Portal VR Tech Demo FOOTAGE

Does anyone else ever cross their eyes Magic-Eye-style when looking at things like this, so the two images become one in the middle that you can kind of see in 3D?

Wow that looks incredible

It was absolutely incredible. I have a concrete memory of this robot walking up to me. I don't recall wearing a helmet or watching a video of this robot walking up to me. I actually met this guy and dragged him apart.

Guys, I have to go back!

Nah, i opened the video on my phone and put it in my Google Cardboard and it sorta works better than crossing your eyes.

Yeah that would work better. When you cross your eyes it ends up being kind of inverted 3D, cause your left eye is looking at the right side and right eye at the left, so it isn't really proper perspective, but it gives some sense of depth.

Yep. Works especially well on a phone if you're nearsighted and hold it close.

Got to say this whole Source 2 situtation is really starting to get frustrating. We have off-screen pics, off-screen footages, pics ripped from slides, these all get posted all over the place, people freak out or get disappointed...Valve please, post something normal already.

I can't think of a better example to use than Portal. Imagine walking through portals in VR space.. that shit would be trippy as fuck! I can't even imagine doing some of the infinite falls/runs. I think my brain would collapse.

I really hope portal 3 is going to be full vr up in this bitch. That video looked incredible.

Sometime in the future: We at Valve are proud to announce our first games done in new Source 2 engine. Some of you will recognize them and without further talk enjoy. HL3 trailer rolls, Portal 3 trailer rolls, L4D3 trailer rolls. Orange Box 3 is announced! XD

I'm excited for the VR future. I am not excited about picking a horse to back since I'm pretty dumb about some of the tech. I'm hoping a clear front runner emerges soon.

That being said this looks fantastic and I'm super pumped.

I don't know if it's the off-screen-ness of it but something about the lighting makes it look very realistic on that second scene

Wow. That looks amazing. It has that signature source look but the lighting is a step ahead of anything else.

It's not only off-screen, but cleaned up too. We gotta wait for the direct feed footage, which might not arrive till the Vive consumer model ships lol
