now I'm all pissy-eyed, RIP and LLAP Mr Nimoy.

A little piece of Canadiana for you all.

It used to be a common occurrence that the image of Sir Wilfrid Laurier on our Canadian 5 dollar bill would get defaced with a ballpoint pen or a sharpie to look like Spock. I still have a five dollar spockbuck on me that I keep in my wallet. I will never get rid of it now. What is interesting, is that the current plastic five dollar bill has a scene with astronauts in space using a Canadian made robotic arm on the back of it.... Was the space scene inspired by the Spock vandalism?

LLAP.

Never been huge on Star Trek but he was iconic. I used to be teased by some as a kid for having sharp eyes, ear and eyebrows like Spock.

A fellow actor of his once said something along the lines it was odd that he ended up in acting, considering how intellectual he actually was. He was genuinely talented in many things.

Amazing voice actor too, I don't know who was responsible for getting him to do the narration on the Dreamcast game Seaman, but it was an inspired choice. His cameos in cartoons were always great.

R.I.P. Mr. Nimoy, I admired you and your character, "Mr. Spock" for ages. As a child growing up, I tried to emulate some of the characteristics that Spock had into my own. You will truly be missed. Thank You.

Of all the souls I have encountered, his was the most... human.

Damn... :_(

Mr. Nimoy, you will be missed.

It's going to feel so strange watching those TOS episodes now along with all the ST movies he was in. I don't remember being this affected by a celebrity's passing.

Very sad news, indeed :(. He brought real gravitas to his role of Spock, in the original Star Trek series (once he found his footing), and made the show significantly more believable, because of it.

It's a shame he didn't apply Vulkan "logic" to his smoking habit, earlier, as I doubt any Vulkans smoke, as it's highly illogical. Of course, his character was half human, but his human side rarely showed through.

He quit over 30 years ago. It was far less known that smoking was bad for you in the 60s and 70's.

I was at work all day, but man, this is really hitting me know. Such a fucking awesome guy. He's one of the few who truly played a timeless icon.

Quite right (deleted bogus paragraph). For some reason I misread the OP as three years, instead of three decades... Was about to correct after reading BBC News article.

You know, I kind of wish whoever was running Nimoy's Twitter account would have just left it with that final tweet rather than retweeting all the tributes.

Still so sad about this. I see lots of people commenting that Nasa should send his remains into deep space. As silly as that sounds, I actually think it would be quite fitting.

Nah, I hope he gets buried in the ground quickly and rots away quick, as our people should.

Just the thought of him getting cremated seems... so wrong.

Then again, it's all dependent on what his final wishes were. Regardless, I hope there is some sort of memorial; it hurt so much, clothing was torn for his man.

I miss him already.

RIP Leonard Nimoy. I was never a Star Trek guy, but he always showed great gratitude to his fanbase which is something I respect, and he seemed - based on what I've read over the years - to be a decent human being.

He's brought many dreams of space and adventure to families around the world for decades. May he return to space as star stuff to brighten up the sky once more.

I think I want to watch some TOS today.

Anyone know what would be the best Spock / Nimoy episodes to watch? My Original series knowledge isnt the best

Well watched some classic TOS and Wrath of Khan. Settling into "He's not really gone if we remember him" mode now.

Enjoyed reading some of the anecdotes and remembrances in various obituaries and coverage.
