Dark Souls II SOTFS (PS4) release day brought forward?

Just had an email from Amazon uk informing me that the game will arrive on April 2nd 2015 (a thursday) has the release day changed from the 7th or is this just a mistake

(looking around at various sites it says 2nd April on the majority of them)

Xbox Peasants need something from FromSoftware, even if it's just a port :P
Sony is publishing one and Bando Namcai the other, they don't give a fuck about how the other game does.

Still, Bandai Namco have to realize that BB will greatly reduce the amount of sales this gets on PS4. I'm interested in this game having never played DSII, but there's no way in hell I'm getting it on release day. Maybe later in the year when it's like $20.

Why would they move it even closer to Bloodborne's release date? I already feel like it's too close.

Having it moved two weeks after BB release also taps into those people looking for more after finishing the game so pretty smart move. It also plays to the XB1 people who can't experience BB.

Remeber, DSII came out after PS4/XB1 and many people did not pick it up for last gen so I figure they are finally trying to tap that resource as well as those that did not have a last gen console.

This close to release and no pricepoint for PC players. I'm guessing they're keeping quiet so they can just stealth launch it at 59.99 at this point.

It may actually make sense to get free coat-tail marketing from great BB reviews and sales. The only direct competition is for PS4 owners.

Have they announced PC pricing yet?

Maybe they want to capitalise on the hype of Bloodborne's release, and hope non-PS4 owners will buy it as a way to tide them over.

Namco is behaving like kid you used to know from school who would always try to act like the tough guy who has everything in controll and remains cool no matter what happens, but in fact fails at everything he does and embarrasses himself doing so because he doesn't think this stuff through properly.

That's the best analogy I could come up with.

Does anyone know if an updated Game Guide will be published for this version of DS2?

I'm going to still be playing Bloodborne, which is why I didn't pre-order this game. Who knows I may get it on sale if I take my time(s) with Bloodborne.

I am very curious about the new enemy placements etc.

1. Will the ps4 version offer the original placements as an option?

2. Will the new placements improve the game or will they aggravate my existing gripes about DkS2's enemy placements?

Community word of mouth is going to make a big difference to me as to whether I buy this the second I finish Bloodborne or if I put it off for a bit.

Unless it's a genuine clusterfuck (which I doubt; I mostly really liked the DLC) I'm def picking it up; the question is when.

I am glad both are close together, but buying DS2 PS4 at release might not make sense for me if I'm still mired in Bloodborne. Waiting for a sale might make sense I guess.

Still, I'm going to get both, just have to wait and see how Bloodborne turns out first. I played DS2 on PC and loved it but never finished and am dying to return on the PS4.

That changes nothing about the fact that it's a bad decision

No matter what, it's not going to sell as well on PS4. Moving the date up changes nothing. Moving the date back a month might, but then XBO release gets screwed. Better to showcase to XBO buyers that they can play a Souls game around the same time as Bloodborne. PS4 sales are pretty much going to be lower anyway whether or not they move the date up.

NB really should have released this like 2 weeks before Bloodborne. I suspect itll be pretty hard To go back to ds2 after BB but we'll see

Nah. The Souls games are always fun to go back to. They have that lasting appeal, just as Bloodborne no doubt will.

I didn't finish DS2 on PS3 as I bought the PS4 on release.

Moving house etc means that I never rehooked up my PS3.

I may buy the PS4 version out of laziness.

Is there any reason why I should care about Dark Souls 2 if I'm getting Bloodborne? Never played a souls game. .

If you like BB you'll more than likely like DS2 as well. It's a shame that the real masterpiece, Dark Souls 1, isn't part of the package though. No matter how good BB is, it'll never change how amazing DS1 was/is.

I've already got Bloodborne, but I'm interested in a 60fps version of Dark Souls II (I don't have a PC that can run it). I probably won't get it at launch unless Bloodborne doesn't click with me.

I think he means mechanically. It's going to be jarring going back to the slower paced DS2 after playing Bloodborne.

I don't think it will be a problem for me based on all of the footage I have seen. The fast dodge/roll gameplay is a style that I learned to employ early and often back on Demon's Souls and I have used it often on up through Dark Souls II. I think it is going to be a pretty familiar experience across the board for me, but with each having it's own distinct flavor of course.

Are they seriously try to compete with Bloodborne that headon? Considering Chalice Dungeon and such, this is a suicide.

While BN has no reason to care about Bloodborne, why wouldn't Sony care about a third party game releasing on their platform where they get paid a huge chunk of the profit for doing absolutely nothing?

Both for me as well. Bloodborne is going to be the shit, but I am really looking forward to all of the changes, the technical upgrade, plus the DLC that I missed for Dark Souls II.

Oh man, you are in for a treat. The DLC is some of the best stuff the Souls series has done - great bosses, enemies and wonderfully designed new environments. Very inventive. So good.

Also, longer than Artorias. Great value.
