It's amazing to see my friend who has openly critized Apple for no removable battery for years, completely make a U-turn on S6 because "the battery is fine now".

I've just noticed the dude is smiling more in the iPhone 6 plus photo. People prefer to be photographed by an iPhone confirmed.

Yeah, if you want a outdated device.

The QuadHD screens eat battery in hours and your 2,5GHZ, quad core CPU reach those 2,5GHz only in benchmarks, because after few minutes they throttle to around half of that speed.
Say what you want about Apple, but they don't pack chips that heat so much they don't work at their nominal speed.

I wonder how accurate this image is. Hmmm…

For all we know they could have lowered exposure on the iPhone or boosted it on the S6.
I think they have chosen a situation that highlights the iphones 1/15s shutter speed limitation.
This is why the image is underexposed.

Not the 6 plus.

However, in order to keep pace with the iPhone 6's maximum of 2000 ISO and 1/15s exposure time, the iPhone 6 Plus drives exposure time as far as a quarter of a second, which is four times as long.

1/15th of a second is really low either way and will show motion blur if the subjects move. I think it's just exposed for the bright lights in the background.

For all we know they could have lowered exposure on the iPhone or boosted it on the S6. White balance looks better in my eyes on the iPhone (too warm on the S6).

Comparisons like this are always funny because you could take a 48,000$ Phase One and shoot a black frame if you wanted to. Show me something repeatable and falsifiable.
When they showed it during the press conference they said the S6 was using default settings, no touch-ups or Photoshop.

As a owner of the S5 I am not really impressed by what I saw and am kind of dissapointed in the removal of micro SD. I have a ton of music that I have aquired over the years from one phone to the others so even if it does have 64gb built in it won't really be enough.

I will wait for the Note 5 to see how that turns out.

Bleh.
Oh well my new contract came with a S5 last year so I would anyway not buy the S6 and wait till next year at least. I just hope the S6 tanks and that the S7 will include all the stuff from the S5 again.

Better camera, sure.
I don't give a fuck about 1080p+ screens in a fucking phone, just eats more battery life and the battery here is not exactly big to start with. Who cares if it's 50% faster to charge.

I'm not really against built-in batteries though. At least if the built-in battery is actually big... (I never felt the need to switch mine)
I really want phones to be water proof, but I'm a bit anxious about my S5 because if the seal is not completely closed, the phone will be dead. So if the phone itself would be factory sealed and only the USB, micro-SD and headphone opening were be possible to expose to the water, I would be much more comfortable with that feature.

But as the S6 ,with it's built-in battery, is neither water-proof nor has micro-SD, it's like the worst of both worlds :P

I'm not familiar with wireless charging, don't you still need to put in next to a charging station? Not really more useful than a cable?

I wonder if the fingerprint sensor is improved so that's as good as Apple's solution.

No removable battery and SD card is a deal breaker. Awful decision when those two are the most attractive features to the device, along with the specs.

Have you used a xiaomi phone for an extended period of time? Once the honeymoon usually ends in divorce

I have yes. Most of my phones are from Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi and Huawei.

How much is this version? Any reviews?

3299RMB. Not out overseas so don't expect it to get much coverage in regards to reviews. But there are some if yoh search Google.

No 2 Ghz octa core, big.LITTLE.
2.0 Ghz quad core A57 cluster (big) and 1.5 Ghz quad core A53 cluster (little). A53s are what low end phones like the Moto E and G have.

What part of my post was wrong? It sounds like you just want to trash Qualcomm here.

My pre-order fingers are itching. Can't wait until this drops, though I'm not sure if I want the Edge or the regular model. Regardless, I'm so hype for April.

Hope you're calling him out for it. Sounds just like Apple fans with their screen resolution.

Apple releases 480p vs Android 720p: "480p is perfect, everything above is a waste".

Very disappointed with the confirmation that SD-card storage was removed. Not in the mood to upgrade.

I think i'd rather take my chances with the next Nexus phone or wait one more year and see if they bring back SD-Card support in S7.

Do you ever make a post where the final goal isn't to talk shit about apple?

S6 edge 32GB. I'm expecting this to be $300 on contract. I have my wallet ready, Samsung. Bring it.

The edge is beautiful but I don't know how practical it'll be. Im worried about accidental inputs while holding the phone and whether it will be comfortable holding the phone in landscape for a long period of time without the phone digging into your fingers. Its one of the things I hate about the 6 design, the thin curvy sides suck for holding it in landscape, which I do often for video watching.

Damn is it pretty though. I'll probably end up going with the regular S6 with lots of memory. I hope the off contract isn't crazy for the 128gb model.

I can't believe that Samsung of all companies has made the ultimate phone for my tastes.

I'm still holding onto the 4" screen size being perfect and anything above being a bunch of silliness.

The best move Samsung made this year was to not make the Edge version gimped compared to the normal S6.
It's exactly the same phone aside the curved screen (and a bigger battery).

Aslo correct me if i'm wrong but the S5's Snapdragon 801 was on 28nm right? If so the jump from 28nm to 14nm FinFET will be absolutely huge and it's more than enough to cover the reduction in battery size.

You and me both... too bad there's nothing on the market for us anymore.

I'm glad that Samsung isn't following the herd and putting in their own SOC. My only worry is with app compatibility, but samsung is a big OEM so I'm sure developers will test against the S6 in the future.

I used to be with you until I gave this damn thing (Note 3) a shot. Never going back. With the stylus, its ability to function as a tablet for note-taking has been incredibly useful in meetings.

Do you ever make a post where the final goal isn't to talk shit about apple?

You seem to be confusing me talking shit about Apple consumers and me talking shit about Apple. Apple is an amazing company that does incredibly well for its shareholders, a point I've made time and time again.

Thanks to mobilesyrup we now know how much the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will cost in Canada.

The one thing that bugs me about the edge variant is that it supposedly has the same resolution as the standard. Now consider the fact that phones are the same width (within half a mm), and that the display goes the entire width of the phone and bends down. If you took the non edge screen and bent it down, it'd become narrower. So we have a situation where the same resolution is being applied to two different aspect ratio screens (edge being wider). Non-square pixels? Seems unlikely. Just odd.

I see that edge being more harmful than good in daily use. Still, it's some brazen engineering done by Samsung here. I like the bravery, since their last four s-phones have felt completely boring to me.

From what I understood in the first look, the S6 edge no longer has a really discrete "edge" display. They just bend the edges of the panel (and bend it less than the Note Edge). There is still a pretty noticeable lip on the sides (at a glance, it looks like a thicker lip than on the regular S6) so I'm guessing it's just a standard SAMOLED shape but with whatever tech they needed to bend it. :/

2015: The year when smart phones specs no longer matter.

Keep arguing about core-count, frequency, and PPI, guys.

Specs will always matter, and ever improving specs will likely also always continue to push enhanced performance. You know those speed tests people go on about, that include web browsing, media playback, games and app loading, multitasking, camera functionality etc, yea, all that stuff.

No SD card or weather proof, and same design as iPhone 4 years ago.

Man I really hope they dont mess up the Note 5 later this year, Im due for an upgrade then and was looking forward to it, no way in hell im paying $1k for 128GB, I need my SD card.

I've owned an iPhone for the past three cycles but damn that S6 Edge is beautiful.

Then again, I'm not buying a phone over 5" so I won't be buying one. :(

Yeah, I know it's nowhere near the note when it comes to extending the display. Looking at the photos head on again, I guess you're right. It does appear to have roughly the same bezel. I'd have to break out Photoshop at home to really get a feel for it, but it wasn't as wide as I remember it looking. The damn angle shots really screw with perspective on how the screen looks.
