Kid share plays Destiny to stranger...

It is really stupid that Destiny doesn't let you password protect your characters from being deleted. All it takes is somebody to be on your system and delete them at the first page after signing into Destiny.

Can't watch right now but can't the person who's giving permission for Shareplay also get control back whenever? I don't use it so I wouldn't know, but it would seem dumb to not let you do that.

Exotic that got deleted looked like a Plan C. However his Warlock, the first character the guy deleted was pretty well geared.
Crota chest, arms and legs.
Obsidian Mind Helm (Exotic)
Hawkmoon (Exotic)

Any other items not equipped will also be lost I assume. Faction ranks, consumables, materials. That is just from the character he lost. He also had his level 26 Titan deleted.

I'm laughing because I'm a horrible person.
Poor kid. Lesson learned and all but I feel the lesson didn't have to be so brutal.

They've got that buffer time added when you're deleting things (smart idea). If only the kid was paying attention, he could have switched off the power before anything was lost.

It does if you don't wander off to do something else while a stranger is screwing around in your save file.

It would be sad if it wasn't so funny.

I feel nothing - he was trying to mess with the "system" by trusting and giving controll to a stranger.
Next step - fake college papers, paying for them and being busted plus the loss of money. (that escalatedquickly blahblah)

His lesson was learned. And the other person is hearthless.

Questions: How old is your kid, and have you enabled parental controls on the console? What streaming service was he using? Twitch? YouTube?

Not trying to offend or anything. I'm just curious because Destiny is rated T (suitable for ages 13+) and your child doesn't sound a day over that age. Even a 16 year old would have trouble obtaining it on his own since GameStop checks ID and online ordering is impossible without an adult's card. On top of that I'm sure you paid for the console and online subscription yet he seems to have unrestricted access to all of the consoles potentially unsuitable features, and is also allowed to stream/broadcast his activities to total strangers on the internet. Parental controls can restrict the type of sharing he allowed in order to prevent things like this.

Another thing that I find interesting is that he seems to take no hesitation in deciding that he wanted to cheat/glitch his way to obtaining things in the game that the majority of people play legitimately to obtain. Has he been instructed of the potential consequences?

I don't really find "Trolls are everywhere." as an adequate excuse for ignorance in this case after so many obstacles (some of which I've listed above) seem to have already been overcome before the deletion of his characters was even possible. It's tantamount to placing the blame solely on the person who steals your car, but at the same time it was left running, doors unlocked with the keys in the ignition.

His parents really have no room to counterargue.

On Ps4, you can share your gameplay to another Ps4. Basically, the 2nd party streams off you Ps4 but can take full control.

Besides turning off your console is there a button you can press to instantly pause the sharing process?

God's had his chance.
equal parts tragic and hilarious...

i'd say 11 is a good age to learn that the internet = fucking trollsville.

Who would shareplay with a random and not have lazzer beam eyes on the screen? Just a comedy of errors here on his part. Live and learn.

this is like that episode of hey arnold where he goes to the park to play catch with a random guy, throws the ball to him, the guy catches it and runs away with it.

It's pretty weird to see so many people, whom I presume mostly consist of adults, savor the fact that a kid is genuinely sad about losing a lot of progress. Yeah it's a game, so I'm sure he wont be hurt in the long haul. But the kid's guilty of glitching, which every Destiny player does.

After putting 100s of hours in Destiny myself, that was painful. I can't imagine how someone can get off doing that to a kid. Everyone who has 30+ characters has at least cheesed the game. If they are not cheating in crucible I don't see it as a serious offense and certainly not deserving of this.

Reminds of the time I got PK'ed in PSO and the guy took my favorite weapon. But this is way worse.

Share Play always struck me as super weird and something that I, personally, would never use. This story solidifies this.

I feel bad for the poor kid.

You press the PlayStation button to take back control. It would be inside the cross game chat screen. You'll see yourself and who you're sharing with highlighted together. Just click x I believe on your PSN and options will appear. One of them of course is to take back the controller.

Those of you who find this hilarious may be mentally damaged. And trying to pass it off as his just deserts shows how thoughtless you are.

SharePlay is great...with friends.

Why you'd let a stranger mess with your game, especially your "MMO", is beyond me.

I don't have a PS4 and didn't know that this was a thing. So you can allow someone else to remotely access your game? Actually, I guess this is the same thing as remote play, isn't it? Anyways, this really sucks for the kid, and Sony/Bungie should try to do something to prevent this kind of thing happening. He's just a kid and only wanted to level faster. I bet a lot of kids get fooled into this kinda thing.

Yup. This seems to be a downside to it. Shareplay is awesome though. It allows games like Towerfall, a game that has no online multiplayer, to be played online. It allows you to have your friends help beat a level for you when you are stuck. Essentially, the kid was doing the latter, except the other guy was most certainly not his friend.

I didnt think much of it until i thought to myself, "why didnt he just have his friends do it with him?"

But then i considered maybe he doesnt have any friends. Now i'm sad for him.

something is fishy here, by the looks of it, the kid is internet savvy, has voice chat, played with a clan/group of people for the raid stuff, knows how to SharePlay etc...

and just left the screen for 30 seconds? I don't believe it

it seems like his mom responded in the comments

He was playing with people he knew- one of his friends invited these two into the group because they had earned his trust. Trolls are everywhere. Thanks for judging without context.

I feel bad for him. People are so quick to hop on the blame train.

Such awful parents letting their kid play online video games!! /s

The kid learned the same lesson he would of learned at 13 or any other age.

This kind of thing happens to most kids online, I reckon. Everyone has their watershed moment when they realise that griefing is a thing.

As a kid I lost about £10 of credits on Habbo Hotel because I was naive. At the time it seemed like an astronomical sum of money. Didn't tell anyone and I was petrified that my parents would find out.

Kids have to learn. At least he didn't lose any real money, but that must be a lot of time wasted. I'm not sure how long it takes to level up in Destiny.

hmm... I expected this to be a funny vid but upon watching it I think I just feel bad for the kid :(

Hope bungie restores his shit as there is video proof of everything.

Reminds me of when I played star wars galaxies way back when. One of my guild mates was "married" to another player who ended up taking almost all of his in game possessions and credits.

I did tell him from the start that I didnt like her.
