjoying something like REmake again.

$250,255 now.

So close.

God, I just love how this game looks. The art direction and the graphics are just perfect. This looks exactly how I'd imagined a modern Clock Tower.
Sad to see there apparently are so many people much more interested in yet another creatively bankrupt iteration of Resident Evil than this. And there's so much talent involved here. You don't get anything like that with any of the other Japanese horror games/franchises these days (Silent Hills hopefully being an exception, but it's too early for that).

I remember the first few days and how slow this one went along. I checked back every day, and while it made around 10k a day for the first couple of days, it slowed down considerably afterwards.
Out of nowhere it got a huge push and has been going strong since.
It's so close now....

Really wish there were more backers. There's only 1775 at the moment and that just feel so depressingly low. I mean, yeah, Horror is a niche genre and it is no wonder why few devs and pubs greenlight those kind of games (unless it's a known IP or has Zombies).

It just looks so creative and unique and not at all like anything that is out there right now (or in the foreseeable future). And it seems to have a good amount of quality experienced talent behind it too. Really hope more people can back it in the final 48 hours.

It's now at $265,828. Less than 35K to go. There've been many kickstarters which have gotten that amount and more in their final 48 hours. Really hope this one does too.

It deserves so much more though :(

The creature art is pretty ace:

Ito on point and fresh as ever.

Really hope this gets him back into the scene a bit more.

A final push from me.

The game is at 266 000$ and is on track to 295 000$. 5 000$ short of the Kickstarter goal.

Come on guys. Make it happen! Don't let it die so close to the finish line! :(

Done! Was worried but it seems like this juuuuuuuuuuuust might make it - La-Mulana 2 devs put it as a kickstarter update like 10 minutes ago which might just be enough to get this over the line - hopefully .

The beginning was really bad though - this could have easily been 400k range if they had this momentum at the beginning.

Yeah, just saw the La-Mulana 2 update.

At $270,303 now.

I'm amazed that this is looking like it might actually happen. They've had constant updates which are interesting for fans of the genre, but they had a really bad start and I'm glad they've made a comeback. I think this would be a good idea for no-one to cancel Kickstarter campaigns, because I wouldn't have bet this would succeed at all a couple of weeks ago.

Push it guys. We're now on track to 299,764$ (Of course it's an estimate). This will be a close one.
Spread the word horror fans, this team needs some publicity. I even made a thread on another board because no one knows about this title from that great team. Would be painful if it fails at 299000$. Mikami and co. should donate some from Tango Gameworks^^

65h and 29 000$ left.

This is going to make it with like 5 minutes left. This is too big to fail now. Numbers will be fudged if need be.

The problem is ... It ends in the middle of the night (sunday around 2AM eastcoast). Just like it started. Or 9am Monday in Europe for me. When everyone is at work.

Well, the same account (Playism Games) that ran the La-Mulana 2 Kickstarter is running this one. So from what I can tell, it wasn't the La-Mulana 2 devs who made that update, it was the person from Playism Games who decided to try to cross-promote.

I hope this makes it.

Keeping my scissors crossed! :D

This one is going to be a nail-biter no doubt. I just hope that the final 48 hours can bring in the backers. I'd feel safe if we end up with over 2000 backers or more in order to meet the goal.

Only 20k left, it has to make it at this point right? It's pulled in a miraculous amount of money in the last 5 days.

Kickstarters generally get a bump in the last couple of days, even more if the media gives them some attention.

Haven't seen much of this in any media, but someone is giving it attention for sure, it just pulled in another 10k, a little over 10k left.

Holy crap yeah! It's under 10K now to go! Woo!

Also update. Team is very thankful and to add even more incentive to the super high tiers they're adding a signed copy of the musical score from Nobuko Toda.
These sorts of tiers and rewards no doubt are what are pulling in the cash in Japan and elsewhere.
