BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

I'm poor as living hells but I deserve a treat for all the shit I've been through these past days. Gonna sink my teeth into this while I keep track of my favorite thread on GAF (this one!). Besides, I need more than just GAF to pass time until VAMPIRE-time!

That picture has no AF. Awful.

Enjoy the game, it's a great ride.

3gb day one patch confirmed? I will ethernet-hook this sucker so fiercly, it'll almost feel like a sexual act.

If I buy digitally in the European store, I have to pay a bit more, and there is no pre-load if Im right. But the game launches on the night from tuesday to wednesday at 00:00 at night.

Do not know which country you are from but on the UK store it releases on 27th , the game costs £49 , got mine preordered on US Psn paid about £34. On my end i did not even have to decide.

I mean, I don't think Waste of Skin as a starter class is much harder because of the lesser stats (it's only a few points) but rather the fact that they start of completely naked (?).

At least this was the case with Dark Souls 2, where the Deprived was only harder to play than the other classes because of having zero starting equipment. As soon as you played through the tutorial, you'd find a mace or a broadsword and a shield and at that point it's basically like playing any other class.

I received my review copy

Bye bye neogaf, time to play this neutral game towards which I have no fallible human feelings and fill out my review on a scantron sheet according to a game review algorithm developed by AI programs were written to be completely immune to bias and are on servers on the moon, far from any contact with unethical humans seeking to corrupt video games journalism.

I hope it will be a review you can trust!

Did you not receive anything with your copy telling you not to even mention getting a review copy? Cause I've heard secretly from a few that that can't even mention it at this point. Which is absurd if you ask me.

Yeah, I'm sure there's not much difference, but I'm not going to tell someone looking for "easy mode" to roll waste of skin unless I don't like them.

Perhaps they start of with an mp-regen ring and a cheap-costing spell that demolishes everything in your way?!

:D

Just realized that Bloodborne releases on the 25th in Germany WTF WTF WTF

Well, I will just go to every store on thr 24th and get it.... WHAT?! UK got motherfucking wrecked (27th) God guys, I support you ;__;

I have no idea why it took me so long but i just realized how the warping system works. Initially I had thought it worked just like DS2 where you could warp anywhere from any lantern. This disappointed me because I felt that this lessened my intimacy with the world. Once I had beaten a level, I never really returned to it because I could just warp past it.

I just realized that you can only warp from the hub in Bloodborne, so warping will require first going to the Hinter's Dream and then going to your destination. I think this is actually a really good compromise as it will allow warping if the player wants to go somewhere very far away but also incentivizes just walking to your destination instead. I know it's been said again and again that the design on this game is basically Dark Souls with the Demon's Souls Nexus, but I just figured out what that actually means in practice.

Honestly, I think that's exactly the same thing, it just adds unnecessary loading times to the process.

If you want to warp from lantern to lantern, you will, nothing stops you.

I really don't see how that was really good at all, it's cumbersome. Either don't let me warp to every lantern or just let me do it from the lantern itself, having to go back to the hub just makes it so you have to wait longer to warp.

The lantern placement seems far better than the bonfire placement from Dark Souls II though.

Maybe you can't warp TO every lantern either? That would be the only way it makes sense for me and considering warping was limited in Dark Souls 1 originally as well I wouldn't be too surprised.

I'm thirty years old and I updated my avatar because of bodily excitement that I feel.

For bloodborne.

Yeah. Let's not get meta on this and just enjoy the fact that I can still feel like when Zelda OoT was coming out.

I'm trying to figure out what kind of build I want to make.

Might just do the standard 40/40 STR/SKL quality build so I can equip pretty much any weapon.

I'm not sure if I should completely neglect bloodtinge and arcane though.

i need some impressions on the framerate before pre ordering. is it solid 30 or more like dark souls?

Very slight hiccups at an uncommon-rare occurrence, but nothing like Dark Souls. Sounds like it's mostly when killing a ton of enemies at once.

Edit: And yes, release patch should improve it further.

I think its just for those who received review copies.

So I'm going to download the game from the same servers that are hosting the patch and can authenticate that I own a legal copy of the game but it's going to wait until 12am EST on Tuesday to download a 3gb patch? That's lame.

Warping will definitely still happen, and if a player wants to warp to every lantern then there is nothing stopping them. For me, I think this is a good system because I'm DS2 I would warp to every bonfire, even in the same level. It activity disincentivized traveling anywhere by foot because you could always warp. Even if the next bonfire was a 30 second run away I would still warp. With Bloodborne's system, I doubt I'll warp to lanterns that are near each other. To use the DS map as an example, if I wanted to get to Demon Ruin's from Blighttown, I'd much rather walk than warp to Firelink and then to Demon Ruins. If I wanted to go from Blighttown to Anor Londo, however, then the stop in Firelink is worth it.

It seems to me that with this system I'll simply warp to my initial starting point in the world, and then will travel by foot to anywhere I want to go once I'm there.

That's what I was thinking but arcane is tied to fire and those fire bombs looked pretty necessary in tight spots.

Honestly the only thing that bothers me about the warp thing is having to go back to the refugee every time I need to level up.

It's just a waste of time and it doesnt add anything in an interconnected map IMO, especially if the loadings are that long. I'll rather be able to level up in every lantern, ala DS1.
