Remember that Rayman/Mewtwo "leak" a while back? It was well crafted, but it was sucky that the prospect of fully new characters was fake. That didn't stop SourceGaming from going around and trying to figure out who Japan wants to see,
Overall, out of returning fighters and newcomers, Lucas was first, followed by Wolf. Snake came in 3rd, while Ice Climbers are 4th. Roy bridges the gap between the top and Pokémon fighters at number 5, The list of veterans is rounded off with Pichu, Squirtle and Ivysaur, at 6,7 and 8 while Young Link didn't even place. Poor, poor Young Link.
The newcomers are the most interesting thing to note though. Taking 11% of newcomer votes and 3% of everything is our favorite Cosplaying Kremling Kaptain, King K.Rool
Then it goes: Krystal, Ridley, Dixie and Paper Mario. We then get our first character that doesn't have series playable representation in Ray MK.1
As the list goes farther down, you see more of the characters you'd expect on these lists, like Daisy, Geno, Rhythm Heaven and Inkling, Alongside unique standouts like Leon, Sceptile, Ashley, Thaja and Zelda, (uh... she kind of is already in there, why are people swearing her in twice?) With the least requested fighter being Takamaru.
Third parties are a stranger beast, though. You'd honestly would never guess the most popular 3rd party newcomer request would be, and when I saw the results, I smiled a bit. Mystical Ninja's Goemon isn't fully forgotten after all.
However, the most requested new 3rd party company addition would have to be Activision and Crash Bandicoot.
It shouldn't need to be said, but they too want characters like Bomberman, Ryu and Klonoa, but some of the weirder choices include: Werehog Sonic, Arle Nadja, Viewtiful Joe, A Tales Of character, Zangief, Aiai and Shiren.
