Imo Digimon voices in English version >>>> Digimon voices in japanese version

I was like "Why does Greymon still sound like a kid instead of a damn badass dinosaur?" Kind of how I didn't like MegaGargomon still sounding like a midget.

I prefer the Japanese voices over the "SORAAAA I CAN FEEL YOUR LOVEEE".

OT name ideas still needed?

|OT| Now, Again, the localization petition evolves

... Oh wait no mean spirited ones? Uhh

|OT| Digimon World 2015

Although its more like Story games rather than World games. But it doesnt matter that much since all original 3 World games are different when compared.

|OT| With hot and cold running water

|OT| Chikkuchikku bang bang

|OT| Digivolve to

|OT| Shinka

|OT| Bakemon lose your power

|OT| Get those goggles ready

'Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth | Bandainamco pls' - representative of the digimon fanbase.
Or | Hey Digimon? , Hey Digimon |
Or |P̶e̶r̶s̶o̶. .. Digivolve! |
Or |Be the Biggest Dreamer|

|OT| Bakemon lose your power

|OT| Get those goggles ready

Lol @ the first one - but I dunno if people will remember this unless they've rewatched.
Second one is cool.

Some good OT titles though some would be better served for a hopeful localization considering some of the dub references :P

Also I just realized while working on this. Cyber Sleuth has quite a few characters in it.

It's an English speaking forum so I guess the dub would have easier to get references .

Right now it's down to

|OT| Digivolving in Cyberspace

or

|OT| Get those goggles ready (this is probably my favourite of the suggestions though if it was a english version, the Bakemon one would be very tempting haha) edit: Ok, I also liked Or |Be the Biggest Dreamer| I'll admit haha)

I also liked the Digivolve to and Shinka ones but for some reason, I don't see them being in the title lol.

Choosing OT titles is hard.

On that note, I remember seeing Nimoy some years ago (before/after Savers started to air I think) actually say he considered the dub versions a separate entity in a way (I forget the exact phrasing but it's to that effect of it being different from the JP version)

It's not even the jokes/puns that are the worst part; it's whenever the script contradicts whatever is happening on screen (I forget the exact episode, but in 02 there was a bit where Davis tried to hold Kari's hand because it was dark and it turned out to be TK...except it was explicitly daytime and Davis/TK weren't anywhere near each other). The dub was fun to revisit for nostalgia purposes, but it's still amateur-hour dubbing at it's finest.

I prefer the Japanese voices over the "SORAAAA I CAN FEEL YOUR LOVEEE".

Ahahaha oh man I lol'd so hard at that.

I still don't really understand how this fits into the series.

Does this take place after Zero Two? Before Zero Two?
Does it retcon Zero Two out of existence?

Oh there's certainly questionable scripting and forced emotion from the English actors, but if it was this or having WarGreymon sound like a 6 year old, I'd take the former.

There's also "mature sounding" but it just sounding god awful, like the English voice acting for Vegeta in the starting episodes of DBZ. Dunno if it improved since the dub kept me cringing.

Watch the trailer people! /rant
It's 3 years after zero two. I doubt it retcons zero two, may retcon the shitty ending though.

On a sidenote: Has anybody seen any good fanart? I have a couple of wallpapers from a reddit album post and they're really good.

After thinking for about 3 Minutes i think Vita Savers is the best OT Title

Ok, help me out with this one... Savers = 5th season of Digimon
Vita Savers = CS will save the vita?
Also why has Neogaf decided to add a white background to the transparent background png original file, I haven't used photoshop in a while but didn't this combo used to work ><?

Well, CS will obviously not save the Vita, because that Platform is beyond that point sadly, but some people (including me) are hoping that the Game will spark new interest in the Vita because the Game looks like the kind of Digimon Game so many were waiting for.

But this is just my Theory :)

I wanted to have something about Cyberspace in the title but the point about Vita Savers sparking new interest in the Vita almost makes that title too good to resist.

(I'll be posting the OT in a few. Just doing the finishing touches now)

I haven't watched Digimon in like 10 years so I need to refresh my mind before watching this. I'm intrigued tough.

Netflix is your friend. They have the first 3 seasons (Adventure, 02, and Tamers) and also the first season of Fusion. Pretty sure the first 3 are also available subbed.

Second season of Fusion's dub is airing this month IIRC

Well, to be fair, his point is apt in at least some respects. The dub played it loose with its own interpretation of the script and made a number of other changes were "convenient".

For example, when Dukemon first fights with Beelzebubmon, the major plot point that was lot in the dub was that, at first, nobody knew where Takato was. It wasn't until like halfway through the ep that the other characters were assured of the fact that he was in there, helping Dukemon fight from within.

Because Gallantmon had that dual-vocal thing going, that point was lost. EVERYBODY had a chance to hear Gallantmon, but somehow, it took when Kenta was being protected to finally "hear" Takato's voice? Give me a break...

Merging with your Digimon is weird even for Digimon. I don't really blame the kids for not understanding what happened even with the dual voice. Seemed reasonable enough to me that it took them a bit to realise Takato and Guilmon were one now. It just sounds kind of nitpicky.

As far as Tamers goes, the only real dubbing issue is what Leomon says with his death. In the Japanese version he talks about fate which causes Juri's downward spiral as her mother also referred to her death as fate. In the English version he talks about Jeri being brave which doesn't make as much sense in relation to her mother's death.

But it's really not that big of a deal.

It's less about being "nitpicky", and more to just go along with what Nimoy suggested: in the end, the dubs did a lot of things in their own way, come what may. Some of which was reasonable, and some that I would say were unnecessary. But in the end, it is what is.

the OP post mentions some interview translated to spanish, i understand spanish (my native language) so i would like to read it up, anyone got a link to it?

is anybody hoping...
that they intentionally kept tk/kari ambiguous because they intend to fulfill it in tri?

i know i'm clinging to this badly but this ship was just so important to me in my childhood (and so disappointing for me that it wasn't solid at the end of 02)

by the way, i'm generally surprised to learn that most people liked tamers/season 3 more than adventure 01 and to a lesser extent, 02

I was going to post the link but then I saw your post. Why do I even bother when you are around lol.

Git good, son. :P

TK and Kari might have a chance seeing as they seem to be the most popular couple and the epilogue leaves room for interpretation (even if the creator doesn't). I wouldn't get my hopes up though. (heh)

And people like Tamers, because Tamers is the GOAT. While Adventure ties it for my favorite, the amount of thought put into the writing and character development blows all other seasons away.

:((((((( why NOT? why WOULDN'T you get your hopes up man??????

we the shippers can interpret the way we want as much as we want, but it is still kinda meaningless if the creator does not acknowledge it/at least verbally canonize it. it's almost the same to me as everyone who held onto IT with the Me3 ending even after extended cut/leviathan/citadel

ok, well tamers is legit digimon shit, so it deserves an explanation. why is it that people find it to be the best digimon saga?

Some may think so (I think I remember someone else in here not liking Tamers), but I just find it to be one of the best seasons. *shrug*

Here's a short list of why I feel that way:
  • All of the main Digimon have character arcs and a distinct personality.
  • Characters aren't stereotypes (Takato subverts hot-headed leader, Ruki isn't "the girl", etc).
  • The way Digimon are handled is more "realistic". (Some might not like that, but I found it refreshing.)
  • Like Adventure, family is important to the story, which I always like.
  • It is the most morally grey season, pulling off the stuff 02 tried to do.
  • It is the only season (that I know of) where Digimon die permanently, raising the stakes a bit.
  • The way the writers incorporated the card game is probably one of the better forms of product placement I've seen in a kid's show.
  • It has Guilmon, Terriermon, and Renamon.
I could come up with more, but I think you get the idea.

Adults aren't completely useless.

Too bad it was too dark/scary for Japanese kids during that time. Once they lost that audience, it was always going to be a fight for Toei and Bandai to try and win them back, something that they would struggle with doing so for the next decade (moderate successes of Savers and the first half of Xros Wars, aside).

Part of the reason I think they went with Tri and the Cyber Sleuths Vita game being is because I think they want to try and veer more on the older, more dedicated side of the fandom. I'd be fine with it, if it meant we could get stuff like the D-Reaper and the (unfulfilled) World of Darkness/Dagomon/Dark Ocean stuff that was unresolved in 02.

didn't you also think that 02 wasn't a good season?

if you were referring to me, I didn't dislike tamers outright but I think it does not hold a candle to adventure 01 & 02 for numerous reasons.

I actually found myself agreeing with a lot of the points you put here. if only they didn't turn 01&02 into fiction in the tamer-verse.

but for the record... i wasn't a big fan of guilman or his digivolution.

I love Adventure for nostalgia reasons. I like Adventure 02 for nostalgia reason. I love Tamers for nostalgia reasons and like it for the actual quality of the show.

Its the only one I think goes past simply feeling like a kids show on many occasions.

I think I'll like Tri as well.

They didn't. That was yet another idiotic invention of the dub.
wait, seriously? that's a pretty big deal if that's true... so the tamer verse is operating in the same universe as the original digidestined?

but... I distinctly remember one of the portable games with Ryu as the main character and in the end he's given the choice of whether to live in the first universe with Ken, or the second universe or whatever, something like that.. I don't know what to believe man I want to know/believe the truth
