So a PSBlog post from yesterday confirmed my worst fears... the UK isn't getting the cool saw cleaver steelbook case because of "availability":
"Alas, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but availability of that particular steelbook varies from region to region and unfortunately the UK team were unable to offer it."
I'm not too fussed over it, since I'll be getting the game regardless, but it is a little disappointing that we won't be getting it over here.
I was just asking because of a serious high profile province wide outage. (power flicker)
It's the image posted that you quoted![]()
Oh, I thought like actual footage of it in action.![]()
Yea just that little vignette from the trailer or whatever.
Finished the game! It seems there is definitely multiple endings
.
Playthrough total time...51 hours.
SMALL SPOILERS ABOUT THE ENDING
Ending (spoiler free) OMG. All I have to say. There will 1000000% be a Bloodborne 2. I really don't want to spoil the ending because I am confident everyone will love how it was done. I can't wait to get some time for another playthrough after writing my review!
The Demons Souls connection is a lot more prevalent than you think, but I'm positive many playthroughs will be needed to explore all the secrets and lore, as I feel like I barely scratched the surface.
Final boss was HARD. I died more times on it than any other in the game which is how it should be.
IMPRESSIONS
No comments about multiplayer or covenants beyond what we already know as the servers still don't work. Though I can't imagine they will drop this game any lower than masterpiece standard. Some observations overall that I am allowed to share, mostly impressions I guess, and thoughts about the game design and Miyazaki's work
Game design overall then, is fantastic. Miyazaki is a beast himself. I have never seen someone with a track record so progressively better, at least in recent memory. The tightly polished experience and rush of adrenaline I first experienced with Demons Souls combat is ever so much more satisfying in Bloodborne. The world is intricately woven together in such a way that you never feel a 'lost izalith' moment or that any part was rushed. I love the final district and it's atmosphere, though I'm not sure if it's possible to get here before the end game, so may not be the 'final area' at all.
I tip my fedora to the sound designers as well. Their work here is stellar, boss themes are so memorable and I have the melody from the Dream stuck in my head, which is a welcome thing.
I need a lot more time to gather my thoughts, but there are SOME negatives, to be expected, but they are pretty minor gripes and I expect a lot of it is subject to change in future patches and the day 1 launch patch.
Negatives:
Not much variety in locations. I am sorry to say it, but this was my biggest bug bear and although the areas are all stunningly detailed and beautiful, it begs for more than just Victorian houses and foggy forests.
Difficulty is there, but it's sporadic. Especially when you consider how tight the combat feels it gets annoying to die to so many world traps and one hit kill bullshit strikes, but then I think about how that is somewhat a staple in the series, learning and progressing, so not sure it is too much of a negative. Pending on my thoughts for this one in general. Some areas are a cakewalk to a souls veteran, while others are an absolute minefield of crazy traps and sneaky enemies. There is absolutely a 'Valley of defilement' moment which involves a lot of giant worms and poison affliction. I spent more time dying here than anywhere else.
As for 'concerning' negatives, that is all I've got. So on to the nitty gritty bits. - Some weapons and buffs are ridiculously overpowered. Once I found a certain Scythe I rarely needed to use anything else.
Guns are useless later in the game. Think it just needs a bit of balance tweaks here and there to damage and stun time.
Lots of consumables that don't seem to do much of anything when used.
Occasional framerate derps and a strange bug that causes the sound to 'buzz' every once in a while, though I expect patches will fix.
Same goes for the above, some sound bugs here and there like looping enemy footsteps that remain when you have killed an enemy, sounds not firing correctly here and there. Nothing major though.
One or two 'recycled' enemies and movesets from dark souls 2 with different skins.
Some slow loading times with 'Bloodborne' text feel a bit awkward.
That is seriously all I have at this point for negatives. I will do my best to answer questions that are aimed at the mechanics of the game, rather than story spoilers because I feel this game deserves the secrecy. Everyone should experience that incredible final few hours as I did, blind and terrified!
hate to keep doing this, really do
but can we get some of those negatives in non spoilers?
sorry ladies and gents![]()
thats weird because i thought i heard otherwise from one of the other people who got it early
in terms of not much variety in locations

Well, someone who just cranked out 54 hours of game time in about 3 days, in my opinion, is probably mushed from the binge.
That's what I was afraid of. I don't want your typical cut/paste location, but Demon's, DS, and DS2 all made it a point to inject some variety.
All the footage I've seen are from a gorgeously designed location, but I could already tell that you weren't going on some epic quest.
Can we not do this? If you really must know just ask for a PM.

i mean i'm willing to do this but i suspect there are plenty of others lurking this thread who would appreciate the same - i suppose i'll stop, thanks

Most negatives sound like they could be easily fixed with a patch.
Think we'll have to wait and see. He cites Victorian Houses and Forests as variety, so perhaps he expected drastic departures then say, victorian houses in snowy areas.
Total speculation of course.
To be honest, the only negatives that are concerning are the loading times and the difficulty being sporadic (as a veteran at this point).
Everything else relies on so many differing factors that it's hard to make a conclusive statement one way or the other.

Edit: People please. Occasional framerate drops means that the framerate is probably like Demon Souls. Some occasional drops here and there but no Blighttown. That's like, great news. Come on. Someone agree with me, dammit!
I agreeAnd I'm coming off of playing DS2 at 4k/60fps on PC. Bloodborne's framerate has looked fine in streams so far. I'm a little concerned regarding location variety, but giving From/Miyazaki the benefit of the doubt.
If there's not, that'd make sense. If Lovecraft was an inspiration, it's probably in their best interests to keep the mysteries hidden instead of laying them out right at the beginning like in Souls.Does anybody know if bloodborne will have a cgi intro cinematic to set up the plot?
i mean even if worst case the locations arent that varied, which i feel like even from what ive seen they will be
he did call the game a masterpiece, so lol

We friends now! And yea, I've recently replayed DS1 and 2 at 60 FPS. Don't get me wrong, 60 FPS is fantastic. But my main concern with BB was always a Blightown-esque FPS situation from the console versions. I much preferred the Demon Souls framerate. Some weird drops when stuff was breaking apart due to the physics but otherwise a solid 30.
Hopefully this means we don't get another Valley of Defilement too!I'm not concerned about the location variety. How many types of locations could you have in this setting anyway? I wasn't expecting snow-capped mountains, beaches, or sunny meadows filled with bunnies and butterflies.

Yes. There's also other stuff that isn't avaiable yet. These playthrough times are without the chalice dungeon, right? Seems solid.
Then I bet you really enjoyed it the other two times they put it in Souls gamesI hope we do. I loved Valley of Defilement! The boss made it even better.
