I'm not sold on the Watch yet but i can't help but notice how similar the reactions are to the Ipad reveal.

it'll sell like hotcakes, but its just not made for practical people. similar to when the iphone came out, many people didnt jump in until like the 4th gen

so this just happened

Not surprised as the China pandering. Only mainlanders would buy something this gaudy and tacky.

Nothing about the functionality they've shown looks compelling at all. Some of this stuff is straight up Samsung-esque... seriously, drawing on your watch? Give me a break. Not to mention how ugly this thing looks. I'll give them props for trying real hard to turn it into a fashion item but yeesh.

I have a feeling the MacBook stuff will probably be the best part of this conference.

I am actually shocked that Apple thought demoing Instagram on your watch would be a good idea. Just awful.

who would seriously use this watch to check instagram and be limited to that UI instead of just popping up your phone and get all of its features with ease.

This watch seems to be suffering from Gen 1 woes. Apple hardcore fans and people who have money to burn will buy this. I will wait for gen 2

totally the more sensible move.

but being an early adopter also lets you experience the "childhood" of a new ecosystem. You'll see apps grow and do more.

It makes me cherish today's phone apps so much more if i think back at all those gimmicky accelerometer-proof-of-concept apps and ugly webviews from iPhone OS 2.0

you can sell your first gen model when the second gen comes around and you may have "wasted" like $100 tops to having been part of the first gen. It's not that high of an investment

Will wait for the next gen to see what that has. This thing is just not for me. I don't see the appeal of doing all this on your wrist when we're already doing it with our phones.

Apple have mastered the faux live demo. Just works too well, including speech recognition etc.

That iPhone 4 presentation changed things forever.

GIMME THE PRICES

Edit: but I may be wrong.

AHHH thats what im thinking of. yeah many of these gimmics feel like the bullshit samsung puts in their galaxy phones.

I want digital touch on iOS on iPhone and iPad.

But then it's not digital touch. 'Digital touch' refers to physically touching another human being, I think. The physical feeling the watch produces on the wrist with its taptic thingymajig is what makes it special.

ok, wifi range is pretty good when at home. should let you leave it charging and still reach you.

And although my gut reaction is 'why would you talk to your watch' - for quick responses it could be ok, especially if the alternative is fishing your phone out of a bag.

Does that matter?

Yes, why wouldn't it? If the goal is to reduce time or make it easier, why would you require the user to take off the watch or awkwardly finagle their wrist to do something that they could do with their phone easier?

I'm not trolling, it legitimately seems awkward to me.

I don't think that's a great analogy. Unless you are a US Senator you need a cell phone. No one needs a $1,000 watch. It'll be for uber rich people and tech nerds like us.
