The battle ending with kid Jotaro punching Alessi was stupid—albeit humorous—anyways. Reviving Part 2 Joseph just so he could steal the spotlight for this one segment would have been far better.

Sure it would've been amazing but I'm pretty sure the point of these last two battles was to separate the party and have both of them fight at the same time. In that sense, I feel they fucked up by showing Jotaro and Polnareff as much as they did during the Mariah battle and then the Iggy scene before Alessi's battle began.

They just did that to pad the episode so that they'd end the second episode at the end of the last Alessi chapter.

In the manga, there was no checking the hotel room and bathroom, and there was no cut to Iggy walking around and looking at Joseph and Avdol fighting Mariah and walking away.

I do agree that they should have sped the fight up a bit, but not make it one episode, the fight should have been over halfway through the second episode.

Which coincidentally would lead perfectly to what i will assume will be the first half of the next episode

Go play the Capcom fighting game if you want your Alessi vs Joseph fan fiction.
It contains spoilers for the rest of the season though.

Just saw some footage...it looks fun. Of course Jotaro fights with his hands in his pocket.
The fuck is with Dio and that steamroller?

Yup. Araki sure loves poop.

Nah, it was great.

Alessi exclusively picked on kids because he was a coward and could get away with it. Then a kid beat the living shit out of him. Perfect.

These two episode were definitely up there for best in the franchise since Jojo and Ceasar stuff.

Kid Jotaro was hilarious and such a perfect voice. And Polanreff too, usually not a fan of him but as kid he was really hilarious, and the way they had drawn him, lol. Please keep the comedy coming.

Yeah would have loved to see that. They really nerfed the shit out of him in this part. I never read the manga, so no idea what happens next, but I'm guessing he's not getting the spotlight on him for the rest of it either.

They should have padded it with a come back of Joseph's catchphrase and some hamon stunt, not Jotaro and Polnareff doing nothing.

Really, I don't get why they haven't bothered adding almost any fanservice for part 2 fans in the filler scenes of part 3. In the original manga, part 3 might have been what made Jojo's popularity explode, so avoiding unnecessary references to the less popular parts makes sense, but as far as the anime goes part 3 has lower sales than part 2... Yet, though all of part 3, we've only gotten a single extra use of Hamon compared to the manga.

I will never understand why Parts 1 and 2 are the unpopular parts. Part one is slow for like the first episode and that's about it. Part 2 was fucking awesome.

Maybe it's the lack of high schoolers in the first 2 parts. Even if Jotaro looks like he's at least 30, but hey.
I mean I get that Part 1 takes place during the Van Helsing days, but it's still a good story...granted Jonathan is a bit boring, but Dio makes up for that in spades. I got turned into a fan of the franchise with Part 1, it's every bit as over the top as Part 3 and more so in some parts...for now.

Part 2 is awesome & one of my favorite parts. I think Part 1 just doesn't feel as "bizarre" or crazy compared to what we see later on if you compare it to, say, Part 2. It's good, but when you see what happens in future parts, it doesn't stand out as much.

I think it's only considered "unpopular" because it gets overshadowed by its predecessors. Probably also helps all future parts are MUCH longer in comparison, so you get more characters, enemies, powers, fights, etc. & sticks with you more with all of the different moments it has.

I can agree with that. I will admit I'm definitely rewatching Part 3 when it's done because I feel like I've forgotten a good amount of it, and I'm nowhere near as well versed in Jojo as you guys are so I have no exact idea on how crazy this is eventually going to get. I guess I kind of just prefer the tighter plots of the first two arcs over the sprawling mass that is the current one. Both are enjoyable though and I've enjoyed this second half a lot actually because it using the characters better and the stands have been a lot more interesting. Still love Dio model strutting up the side of a burning building though.

Part 1 doesn't have enough time to fully flesh out its characters and it seems like Araki didn't really have any full ideas yet seeing as the training arc was rushed to the final showdown ASAP. Part 2 is actually really popular with Western fans and it's only second overall in terms of popularity compared to part 4 which is just a hive mind collective of Jojo drones.

Yeah so far Part 2 has been my favorite. I mainly just like how much of an asshole Dio is in Part 1. He's an asshole from the word go and you love him for it. The best take away from that is that you don't need some super complex villain in order for him to be a good villain. Dio just loves to chew the scenery and revel in himself. Part 2 is just good over the top fun with some fun characters. Part 3 needs more Kakyoin. He's not the most powerful, but he uses his brain, he's like the Kurama of the bunch...Part 3 has no Hiei, but it is what it is.

I just realized my favorite couple fights in Part 3 are coming up and I'm so excited. These fights almost saved Part 3 for me, almost.

I also have to hand it to the anime as they adapted the Maria and Alessi fights. Maybe it's just because having them animated inherently ups the momentum, but I felt both those fights dragged in the manga for me. Loved them both here.

Just watched the OVA version of this week's episode. If they are able to match that it is sure to be a good episode.

D'arby's idea of a relationship is ridiculous :V

I prefer the OVA's animation personally but the animation in this ep. is good enough.

"Go ahead, Mr. Joester!"
Hah good one! I'm pretty sure that way of writing his name did show up in the manga at one point.

I'm surprised though that they hadn't adapated THAT from the manga yet since it takes place shortly before the encounter @_@

Next ep. gonna be so hype you won't believe GAF ;D

D'Arby is so evil, loved this episode

GO AHEAD MISTER JOESTER

I guess that's because it connects more to the episode in two weeks, so they're going to put it at the end of next week's episode.

I personally think it would've been a nice build up if they showed it earlier, but whatevs.

Bring on da poker game!
*You now want to get ORA-ORAed by Star Platinum and be in a coma for an entire week just to watch the next ep. in the fastest way possible*

Mr. Joesteeeeerrrrrrrr

Good episode, I'm still salty about Joseph losing, but it does make D'arby more intimidating if he can beat someone as cunning as Joseph. Now we're up for some poker next week.

Wait a second, why didn't Joseph use the Ripple to keep the liquid steady? Its been a while since I watched the second part but couldn't they walk on water with the Ripple?

I figured someone would bring this up, but it's the usual case of Araki forgetting stuff or neglecting stuff just for the sake of tension.
Besides Joseph was prob. confident in himself being able to beat him without using Hamon/Ripple.

Isn't it possible that it also just could've been too obvious of a cheat? It'd require him to constantly be grabbing the glass for it to not spill. Pretty sure that the glass spilling as soon as Joseph stops touching it would be a very obvious sign of cheating.
