High-level Smash play is incredible to watch

I wish I could play half as good as that.

Link is so frustrating to play against. If he's not range spamming you to death, by the time you get close, there's a whirlwind of Master Sword all over the place cutting you down. Almost no room to approach, fuck that.

My respects to C. Falc for lasting as long as he did.

I can never seem to beat Samus with Link.... no matter how hard I try.

Samus just rolls back and forth. Rolls away. Charges. Rolls. Rolls. Rolls.

Charges.

Rolls.

yea i hate going against toon link and link online. all they do is spam their projectiles. really frustrating and boring.

Not sure what this thread is trying to get at. Yes, I'm assuming high level Smash is awesome to watch. And the video is indeed great. Not being a competitive Smash player, I have no clue what's going on half the time. But that is also the case for many, many fighting games played at a high level.

I went to EVO 3 times in a 4-year span, and the high level Street Fighter, Marvel, and KoF are amazing. I actually prefer to watch more strategic, "slower" paced stuff like Street Fighter IV.

Yeah, it's unbelievable how good people can get. After having played some really good people, I appreciate it even more. I could be soooo many levels better and still not touch them.

I imagine a lot of competitive games are similar. I get the same impression watching Street Fighter or KoF (etc etc etc). Even watching speedruns gives me the same feel. I love seeing excellence on display. Just in some cases I might not recognize it.

I had to stop playing smash competitively. The wins felt hollow and the losses were incredibly frustrating.

I had one of those epiphany moments where I realized I wasn't playing a game because it was fun anymore.

Izaw's always been amazing.

One of the few people who understands how to zone in order to be aggressive instead of being a campy player.

Watch some competitive Meele. It's even better.

Definitely enjoying OP's video more than a Melee one. Those just feel like romhacks half the time, the crazy metagame going on there is pretty far divorced from Normal Smash. SSB4's been great for keeping things feeling more like the actual shipping game, but still being fun to watch/play.

As someone who sucks at, doesn't really have much interest in becoming "good", and yet still likes and buys fighting games pretty regularly, this stuff is really fun to watch. I can appreciate it, I just would never have it in me to dedicate myself like competitive players do. More power to 'em, I say. Last time I even considered myself decent at these games was in the Vampire Savior era. Yeah, it's been a while.

Link is really fun to play in smash 4

....one thing I wish is that these former brawl players would fucking quit choosing the same brawl stages and pick some smash 4 ones >.<

Is it? I can't stand it. Like random particles knocking against each other at high speeds. It's just not interesting.

I thought those wacky anime fighters with x1000 hit combos were annoying until I saw a Smash stream.

I hate playing Link sooo much. All everyone I ever play against online does is spam the shit out of his projectiles. And me playing Marth or Sheik, I'm not good enough to get through that shit unscathed. Infuriatingly annoying.

I'm always happy when I see some high level Link play.

Kind of off topic but I've always felt Link never played as well as he did in the N64 version of Smash.

I wish my Link was that good. More of a Toon Link guy though. Will watch fully later for tips.

Also please don't turn this into a Melee vs Smash 4 thread. Again.

A couple well timed attacks and a bunch of bouncing around the screen.

I have no idea how Smash ended up in the same regard as SF, KOF or any of the other fighting games that are played at a high level.

Smash 4 isn't combo oriented or particularly fast, lol.

"I like Melee better" works too.

Actually I was too young to "get good" at Melee when it came out, so to play I actually have a preference for 4.

But yes I do enjoy watching Melee matches more, although I would argue the faster pace makes them more enjoyable to watch overall.

I don't enjoy watching Melee :/ But you won't be seeing me posting "Smash 4 is better".

What if you're wrong? :P I play SF, KOF and SSB.

Didn't take long for the Melee guys to shit on the thread.

Don't know how good Link really is in 4, but rage f-Smash can get savage lol

"Normal" Smash is all in your head tho

Even though I've been smash 4 tons, I haven't been watching any matches. This video was awesome though. I guess my assumption that it wouldn't be very entertaining was wrong.

Guys, I love watching high level competitive Melee. I love watching high level competitive Smash 4. They're two different games, and you don't have to beat one down in order to prop up your preferred game.

Anyway, OP, if you're looking for more high level play like that, check out VGbootcamp's and Clash Tournament, they have years of back footage of tournaments, and they're the two biggest Smash streamers today. If you're specifically looking for Smash 4, VGBootcamp streams a weekly tournament near Baltimore on Tuesdays on their Twitch stream, and Melee on Wed. Specifically, look for Boss and his Luigi, its ridiculous at some of the stuff he can do with a character that many people were writing off until he started winning tournaments with him (very few people thought Luigi was good during the period between the 3DS release and the Wii U release). I would also look for footage of players like Zero, NAKAT, Nairo, and False, just to name a few.
