The colors of this photo will appear different to everyone. I think?

Alright, so I saw it as white and gold, but when I read the quote on how it can look blue I swear the white kinda turned slightly blue, its still white overall but I can see a blue tint all of a sudden on it.

In all seriousness what the hell is the science behind the color changing for those of us that have seen both

I do not understand whats happening

I just don't understand this question at all.

I think its less of a case of people having "worse" eyes and more of a case of a really shitty photo and people interpreting it in different ways as a result, regardless of what color the dress actually is.

I think the mind forms a sort of "key" when it sees the flat portion of trim that is less susceptible to shadows, and bases what it believes the rest of the trim's color to be based on that snippet. Thus, as you scroll your screen such that it's off-screen, or no longer in your focus, the color seems to shift. I.e. the brain tries to subconsciously factor in lighting in a 2D picture using context clues.

This is just a guess and may be total nonsense.

It's white and gold. If you want to be picky you could say it's a darkish whitey blue because it's white in the shadows or something.

First it was blue and black, then it was white and gold and I can't change it back. Send help

Oh wait now it's blue and black again oh god

Looked at this on three different monitors. Blue and black every time. Asked my parents; they insist it's white and gold and now think I'm high.

But do you at least see that it's clearly black fabric with light shining on it distorting the colour, or does it literally look like gold fabric to you?

.... is this what is happening? I don't care if it is a black being exposed, I care about the colour in the actual image. It is no black, it is brown.

The options were white gold, or blue black. We just picked the ones closest to either. It doesn't look gold to be but it's more gold than BLACK.

88-71-40 is not black or even grey.

The original dress has been shown. I think it's on page 2 or 3. Many white and gold supporters (myself included) suddenly changed to black and blue after seeing the original picture. Just a warning.

This?
Is this the actual dress in the OP?

I want to see the dress in the OP, in the same context, but with different lighting to prove its supposed color.

I don't give a good fuck what the original photo looks like. The one posted in the OP has been messed with. I could make a blue and black dress orange and magenta if I wanted.

Do we know the source of the dress? Just show us the damn dress in proper lighting to prove it's white and gold?

A white dress will be the color of the light you shine on it. Green light, green dress. Red light, red dress.
Or it will be whatever color you change it to in Photoshop.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills because it looks to me like black and blue in the original photo. But even the girl I'm working with says white and gold. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

Actually I saw a different photo of the person wearing the dress and it was definitely white and gold if it's the same dress. So maybe it's the way the photo was taken. But still, to my eyes the OP photo is clearly black and blue.

I am freaking out. It was white/gold and I could not comprehend how people saw blue and black and when I scrolled back it was blue and black, like I'm being trolled.
