Street Fighter V - Charlie Nash trailer; beta for all pre-orders in NA

Remember Cammy + Decapre

Cammy and Decapre play nothing alike. The only reason the extra character exists is because they could reuse assets (they didn't have the resources to start from scratch).

Any comparison that lumps Oni, Sakura and Ryu into the same category is a worthless comparison.

I'd say it's possible that Guile sits out for the first 6 months to a year, but he won't miss SF V. I just find it strange if they sit Guile, Ono has talked a lot about how Guile is a fan favorite, and Guile's entire story revolves around his Bromance with Charlie, so him being gone would just be odd.

That's what'd make me think Guile could be a key part to expanding the story after the initial characters make release. Their story is very closely interwoven, and rich enough in concept to not only have base around those 2, but also an entire new thread to the V story. If the rumored 16 characters for release were to be true, saving Guile until a second wave would work out.

It's just odd to assert that as something that is uniquely Fulgore or KI. It's in a lot of fighting games. Even Decapre has a pseudo-teleport, and don't get me started about Marvel.

I'm not saying that they can't take inspiration or be better for learning from other developers, particularly with regard to the single player or option elements. What I'm saying is that nothing about this gameplay is out of the box for Capcom. They've been doing stuff like this for decades.

Didn't say he was the only one to do it, just that it's pace seems more akin to his. Even playing him in KI, with the ease of the motion, and his ability to spit multi fireballs as a normal special, it feels much different than the usual Capcom methods employed in their games.

Really, I love that in fighters. The games can have same strats, sure, but they feel unique due to the pacing and meter / speed / gameplay reaction of each series. Aksys has crazy trap characters in their games, for instance, but I never liked playing one until Doranjo in TatsuVsCapcom,,,
WE NEED THIS

WE NEED BOTH! I really hope they make stages character-specific in this, or at least segments favor character personality. I really hated how SFIV started out with catch-all kinda-sorta themed stages. (Why does Shadoloo have a brewery again?)

I hope Capcom didn't listen to all the ridiculous people who were claiming that SFV looked just like SFIV when they decided to change this coloring. It looks like they are trying to make it look more colorful like SF3.

That's the point of the comparison.

Lumping Charlie and Guile together is the same thing.

Classic Charlie and classic Guile are pretty clone-like, in ways that exceed even Ryu and Ken in modern games IMO.

But this Charlie is nothing like Guile, so yeah, terrible criticism by whoever is making it.

I'd be very surprised if Guile doesn't make it. Nash is clearly a very different character compared to the fundamental based, footsie/zoning Guile.

I hope literally everybody that's ever been in a Street Fighter game, or who has been on the Capcom side of a Capcom Vs game is in this. I know that's not the point of this game; it seems to be taking itself very seriously. I'm worried about this thing crawling up its own ass and forgetting to be fun.

You didn't say he was the only one to do it, you suggested that Charlie's gameplay was inspired by Fulgore, which is again odd given Capcom's history and breadth of experience in the genre. Have you played Marvel? Because those types of things are just the norm. Really typical stuff, but employed differently on a character by character basis.

I fully recognize that character archetypes feel and play differently depending on the systems in place. I play pretty much every fighting game out there. I just don't see anything Fulgore-ish about the pace of Charlie's play except on a pretty surface level, and that can be applied very broadly. It looks like Street Fighter to me.

You completely missed the point of my post. I'm implying that people would always complain about almost everything. I still remember the backlashes because people were upset that we are getting clone character based on Cammy, and we are getting other playable Doll. (I'm aware of other reasons tho)

I was pointing out that Cammy and Decapre is pretty much in same position as Nash and Guile because people are going to make assumptions. Charlie Nash trailer already made it obvious that Guile is going to be completely different from Charlie's if Guile got in SFV.

Well it's Capcom so expect costumes. maybe that will give Charlie without the stitches.

Predictable tho!

Wish I can get in on the beta. Lacking a PS4 currently but some day. Can't wait to tell my brother one of his favorite character is now som kind of zombie cyborg thing.

I don't. I mean if you guys are concerned about 1p player content, then that shouldn't be want you want either.

More characters means more development time dedicated solely for that and less for mini-games, cutscenes and other one player modes.

MK9 had around 20ish characters. The sequel, despite having new faces, is still around 20ish characters. There's a reason for that.

You're saying that in a thread for a trailer revealing a returning character who has come back as a magic, mind-controlled zombie.

Pre-emptive Bison feedback inc:
  • Psycho Dragon punch
  • Psycho Banish
  • Psycho Sever
  • Psycho Shot
  • 45 degree angle Psycho Crusher
  • Psycho Choke Slam command grab
  • +5 on blocked Scissor Kicks due to how slow all the moves look in the game so far so this is justified

Meanwhile, SF4, a much better and more successful tournament game than MK9, has 44 characters.

Looks more like MvC3 to me.. Maybe it's the time/weather effects that was rumored.

Man, I would not be cool with it if they butchered Urien to stitch his forehead and arm to Charlie. I do dig the new moves, but that tackle move has me suspicious of that.

The game still looks way too slow and too close to SF4 to me, I see what they're trying to do with the meatier-looking hits and detailed animation, but that looks too slow for me to find fun. I already found SF4 to be slow already too.

Why do Ryu & Chun-Li still have the same voices but Bison doesn't have his boss-ass voice from SF4 though? Bison was one of the few characters that looked real good in the SF4 engine AND he had the perfect voice to go with it too.
