Saddest extinction to you?

To me it's the Amsterdam Wigeon of Île Amsterdam. Somehow a very small bird finds itself on an extremely small island thousands of miles in the middle of the Indian Ocean, not to be found anywhere else, and out of the blue sailors show up and eat them all to death. Not only that, but there used to be groves on that island, which were burned away and replaced with grass for cattle grazing. It makes me sad what a number people do on the environment. There's no pictures of the animal and it's only known from bones.

The Northern White Rhino which is, for all intents and purposes, pretty much extinct. Fuck poachers.

I say fuck the people that are buying Tusks, etc and proliferating the market in the first place. It's all bad, but I hate the jackasses that find beauty in owning near extinct animal parts, or grinding it up into a soup because they can't get a boner. Fuck those idiots.

Unpopular opinion I'm sure, but I don't care if animals go extinct unless it's a common pet, common food, or highly important part of the ecology of one of the previous.

Personally it would have to be the Mammoth. It just looked so amazing and it's sad how it was one of the earliest animals we might have had a major impact in their eventual extinction.

Hmm, he doesn't seem to be dripping white hot venom, so I would give him a 6/10 on the Australian stakes

Plus, where's the stinger?

Serious question. Aren't we getting close to farming shrimp out of existence or am I thinking of another sea-fairing creature?

Every couple of years there's someone that says they spotted one out in the wild. The thing is practically Australia's big foot at this point.

not gonna lie I got on this animal back in 1985-1996 and was convinced I wanted to grow up and be Williem Dafoe and find one.

Same thing with Poachers I once wrote a paper on how I was going to become the anti-poacher and hunt and kill poachers.

wild imagination -------> that way

Tasmanian Tiger

Look how cute he is:

Yeah this one for me. I hate when fairly unique animals go extinct.

Like, one breed of rhino or whatever sucks, but there's still other rhinos out there.

The dodo as well, such a cool bird.

The Aurochs. When you think of domestication and how ubiquitous cows, bulls, have been to humanity the world over and then think that we killed the wild ancestor from which they were domesticated and descended from forever, it's just sad.

Imagine if there were no more wolves and all we were left with were dogs that are only remotely like the wild ancestor that nature and evolution had created.

The other sad extinction I read about is probably the Steller's Sea Cow. Within 27 years of Europeans finding the animal, it was hunted to extinction because it was so big and slow moving, it was easily captured and hunted for its flesh, it's fat, it's meat etc. It's closest relative is probably the Dugong now, but it was the largest mammal outside of whales. Just sad.

So logical and rational. You are surely the one known as "The Fedora wearer," that my people speak of.
