The bosses are only challenging if you solo them. If you summon a player or two they become almost too easy. At least in the dark souls games. I imagine this isnt too bad. If someone already beat it in 45 hours solo it must be pretty doable. Its the mini bosses and regular enemies you have to be worried about.

Toys R Us here in Vancouver sold DMC a few days early last week.

Ever since, I've been going to the same store in hopes of seeing Bloodborne on the shelves. No luck as of an hour ago.

This will be the fourth day in a row my grown ass has walked into a Toys R Us.

Fairly certain they think I'm a pedo at this point.

Makes sense given that armor is generally what factored into that and there's no bulky metal suits this time around. I'm getting the impressions that while the level design, aesthetic, and game mechanics, and atmosphere is very Souls, Bloodborne is a different beast.

Looks like i'll be jumping back in for many certain deaths, I played Demon Souls to death but never got round to finishing Dark Souls due to life getting in the way and completely missed out on DS2 but I am very very hyped for this, I am prepared to Die!
 
I have to say, as someone who couldn't even conplete world 1-1 in Demon's Souls, I'm picking up Bloodborne day one. And that's because of the extremely active community around this title. All of your hype has come down on me in a way no hype should. Like, people actually want to help others in co-op? I mean sure, I'll probably get invaded, but knowing that people want to help rather than just go "figure it out for yourself" gives me hope for humanity.

I can't wait to die with all of you on launch day.

Broke street date for DMC, and they keep the stock shelves open - showing all the games they have from shipments. I think I saw Hardline in there already and wouldn't be surprised if they'd sell it now.

Just waiting to see Bloodborne up there.

There's a girl with pink and blonde hair that's super nice. If anyone is going to sell it early, it'll be her.

When we talk about damage dealing stats, we're mainly talking about Strength and Skill (DEX). If you plan on going with Strength, you'll probably be wielding weapons that are slow and heavy but deal high damage. The Kirkhammer would be an example of this. If you want to focus on Skill, you'll be wielding fast and agile weapons that deal lower damage. Each weapon will scale based on one or more skills, and you should see a section in your inventory when selecting a weapon that shows its scaling. Basically, what this all means is that a weapon that scales with Strenght will do more damage based on your points in Strength, a weapon that scales with Skill will do more damage when you put points is Skill. EDIT: Also, to answer your question about weapon classes, you can wield anything you meet the requirements for. There should be something in the weapon description that lists the minimum stats. It's probably somewhat esoteric, and will have symbols for each skill next to a number. This number is the minimum requirement for that skill for that weapon. As you progress in the game and get better weapons, you'll pick up ones that you can't use without enough Strength or Skill or maybe even Bloodtinge. Usually weapons with high Strength requirements will also scale well with Strenght, and this applies to any other skill. As I said, since the best route for leveling is to pick a skill to focus on, you might get some cool weapons late in the game that you can't use. If you've put tons of points on Strength and pick up a sweet weapon that requires 10 more points in Skill, then it's best to save it for another run or respec.

This is all making sense, but I feel like I need to make a game lasting decision so early on without the option to try all the options first. I understand if there are a few weapon varieties that you can try in the beginning then focus on what you like best.

How many weapons are there?

How are they segregated? Axes, hammers...what else?

I understand I need to focus on one type, but what types are there to focus on?

it really depends but usually it's quite hard at the beginning when you still don't know how things work. you will get better with time and you'll get an enormous satisfaction in killing bosses, finishing levels and winning pvp matches.

I dunno, I haven't played the game yet. From what we've seen, STR weapons would be greatswords, hammers, and big axes, probably the
gattling gun too (along with Bloodtinge)
. As for Skill focused weapons, the whip cane would be one, fast and nimble swords like a rapier (don't know if this is in the game) or claws (also don't know), and I'm guessing the scythe. But you really don't need to worry about focusing on one 'type' of weapon. You don't get trained specifically in greatswords or hammers, but just in generally heavy weapons by putting points in Strength. If you go with the Kirkhammer right now, you'll could very well ditch it for a greatsword later without needing to reallocate your stats.

The best thing to do is start with some of the slower weapons that you might already be able to wield and then try some of the fast ones. If you like slower weapons then put points into strength (and health, health is always something you should be leveling at the same rate as your damage stats up to a certain point), if you like faster ones then put them into skill. Thing about Souls games is that the first run is always going to be rough statwise (unless you've done a LOT of work before you start the game figuring out what you want to play like). There are very few people who started their first Dark Souls run and didn't completely mess up their build. But that's part of the charm of the game really. It's all about discovery, whether it be figuring stuff out on your own, or visiting a forum / the wiki and learning about all the stuff you missed or have been doing wrong (hello leveling the Resistance stat in Dark Souls).

We should add that the kirk hammer also has a quick longsword with it....which presumably also scales with STR meaning its not as black and white as you think it is. If you haven;t come across weapons you like you could always just upgrade the weapons instead of levelling up SKILL or STR. This only applies early in the game.

From what I've seen, there are daggers, swords, great swords, curved swords, axes, hammers, scythes, spears, halberds, whips, fist weapons and guns.

In regards to upgrades, it appears you need some material....not just blood echo's. This makes the decisions much more concrete rather than trial and error.

I'm pretty sure the majority of people shopping at Toys R Us are grown ass people. Unless you live in a part of the world where children have taken over and adults don't exist.
