Who's left to add to Smash?(As DLC or Smash5 newcomer) Some Japanese fans have ideas.

What's the matter with Chorus Kids as a Rhythm Heaven representative? No, they weren't the ones whose names were brought up when people were originally brainstorming Rhythm Heaven characters, but that doesn't mean they're not a good choice. For me, it was something like Wii Fit Trainer: a character I wouldn't have thought of independently, but they work well.

For one thing, they've been rather recurring icons of the series since their debut, appearing in the Munchy Monk Endless Game in Fever (arguably Marshall, Cam and Miss Ribbon are the same species but whatever who cares), cameoing in Game & Wario, appearing in the Rhythm Heaven 3DS Badge Center set, and being 1 of 4(?) Rhythm Heaven trophies in Smash 4. Not to mention the fact that they were rather prominent in advertisement for Rhythm Heaven DS (they're the only characters on the front cover of the game).

I also think that when it comes to "representing" the series, they're one of the best choices. I get that Karate Joe and the Ringside Wrestler are popular characters, but the Chorus Kids are inherently musical (being singers), and are therefore, imo, better suited to represent the series. Additionally, and this was something that hadn't occurred to me until the idea of the Chorus Kids was brought up in the Gematsu leak, but a trio character is pretty conducive to a good rhythm-based moveset, where attacks from the first two Chorus Kids would set the rhythm, and if the third does an attack on the rhythm (matching it like in Glee Club), that attack could receive a damage bonus... or something like that.

I don't really feel THAT strongly about which character it ends up being, it's just that the more I think about it, the more Chorus Kids seem to make sense (plus it's not like Gematsu was just any random "leak", lol). The series doesn't really have a face, so imo, Chorus Kids are more than popular enough to be the pick.
This is exactly how I feel about the Chorus Kids -- almost eerily so, in fact.

Also, everyone needs to realize that criticizing a character before seeing it in action is a fool's errand. I've certainly learned my lesson. Sakurai is better than any of us at designing Smash Bros. characters (Ganondorf/clones notwithstanding); Villager, Rosalina, Pac-Man, Bowser Jr., and Duck Hunt are all better realized than any of the fan movesets I've seen floating around on the forums. I'm sure Sakurai had a good reason for wanting to include the Chorus Kids over another RH character, and if we're lucky enough to see them as DLC then I'm sure they'll be full of creativity and Rhythm Heaven-y goodness.

I still believe.

You ain't lyin'! The Rosalina brain storms that generally say were Peach Clone with the Galaxy star jump. Pac-Man was destined to be nothing but the ugly new Pac-Man from the cartoons with inspiration from his original game that couldn't be translated well into Smash. Bowser Jr was usually a smaller faster Bowser Clone with shadow Mario transformation, sounds like 2 clones to me. Duck Hunt had the dog swinging the duck around like a club and running around on 2 feet.

When Sakurai designs characters now a'days you can see the epic thought that goes into it. If only Donkey Kong and Ganondorf deputed in Brawl or Smash Wii U/3DS.

List:
1 - Ridley
2 - Dixie
3 - Sukapon
4 - King K Rool
5 - Samurai Goroh

Sakurai not thinking Ridley would work properly now means nothing about future games. Villager, Pac-Man, Mii, and maybe a few others went through his flip flopping thought process.

I'm starting to (unfortunately) doubt whether or not we're going to get any more non-Mewtwo DLC for Smash 4. I'd love for at least some of the cut veterans to return, namely Wolf and Lucas, since Ice Climbers are apparently technically impossible and Snake is a victim of less-than-stellar Nintendo-Konami relations.

My Smash 5 wishlist:

1) Paper Mario -Don't give me that Three Marios crap. Tons of material to work with here for a moveset, different enough from Mario to be worthy, not to mention the stage and soundtrack potential.
2) Retro Pig Ganon -Throwback! I love it when Smash goes retro. Old blue pig Ganon with a trident would be amazing.
3) Takamaru -Another Trowback! This is the real retro throwback that every Smash needs. I love it when Smash updates a decades-deceased character to the present day. Tons of moveset potential, and tell me a Murasame stage with a new soundtrack wouldn't be jaw-dropping.
4) Ridley -No matter the size, Ridley is still a monstrous purple hellish death dragon that I want to play as greatly. Sakurai has changed his mind before (see Villager, Animal Crossing or Fighter, Mii).
5) Dark Samus -Either way, Metroid is overdue for a newcomer. Dark Samus is just as worthy as Ridley in my eyes and still brings a lot to the table.
6) Dixie Kong -Not a huge fan, but even I have to admit this is woefully overdue.
7) Crono -Never going to happen, but a guy can dream. Would be a sweet tribute to Square Enix's contributions during the 8 and 16-bit eras. Not to mention that Soundtrack.
8) Waluigi -I would laugh so hard if this ever happens. Give me a good laugh Nintendo.

I would also not be opposed to Dillon, Custom Robo, Saki or Isaac, though I've never played their games.

You can say that again. For the longest time I thought Bowser Jr. was the dumbest character idea ever and he ended up being my second favorite newcomer in the new games.

...'course, they added the Koopaling alts, so I can just cheat and just say it's Iggy. <3 that crazy prankster!

Me to a tee. I find Bowser Jr. annoying but working his moveset around the clown car and letting you play as the Koopalings instead was excellent. After Pac and Mega Man they're the newcomers I play as the most.

I think fans would be pissed more than anything else if Young Link was one of the DLC characters. Toon Link fulfills that purpose.

I want to see Ice Climbers and Snake back, but new Nintendo characters would be cool too.

EDIT: Goemon would be awesome. He could provide more exposure of the series to North Americans like Marth/Roy did in Melee for Fire Emblem.

Missed this earlier but:

The Avatar is already in Smash and he can airbend:

(Custom upB)

Come on! You could have done better than that!

Donkey Kong have Storm Punch (Neutral B 2), Kong Cyclone (Custom Up B 2), and Hot Slap (Custom Down B 2) Also you could pick ground-based move for Side B, Normal Side B or Custom Side B 2.

You have Wind, Earth and Fire, so Avatar Kong can't learn how to use water. :P

Dark Pit makes me throw up a little every time my cursor is forced to slide by his undeserving face.

You surly like to overreact over little things, do you?

Golden Sun Characters.

You got it right. I'm still shocked that they actually took Isaac out of Assist Trophy section and Golden Sun managed to not get any trophy at all.

My pipe dreams:

- Impa (as a Sheik clone with a lower skill curve, similar to Lucina and Marth)
- Anthony Higgs
- Takamaru
- Pichu re-imagined as Pichu Bros., possibly using a pastiche of either the Spiky-Eared Pichu and the Shiny Pichu or the anime Pichu Bros.
- Travis Touchdown
- Marshall (Chorus Kids)
- Reckless Player (Game & Watch styled character using moves based on all of Nintendo's safety infographics)

DLC:
- Inkling
- Ganon (blue pig with the trident, not dorf)
- Advance Wars Rep
- Isaac (Golden Sun), possibly a Matthew alt
- Wonder Red
- Grass-type Pokemon rep, bonus points for Gen 3 coverage (Sceptile?)
- Dark Samus
- Snake

ray mk 1 and saki from sin & punishment are probably the most interesting newcomers I can think of,since they would also bring new styles options given their characteristics...

king k rool is a villain that has been forgotten even by its own series of games,i really don't see him as a newcomer..even though with the whole cosplay thing it can become a pretty unique character..even though easily unbalanced

there's also that armadillo guy from that eshop series i didn't play but i think has a cool design..and i think the squid guys/girls from splatoon are pretty much cinfirmed for smash 5 if the games has even a little of success
I still believe.

If Roy comes back they can make Eliwood his alt (or have him Chrom it in up in his final Smash).

Honestly, I kinda want Waluigi though and make his move set everything from Snidely's Whiplash bag of tricks.

Remember that jobs listing for Smash 5 or 6 or something? That sounds like a big ol' expansion to me. Or at the very least more characters than just Mewtwo. There is no doubt in my mind. I mean you ever really think about what Sakurai says and what he does? He always says the exact opposite of how he truly feels. So expect a big Nintendo direct with all the Smash fixings.
