Yes, that's exactly the reason they've stretched their legs beyond working with just Sony. They want to own the games they work on, not keep creating other properties for publishers.
I share this opinion. I know a lot of people really love '90s Rare, but it's been 15 years since they've been consistently good and I don't have much faith in the company they are today.
To be honest I think this is more a case of MS not knowing what to do with Rare. They shoot down Rare's new ideas but the casual movement has failed and they've mismanaged the historic IPs.
I think both companies need to forget the legacy, move on and create something new. They've tried to reinvent Rare, but they need to unleash them and commission some completely new projects.
Conker: Live and Reloaded was on the original Xbox, and it launched as I recall about six months before the 360 launches, and was pretty much sent to die. I doubt it sold much at all.

As a huge Banjo fan I just hope that he willingly told us the wrong working opportunity in order to not make himself easily exposed, but verified with the correct credentials to the moderation (I'd be fine with being lied to in that way, I don't need to know the position of the leaker, I only need to know if he is reliable).

Well, IIRC, he was actually verified on the basis of him working on cloud tech, prior to his (now alleged) move to Crackdown. So it's possible that only the move was BS, and he's still in a position to know stuff, but wanted more attention.
I hope he's thoroughly for real, though.
I kind of hope this all isn't true.
I'd like to see a new Conker but I wouldn't like Insomniac to do it as I think the humour doesn't suit them but then again I'd imagine if they did do it the platforming would be great.
Conker's crude humour does need to modernise a bit but not too much and if someone is going to do they would probably need someone like Christopher Seavor to advise on the humour and style.
Also the idea of a quick turn around sounds very bad. I'd be really worried they would ruin what is left of any old franchise if they rush out a release and I'd imagine we would end up getting stuff like Crackdown 2 which were OK but could have been a lot better and improved on the original.
I would however like to see a new Perfect Dark and a new Banjo game but all this sounds like MS are giving other studios stuff Rare started. I would really like to see this stuff stay with Rare and see what current Rare (regardless of who has left the studio) can do with it.

Mostly referring to what would be in the monthly updates, called screenshots being early 2015 like 6 months ago etc
Everything game related he's said was talking about being announced at E3/sometime in 2015 (his old game that I think he said is now cancelled because he was moved to CD, banjo, etc), so we don't know if he was telling the truth there and won't until E3 but If I remember correctly, he even said Banjo kazooie at e3 2015 way before any of the rumours either, and that's looking somewhat likely now with Phil's tweets about rares game being true rareware and such.
He also said a while back that it wasn't cloudgine developing the actual crackdown game and the studio was unknown.. is it possible Dave is just mistaken and doesn't know who Kampfheld is, especially if it's a different studio working on it it seems possible?

Im pretty sure Crackdown has another team working on it too, Cloudgine are pretty small and I don't think they could be working on a game that size entirely by themselves.
Even with that, there is lots of outsourcing in the industry, just because he's not at Cloudgine doesn't mean he isn't working on it somewhere.
