It's sad how little we know about it. I mean, Nade-Nade started around the beginning of September last year and all we got of substance is a poster. It's been half a year.

On another note, I think I'm going to cave in and join Stuart in importing Cyber Sleuth.

All that Kanji and no Furigana though... that will be painful, lol.

Gave up hope for a western release? It features most production values in a Vita title so far. Sony gotta bring it to NA and PAL, right?

More impatience than giving up hope, lol. If it comes out here I'll buy it again to show support (and to finally understand what's going on).

Shin Megami Tensei: Digimon: Summer Wars featuring Danganronpa music is one of the dream games I never knew I wanted. Unless it thoroughly disappoints me, I will support it with my heart and soul!

Besides, I always wanted to try playing a game in Japanese. Granted, I could have started with an easier one to read...

Thank you :D I love when people say this providing they go through with it. (I have a LOT of copies of games in JP and EN such as Tales of games, SAO and even the JP Digimon Story (DS) and EN Digimon World DS)

I also have to start working on the OT for Cyber Sleuth before the 12th. Keep an eye out for that so you can discuss the demos/ask questions (assuming anyone else here imports it at least besides us :P )

Thats some dedication. I am sure Namco love you.

Bandai Namco loves me XD, Most of my imports are Bamco games. Idolm@ster, SAO, Tales of, CV: Casting Voice, OreImo, etc. And then I buy the English versions of any games that come out in English.

edit: I have now paid for my GEM series figures, Hikari/Tailmon and Takeru/Patamon. Getting it sent via EMS just to make sure it arrives safely.

I got my notice last night too :) I still picked the cheaper way... I know I should start doing otherwise though, since I recently had a package from Japan not show up :/ (That or it's sitting on a boat on the shore of LA or something).

Ah that sucks, hope you get yours without an issue :D

Yeah, I want more Digimon games with this production level in the west. If it takes me buying another copy, it's more than worth it.

And I'm looking forward to the OT. Hopefully it consists of more than two people. :p We got to keep that Digi-hype train rolling!

My most wanted games right now that aren't localized are the 2 Digimon ones... I continue to hold hope (just like my subbed boxsets...)

And yeah I'm sure when the OT starts more people will pop in. It's just like Jurassic World topics that I sub to, with only a few people posting on it.

heh

It's weird because I don't post too much in other threads I am interested in. I'll make a few comments, then lurk the rest of the time.

I guess I can't lurk if there is barely anyone posting. :P Gotta keep this on the front page so people will check to see if the eggs hatched yet, only to be disappointed.

And now for random Metalgarurumon art! It's going to be part of the boxart for the figure.

I also have to start working on the OT for Cyber Sleuth before the 12th. Keep an eye out for that so you can discuss the demos/ask questions (assuming anyone else here imports it at least besides us :P )

I've also decided to import Cyber Sleuth (the hype for Tri has completely rekindled all of my Digimon love). My Japanese isn't great, so this is definitely going to be an interesting experience for me.

And hopefully then it can be followed up by Tri airing and being awesome.

I'm kind of the same. Lots of topics subbed but I usually only lurk unless I have questions or get bored and decide to post a lot. I mainly only check out niche game topics and a couple other things. I'm not surprised that I'm up so high on this list though :p

That's awesome Metalgarurumon art :) I sure want to get those others too, some day. Speaking of figures boo, my GEMs charged but didn't ship yet :(

Wooo, another importer! A good thing about Cyber Sleuth is that the battle menu and attacks are in English and/or Katakana. So at least battles won't be a pain, lol.

If an NPC tries to give directions, on the other hand...

Yep, once in a while I'll get angry/excited about something and post like crazy, but it rarely happens. I don't like posting in large faster-moving threads cause I feel like I'll just repeat what someone already said better.

And I hope your figures ship soon. The Takeru and Hikari figures almost broke me, they are so cute. ;_;

That scene still gives me chills

It's too bad they made him job in diablomon strikes back just so imperialdramon could shine

I was always disappointed Imperialdramon had a fighter mode. He felt like a "repeat" of Omegamon to me. Dragon mode was so much more kick-ass and unique.

zACR5gC.jpg

Diablomon Strikes Back was like a lesser Our War Game in general, though it had some cool parts. Paladin mode being a recolor of fighter mode was pretty lame, especially since that was the Omegamon moment.

Or get ignored with so much traffic, or last-pag'd (which seems to happen to me often, getting ignored even more since not everyone checks).

My Mimi/Koushiro hit me hard :x Jou and Sora BETTER NOT be an exclusive...

Yeah, Imperialdramon > Fighter Mode. All he could do was fly fast and act as transportation, but he still looked cool...

And yeah Diablomon Strikes Back was just a rehash (with lesser art) of Our War Game. The OST though.... best part. I listen to it through every now and then, it has all the good themes in it! Watching Adventure subbed was great since Bolero and Konran will play in the background every now and then. Love it^^ As for the movie... ehhhh pretty predictable (and even Ken included in it couldn't save it...) Hosoda should've come back :x

I wonder how much I will post when Adventure Tri finally airs. Probably not nearly as much if there are a lot of people watching. 'Twill be the end of the Paper Sparrow-dominated era.

Is there a chance those figures might be released over here eventually? They seem to be trying to capitalize on the hype right now, but I don't know how these things usually go.

I have a feeling this is why most of the main casts' Digimon nowadays end up anthropomorphized. Quadrapeds are hard to make "actiony". It ends up making some of the Digimon look samey though.

When I watched the first movie subbed and followed it up with subbed Adventure for the first time, Bolero blew my mind. Such a great song to choose.

Also, it should go unsaid that Hosoda should make every Digimon movie, lol.

If it's anything like the Sailor Moon Crystal topic, things will calm down after a bit. First eps will be the huge influx of extreme "I love it/hate it" people, and then they will wander out. The loyal will stay and remain there to do discussions every week.

I highly doubt that the GEM series will have domestic versions of them. They would've done them already if so, like most of them that do make it.

Gotta get that mecha quota in there!

At the time, I only knew of Bolero from the OST. Back in the day I was sitting in French class and the teacher put on some French music. Guess what showed up? It was crazy hearing it out of its "context" :p Every now and then I'll hear it out in public and my hears perk at hearing such a familiar tune. I love that :)

And yes, Hosoda should've just stayed on board for everything. Or at least, finished up the Adventure 02 movies.

Wow. Never been on a Wall of Shame like that before :P haha. Apart from the FFXIV OT and SAO:HF OTs, this is my most posted in thread I think.

I understand why Re:Digitize never made it, being on PSP and all, but I was so convinced they would bring Re:Digitize Decode over here because it was on 3DS.

I hope they bring that and Cyber Sleuth over. I can't import a 3DS game. :/

I can say pretty much with 100% certainty that Decode won't happen. but Cyber Sleuth... well. Just keep your hopes up and keep asking for it :)

Yay, another importer.

Fun fact: I decided to do the OT because no one did one when Digimon Adventure PSP came out. I wasn't confident about doing one (still not but at least I'll try :D) so I didn't have many places I could discuss it.

That won't happen this time since we'll have an OT so importers can discuss it :D

Digimon Adventure PSP was great, wish it was made for the Vita. The PSP limitations are so obvious (though PPSSPP certainly made it look better on my second playthrough. My first playthrough was via component cables from the PSP into my TV)

Man when are they going to show a trailer......spring is coming soon.

I wonder what will happen first, Cyber Sleuths release (12th of March) or a trailer for Digimon Adventure Tri?

edit: My GEM figures have now been shipped. They should be here by the end of next week/start of the week after (they will get caught by customs which = letter sent to me for money first.

They're more than likely waiting for sales numbers for cyber sleuth in japan before they localize it. I'm guessing it's definitly on the tables at this point. Re:Digitize...Whilst I would prefer it over CS I doubt iwll hapen, with the japanese sales numbers being relatively low (if they dont count the PSP sales) and the fact that there's a fan translation in the works... It seems unlikely. Having said that, I would gladly buy both games twice each if they get localized.

Nah, I'm pretty sure they won't be using the JP sales numbers. If they did that for every game, they would probably go bankrupt from games that sell well in Japan but crap internationally.

Granted at this point, I'm not sure how the big the Digimon fan base is in Japan (today) let alone overseas but like I said, don't count out Cyber Sleuth.

I was talking about Digimon specifically, the last few Digimon games didnt sell all that well so they're probably want to be sure they bring the right game - they've seen the need for the game via the petition. Well, they're still making Digimon games for the Japan fanbase and aren't for the rest of the world so it must be strong or at least enough to warrant them. Everything is conjecture at this point so nobody's wrong or right.

Yeah in the case of Cyber Sleuth, even the importers would probably help the chances of it getting localized. Sad thing, is they will probably just toss it as a DD title like SAO, even though SAO hit numbers so big, that most boxed games don't even sell that number. I know it's the whole "take it or leave it" thing, but sometimes it's weird how they pick and chose some games that go boxed or not now.
Project Diva: yes, Yakuza 5, no
One Piece: yes, SAO: no.
>_> Makes no sense sometimes...

Just watched the Japanese dub for the first two Digimon movies, so good. I remember watching the English dub as a kid back in the 90s and thinking it was really great but now I can appreciate the sub all the more. Total hype for this and the new Yu Gi Oh movie

I know what you mean. I think I watched the english movie like 20 times when it came out on VHS. I had no idea what I was missing until I saw the (terrible transfers at the time...) of the first 2 movies of Hosoda's greatness.

After the Yamato/Sora wedding, there will only be five of us in here. :P

Ah, I see. That's too bad.

I knew Bolero from my limited time in band class. It's one of those songs that feels like it goes forever. The slow build-up is great though and it has this "giant machinery" thing going on. (My way of describing music is very basic, lol.)

I can say pretty much with 100% certainty that Decode won't happen. but Cyber Sleuth... well. Just keep your hopes up and keep asking for it :)
Let me dream, bro, let me dream. :P

The first two movies are so good. It's too bad the American release makes you sit through Hurricane Touchdown after seeing Our War Game.

That's cause they're all connected!! :D

"Hey Tai, this random kid on the internet named W̶a̶l̶l̶a̶c̶e̶ Willis e-mailed me. He lives in [insert state here] and says that he is involved or something. And he is a genius, but that will never be brought up again."

10/10 would write again.

I honestly still can't believe that they did that, with tying in 3 semi-unrelated movies together :/

As far as I'm concerned, it's the worst dub ever produced. People complain about the original Nausicaa, "Warriors of the Wind" cutting 20 mins of content... I've seen that too and seriously, what Digimon: The Movie did was worse: cut 20 mins of content, tied 3 separate movies together, overhauled lots of dialogue (especially to make all of the movies fit), edit some footage out of order (Wendimon dancing...), changed all the music to rock...

Out of all the anime that are notorious for having bad dubs or heavy edits etc., this one takes the cake and can't even compare :/ I used to get into debates online with explaining how it was worse than the original One Piece dub, even. I mean, nostalgia-factor aside, ANYONE that viewed this movie AFTER seeing the original would automatically pan it, no doubt. People would hate on it so bad if it was ever that way.

Just about every Digimon dub is in that category. The movie was the worst, but Adventure and 02's TV series dubs were downright abysmal, too, and the later ones weren't much better. The franchise has been completely fucked over in the US for 16 years.

I've always said that the Pokemon dub is a MUCH more faithful dub, despite what people tend to believe :/ Besides localized names of people and Pokemon, the dialogue is usually spot-on (except for edits during the original season, a couple tweaks to the script, and the whole donut-riceball thing).

Pokemon's dub is 'more faithful', but the dialogue is almost never spot on. There's a whole website dedicated to all the changes the dub makes. It's not as bad as Digimon, but a lot of the dialogue is altered a pretty decent amount.

But Digimon's dub was 100x worse than Pokemon's. Constant forced humor and tone shifts, replacing every single music track, changing almost every single character's personality, bullshit death cover ups, and a lot more. Dubbed Digimon was fundamentally a completely different show.

Yeah it's not perfect, and of course Pokemon will still alter a little bit, even now. I'm glad Pokemon kept the original background music as well, as it just brings you back to the game. Digimon just... yeah :/ I wish more people that have only seen the dub would check it out subbed. Nostalgia... covers up a lot, sometimes. As someone who LOVED the show, but at the time only had dub-access, I can't go back :/ It's like 2 completely different shows. I think a lot of people that will check out subbed Tri (crossing fingers on simul-cast but I'm doubtful) will be pretty surprised with the characters. I also expect a lot of flack from the voices too (although even now, Matt > Yamato's voice. Agumon is a close second).

The Digimon Adventure movie is ruined by Kari talking over it, trying to explain why Willis was involved, what Digimon are blah, blah, blah... (I wonder how much Lara Jill Miller was paid for this) Also no Bolero. :(

Our War Game was the only movie that felt intact (and the rock/pop didn't clash with it) but it is taken down a few notches by being tied to completely unrelated movies and having parts shortened or cut out. It also feels like the climax of the movie before the actual climax.

Hurricane Touchdown is the biggest mess. Unsurprisingly since it was the only feature length movie included. Things are cut, moved around, shortened (Davis crying scene), and the animation is jarringly different (imo). The pop music ruins the tone. It ends with Wendigomon dancing to "All-Star"... :/

I use to love the American movie so much, but man was it bad. And I actually still like some of the Digimon dubs.

People love it though, for some reason. They probably just remember the awesome middle part.

I still like dub Digimon. ESPECIALLY Tamers. (If they sugar-coated Tamers, I sure as hell didn't notice... ;_;)

Tamers was probably the most faithful and the best Digimon dub, imo.

Ew. That really did feel like FoxKids :/ I'm surprised they are STILL doing the whole "give main characters super-common American names". At least the first season did it to the effect of nicknames, which did work (and yet still had a Sora instead of a Samantha or something). If it was later on, it would be something like Tai-Tyrone, and maybe even Jou/Joe-Joey :/ Even something like "Izzy" was neat, derived from his last name, and not something like Koushirou-Cameron.

Yeaaah, the Adventure English dub did NOT age well.
I remember reading a comparison site and so much of the dub's dialogue was mean-spirited. Looking at it now, the constant noise got to me and I couldn't watch.

Also, it seems the Xros Wars dub is continuing.
... This is part of the 90s/early 00s I did NOT miss. This is unfiltered cringe.

... what was that... Looking at some of the Fusion stuff, holy crap did they mess up Xros Wars. This must be how people watching the English dubbed Digimon for the first time feel.

Do we know how well Fusion's doing? Probably not good if it's on Nicktoons.

I'm not the only one who checked out Chiaki J. Konaka's other stuff after Tamers and wanted more of the dark shit, right?

Serial Experiments Lain is amazing. Need to watch more Texhnolyze, Ghost Hound, Marebito, and then Parasite Dolls.

Well, they DID bring in the next season, so I guess that's a decent sign. Nicktoons barely even brings in many new shows, anyways (I mean, when ISN'T Spongebob playing on it? :p) I had to look up the episode guide, so I guess S2 contains ep 30-54 of Xros Wars (looking at MAL, I forgot it was another series with the "Death General" arc). I'm sure they will bring in Boy Hunters as a S3 though.

Judging by the Youtube comments, it looks like the show does have it's fans. Too bad Crunchyroll doesn't advertise more opening, since it DOES have all of Xros Wars and Boy Hunters subbed. Maybe those are dub-only fans, who knows. CR definitely would get a lot more popular if it went more mainstream and maybe did a TV commercial here and there, but well, $$ :/ At least it is getting more popular. I still like supporting my animes via streams :) (Then I buy the best ones :p)

It's probably not doing well.
It first aired on Nickeldoeon for like 2 episodes but got pulled for unknown reasons (might have gotten in the way of their Spongebob quota). It also aired on The Vortexx, but now that's dead alongside the rest of Saturday Morning Cartoons.
So that just leaves Nicktoons, a channel that isn't in as many homes.

I have to wonder if Toei will approach another company to dub Tri since Saban isn't exactly pulling their weight with Xros Wars.

Oh my bad, I keep forgetting that Nicktoons is a separate channel >_> I don't use cable so I'm not really in touch.

I would REALLY hope that Tri goes to someone else, but it's doubtful. Saban I believe still owns some of the Digimon license, although I'm confused about the ownership. It went Saban-Disney-Saban?
