Fraternity chanting the n-word

No one is going to get expelled for this, im betting. Frat will get sanctioned or kicked off of campus, but expelling students for the N word? Don't think that's going to happen.

What about: "You can hang'em from a tree,"?

Was thinking about making this thread myself. Atleast the school and frat acted swiftly as hell. This video went up only a few hours ago and the frat is already shut down. Honestly wasn't expecting to see any action being taken until at least tomorrow.

Now there won't be anybody in SAE.

Can anyone tell me what the purpose of a fraternity is? I never quite understood that (and why they always have such ridiculous names).

Partying in college, networking afterwards. Good Ol' Boys helping each other get cushy jobs in the petroleum and natural gas industries.

So the person who took this video had some pretty huge cajones. I'll bet there's a lot of angry dickheads looking for them now. Yikes.

How did anyone in that group possibly say" yeah, this is totally a good idea and worth doing" I mean what the heck I just don't get people. What'd they expect to happen?

I just looked up a list of notable Sigma Alpha Epsilon members on wiki. Damn.

Lots of power here. No wonder they acted so quickly.

I want to post some kind of response to this, but I just can't find the words. Trying to wrap my head around the kind of mindset that goes into harboring this much hate for another race...it's just really depressing to think about.

So the person who took this video had some pretty huge cajones. I'll bet there's a lot of angry dickheads looking for them now. Yikes.
I'm glad there was at least one sensible person among them. Who knows how much shit like this people get away with.
So how the fuck did they all know the chant? Did someone pass lyrics around? Jesus.

This is just the first time it has been filmed.

You make it sound like that's a ridiculous idea.

That shit is stomach turning. I can't imagine them NOT getting expelled. Why wouldn't they be?

Lol yep. Was thinking this same thing. On the flip side if the guys in the video don't get expelled, it's going to be pretty awkward for them in class tomorrow.

There uh... there any African-Americans on that list?

Of course not. Greek Society on campuses are still pretty much segregated. Rarely do you have white guys pledging black organizations or vice-versa.

You make it sound like that's a ridiculous idea.

Because in the end they were just chanting/joking/whatever some racist shit on a bus. I think this is pretty stupid and reprehensible, but I don't know if its something I want to see people kicked out of school for either.

Sounds like an old chant thats been used for a while. I seriously doubt this single branch of the frat came up with the chant.

I went to a college in the north east that had some black members in a largely white frat. but you're right. it's rare.

So how the fuck did they all know the chant? Did someone pass lyrics around? Jesus.

I'm just going to assume instead of singing Kumbaya at a campfire they just chant this instead. Unlucky for them (fortunately for the world) someone decided to tape it for once. The only thing that I wonder is if this person was doing it to show the world this shit, or if they were saving it to remember these good old times on the bus.

So I've never been privy to the secrets of fraternities and sororities. Is this a fraternity wide occurrence or is it just the chapter? It didn't sound like a localized chant.

I went to a college in the north east that had some black members in a largely white frat. but you're right. it's rare.

Even rarer at the University of Georgia. You were more apt to find a majority-white sorority with black members than frats, though, that's for sure.

The power on that list makes me worry this story will get no coverage. :(

lol, that was probably the point of them acting so swiftly. Minimize the damage.

It looks like that list is mostly power in the south, but man. Richard Russell is on that list.....like, EVERYTHING in Georgia has got that guy's name on it.

Max Baucus, too. Serious political clout there.

In case anyone is curious and/or haven't seen it in action yet, this right here is why nothing will change regarding racism in America.

According to wiki SAE has been trouble for some time.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon has had nine deaths linked to drinking, drugs and hazing since 2006, more than any other Greek organization, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.[4] More than 100 chapters have been disciplined since 2007, with at least fifteen suspended or closed since 2010. A potential initiate to the SAE chapter at Salisbury University in Maryland alleged that he was beaten with a paddle, forced to drink alcohol to the point of losing consciousness and confined in a basement for nine hours without access to food, water or a bathroom while being subjected to music torture, an experience described as being "almost like Guantanamo Bay". The allegations were verified by a university investigation that lead to the suspension of the chapter on the grounds that it had violated Salisbury policies on alcohol, hazing, and threats or acts of violence.[4]

As a result of these incidents, student members pay among the highest rates for liability insurance of any fraternity.[4] In March 2014 JPMorgan Chase stopped managing an investment account of SAE's charitable foundation, with bad publicity from hazing as the likely cause.[9]

I'm so disgusted by these people and those who quietly let it continue so as not to rock the boat. I do hope the original filmer doesn't suffer to much for bringing this to light, it needed to be seen.
