Your Lie in April (Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso) IOTI Life is Colorful

I wonder if she's going to really play again, or just needed that "punch" to give her some hope. She's lost the color of her life, but got a little bit of it back just by listening to that performance - which was amazing, by the way.

The hints seem to be pointing that they'll both play at the piano. How else could they be side by side?

Damn it, this show gets me every week. So inspiring. For it's medium, its a lot smarter and a whole lot more introspective than 99% of what's on TV. I don't want this series to end, but I know it has to.

You guys should also check out Nodame Cantabile if you haven't already. It's also incredibly inspiring for a range of reasons. The second and third season were directed by someone else and as a result dip a bit in quality, but the first season remains a true classic.

I've been catching up on episodes of this and watching Mozart in the Jungle back to back. It's just kind of funny that in both the violinist are pretty similar. There is also a pianist with some major mother issues. Neither of them are leads but I guess there is a inside joke about musicians I'm missing.

Overall I'm pretty happy how this show has turned out. All the characters have such strong individual personalities. The story hasnt delved into some awful anime clichés. The art and animation has been consistently amazing. The soundtrack has of course also been outstanding. This might become one of my favorite shows of the decade.

it's funny, this is my first non-violent anime TV series I've been following, I play the piano also , this show really has inspired me to practice again lol

have to say again the animation/soundtrack has been amazing

a little sad that we will only have 4 episodes left :(

for those who's looking for some piano or classical music related manga, there's this one call "piano no mori". it's a pretty long series and kinda slow, but it is REALLY good. check it out if you can find it. really wish someone would animate it. would be great if done right.

I'm only 9 episodes in but this anime is already kicking me in the feels. It's so beautiful and so well constructed that I can't stop watching it but I think I might need a heart transplant by the time I reach the end. The foreshadowing is already pretty ominous. Arrgh, why does this show have to be so good?

I agree, this anime is amazing. It is so emotional and beautiful. I am not giving up on Kaori, although it really looks bad for her, but the last episode gave me some hope.

Kousei may have given Kaori that boost of energy to push through, so let's be hopeful about that

also grab the OST if you have the chance, it really reflects the mood of the anime

just a little sad that we only have 4 more episodes left

Yep, every episode got me like.

Music-centric anime always seem to wreck me for some reason.
Hard to believe it's already been a decade since BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad.

I watched through BECK about 2 months ago, really great show and I didn't want it to end where it did. Only complaint I had was the kinda bad singing from Koyuki and his horrible English. The bad English fits with his character at least, but come on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20vKfjOwAJw

Those are not words!

I share those same grievances which is the main reason why I'll endorse the English dub experience on that one. They did a first-rate job of adapting it and the "bad English" distraction ceases to be an issue.

I did watch the first episode with the English dub first and then the second episode with subs (do this for most stuff just to see if I like the dub or not) and I prefered the sub. English voices probably would've grown on me if I just stuck with it, but meh. The bad English was not something I really cared about after a while anyway.

And while waiting for the next episode of this show, I'm currently going through Nodame Cantabile. At ep18 right now and I'm loving it so far.

good, looks like Kaori is getting better, everyone is inspired by Kousei

the scene with Emily, Takeshi, Kousei was cute

3 more episodes left

she better hold up her promise to play one more time with Kousei

imagine the feels on that performance , yikes

Believe. I really enjoyed this episode, especially now that we have come full circle. Kaori brought to colour back into Kousei's life and gave him a reason to play, now Kousei has brought the colour back to her life and is her reason to play. Wonderful stuff.

Good episode, but why am I mentally preparing myself for some tragic shit :(

Because there is almost no chance that this is gonna end on a happy note. Maybe we'll get a bittersweet ending but I bet it's going to be depressing as hell. Wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't make it through surgery actually (always go in with the lowest expectations).

This show is optimistic in nature, nothing we've seen would suggest that we are going to get a downer ending. Worst case scenario is we get a bittersweet tragic but hopeful sort of ending. The show isn't going to do a massive tonal shift to end on a depressing note.

For anyone who likes romantic shounen stuff, you should definitely be reading Horimiya. It just got licensed by Yen Press yesterday also so now is a great time to jump in.

Well, hope and optimism are an important theme that's true but I don't think it's enough to overcome the (what I think is) inevitable. The show isn't going to end in total despair, but I disagree that nothing we've seen points toward a downer ending. Maybe you are right but I'd be very surprised.

It's not going to be a happy ending, Kaori is almost certainly going to die. But I'm doubt they'll use that to end it with a depressing tone.

There is no way it will be a depressing ending, even if she dies. For a show which repeatedly emphasizes the joy and hope of music that would be very tonally dissonant.

Yeah, probably some kind of "cherish the memories but look forward" stuff. Still, her dying would be a downer nontheless.

the best I can hope for is an open ending

3 more episodes left :(

It's a full adaptation. The manga is 44 chapters long, the anime is 22 episodes.

We're getting an ending.
Prepare yourselves people!

Just for reference in my chapters to anime statement, the Nisekoi anime goes through 2.5 chapters and episode, so yeah...

I'm watching the anime and reading the manga and I just feel a disconnect because I don't really like Kaori( Tsubaki is where it's at).mainly because I feel like I've seen her story in some indie-ish film or a book I've read before and it annoyed me there as well

It sucks because its a great piece of work but it's not affecting me as much of I would've liked the character

I know exactly how you feel. I like Kaori, but I also prefer Tsubaki. I expected her and Watari to end up together after Kōsei and Kaori but now I'm not so sure.

damn it. mcguffin surgery will save the day. hope it doesn't!

You're the worst.

Man, Ep. 20 had it all, it's incredible how this anime keeps delivering every week.

I agree. I particularly appreciate that Kousei finally figured it out after asking in a number of episodes "what is this feeling"? (I recall episode 2 and 3 and another one later on I believe) Finally he figured out that feeling is love, and I think seeing Kaori like that this week as well as the death of the cat reemphasizing that now he's realized he loves her he can't afford to waste time in letting her know.

Also for anyone who enjoyed the first opening Hikaru Nara, the band Goose house released their new albums last week. You can find them here https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/bitter/id965052714 and here https://itunes.apple.com/jp/album/milk/id964428797. The second one includes Hikaru Nara and Oto No Naru Hou E--> (the ED for Silver Spoon 2)
