Your Lie in April (Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso) IOTI Life is Colorful

all I really want in the next few episodes is for them to play again together for one last time, but based on latest episode, she can barely hold the violin bow, this is looking less likely to happen

This is anime, where hopes and dreams come true. Mark my words it will happen

watch them pull the bullshit 'reset' of Clannad s2.

If that happens...
you know what, it probably won't.

If it does i will be beyond pissed off. HATED Clannad after story's ending. undermined the whole damn season!!!

I love what they did with color this weeks episode. How Kaori's colours are significantly more bland and drained compared to everywhere else in a scene (even subtly) and even more so when you compare how she was to how she is now.

Brings a very good interpretation of her ills, but also of her current emotional disconnect from everyone (especially Kousei).

I first thought when Kousei ran into her while she was waiting for him, Kaori wasn't really there. She looked like a ghost.

oh, if you get the chance, grab the OST, it is beautiful as the anime, one of the best OST of any genre I've heard

I picked it up a few weeks ago, it's very good stuff. If anyone is interested I did a very rough translation of the tracklist

so who is excited for the episode today?, I'm not, I'll just pretend Episode 11 was the ending, Kousei finally made peace with his past in that episode and accepted his feelings towards Kaori

I predict death flags everywhere today

If we stopped at episode 11 we wouldn't have gotten that Kaori is reciprocating his feelings though. I am excite.

Episode 17

Fairly good episode. Watari helping Kousei out and a lot of focus on Nagi. Can't wait for next week..

A part of me is tempted to check the manga spoilers and see what the ending is, but I shall resist.

it was a good episode, glad to see that she was just joking about it , Watari really understands the situation well

just resist checking the manga, I've hold out for this long too, only 5 more episodes left though

if you have enough self control, go ahead and just read to the part where the show is at. it's a great experience.

I guess I can't be annoyed at flags when they're coming out of the persons mouth and they're direct about it. I guess those don't count as flags at all.

I like the "concert through the phone" angle, though it's a shame she couldn't show up at the school. Then again, I guess it'd probably throw him to have her show up in a wheelchair like his mother did, so maybe it's for the best. At least Watari realizes what is actually going on there and isn't fighting it.

Watari is a huge bro confirmed and the only person who has a good grasp on the situation.

Although Kaori played it off as a joke about the double suicide thing, that's definitely not the type of thing to be said normally and it's pretty clear that she had an intent behind it. In the book Ichigo Domei (the book she was referencing) which both her and Kousei have read the main protagonist reacts the exact same way, it's almost eerie how similar that scene was. Plus they are both obviously aware of the context of that line (the girl Naomi who is terminally ill in the book, says that line to the protagonist who has fallen in love with her and her with him) so it's actually a very clever way for her to express her feelings for Kousei. Also the song (Rave'ls "Pavane for a Dead Princess") which was going on in Kousei's head later is also from that book as the protagonist plays it for Naomi, which is why he didn't want to hear it because he doesn't want things to turn out the same in this case.

Watari is definitely a real bro.

In the beginning of the series, I always thought he would have a thing for Tsubaki for some reason.

As someone who accidentally did spoil themselves by looking at one of the character bios on MAL,

I don't recommend spoiling yourself. It'll be better to experience the story as things unfold.

This kinda feels like a series partly ruined by its own foreshadowing. =/

Ah well, looking forward to the wrap, it was pretty good.

Seriously, can I cast a vote somewhere for Watari as Bro of the Year?

And thank you for the added context for those scenes. That's something that is definitely lost in translation.

No problem, there was actually a lot of subtlety to this episode that can easily be lost to non-japanese viewers, especially with the significance of the book and the different context double suicide has over there. I wish it could be explained better in the show but unfortunately it's just one of those things that gets lost in translation.

I realized about the meaning of what she said, but never knew abour 'Ravel' , I was wracking my brains if it was something in the past episodes

also in that last scene with Kaori, that was the sound of the applause on the cellphone right? so that is what Kousei asked Watari for? for a minute there I thought it was the sound of rain. Watari is a bro's bro.

and oh, Kaori really looks sickly in that last shot, her hair is just limp and dying :(

To clarify, the name of the actual song is "Pavane for a Dead Princess" by Ravel.

The book is also referenced a number of other times when she says "I didn't think you would come back again" and her calling him weird.

I didn't hear applause, I thought it was the sound of rain as she was waiting for the performance to begin.

Edit: Nope you're right, that is the applause.

Ah well, looking forward to the wrap, it was pretty good.

Part of the impact is definitely lost due to how obvious it was much earlier on in the series. Then again, since we know, we get to view her actions through that lens on the first watch instead of the second watch, which is one benefit of the author doing it this way.

best part was the cameo from the best music anime.

apriil.PNG

and what is the show that this cameo is referring to?

also maybe once Kaori hears Kousei playing in the school festival just for her, she will feel better and be inspired like what happened to Kousei, and the road to recovery begins? one can hope

nodame cantabile. Fantastic musical romcom manga that was adapted into a great anime and live action show. The mongoose on the right is the mascot (main character dressed up as a mongoose for a school festival)

thanks for the anime title guys

now for Episode 18, that was beautiful wasn't it? I guess we will see Kousei and Kaori play together again

I'm glad to see the piano playing as forefront of an episode again, Sleeping Beauty is an apt piano title for Nagi I guess

I enjoyed this episode, what a powerful performance. Also good to see Kousei and Kaori continually making progress, there is no way they don't perform together again.
