And this is what Dolce and Gabbana wrote that got that reaction out of Elton John.

Here’s a prediction: it’s going to be a while before you hear any celebrities saying they’re wearing Dolce & Gabbana. The gay design duo have finally gone into detail about how anti-gay they are.

“The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed,” Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana told Panorama magazine, one of the most influential news magazines in Italy.

It’s a bit perplexing. Dolce and Gabbana are gay, former lovers but they’re against gay marriage and against same sex parents raising kids.

Procreation “must be an act of love,” Dolce told Panorama, according to a translation by [LGBT Italia]. “I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Uteri [for] rent, semen chosen from a catalog.” (With this logic they’re also against straight couples going to fertility clinics too.)

“The family is not a fad,” Gabbana went on to say. “In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging.”

[...] The golden couple of Italian fashion apparently love straight couples-making babies so much that they dedicated their Winter 2016 collection to mothers. At their fashion show in Milan earlier this month, they sent moms and their “no chemical” babies down the runway with sweaters that read “I love you, mamma” and “Per la mamma più bella del mondo” (for the most beautiful mother in the world).

Italian LGBT groups are inviting international allies to use the hashtag #BoycottDolceGabbana and join their boycott against Dolce & Gabbana.

“We choose, in full economic crisis, to assert our money by helping brands and businesses that repudiate discrimination,” reads the call to action published by LGBT News Italia.

There is no such thing as "no chemical" babies. That would be a generalization. Life is a series of chemical reactions, at a very basic level.

I agree with Elton John.
 
The gay self-hate is real.

Good on Elton. If I could afford to wear Dolce & Gabbana, I'd boycott them right now too.
 
Can someone explain to me why they'd be against gay family rights if they're gay themselves?

It's only strange to me how many religious people support various fertility methods; at least those who believe in "God's plan" and all that. If you aren't fertile, aren't you going against God to use science to have children?
 
Good for Elton. Hopefully other individuals, such as Madonna who has recently had a strained relationship with them, will call them out on their bullshit too.

It's not as uncommon as you would think.
Some gay men object to the lack of female influence in a child's life, others consider the subculture of gay men to be inappropriate for child-rearing, etc.
Doesn't make it any less wrong, but it's not exactly a new thing either.

A little help is ok, I just think its odd when that help means you have 1 extra father/mother that the kid probably wont see until theyre older and they decide to call up the donor clinic. I mean, how is that not odd?

They probably fall in to the "gay people shouldn't try to ape heterosexual norms" camp. It's a prevelant mindset unfortunately.

A guy I went to class with grew up without a father, so he feels gays and lesbians shouldn't be allowed to raise a child. Hes outputting his personal loss on the entire world.


And then there is the issue that fathers are not worth anywhere near as much mothers in terms of cultural influence. "Daddy issues" is such a common cultural trope, that you would think it would receive more attention.
For fathers to really take more responsibility, not bailing, they also need to be held accountable on much more than socio economonic traps like child alimony. A fathers leave of absent after having a baby needs to be seen as just as important as it is for women. But there are lots of reasons why it's not like this. And I assume a lot of men don't want that. I think a lot do want it, or at least the option, but I am sure many are also like "mothers are more important. they take care of the kid".





I haven't met any self-hating gays, but what Terell is talking about regarding self-hating minorities, reminds me about the Ryan Gosling film, The Believer. Which is insanely awesome. Gosling plays a self-hating jew who joins a group of neo-nazis and start getting introduced to anti-semetic violence, all while the neo-nazis dont know his true origins, or the truth about his religious jewish familiy.

It's very powerful, and it paints the portrait for someone highly intelligent who is also insane self-loathing and confrontational. The character boxes through all arguments, shuts everything down, with this vile aggressive tone, and everyone just gives up on him as he descends into madness.

They don't seems to hate themselves though, they just seem to not support what others like them support, and deny what others like them do not. I am not saying that is a good thing (let me repeat myself, I am not saying this is a good thing); that being said, there is a difference between this kind of school of thought and genuine self-hate. A gay person doing thier damnedest to "cure" themselves? I could see that as self-hate. This? I think it would best be described as something else entirely. What that would be I am not too sure of mind you.

They are entitled to their opinion, but it is certainly an uncommon one among gay people. I personally haven't heard any others state that opinion.
