This is getting better.

I know it was sort of confirmed before, but, every new point is good.

Surprised it didn't include Ascension, which was awesome by the way. Best looking game to me last gen.

Will purchase this for sure.

isn't that the problem with remasters of PS3 exclusives? if you try and do a collection your trying to fit 2-3 blu-ray discs into one box.

40 dollars is a bit too much for me for this game remastered, it should have been 30 at the most. Will eventually pick it up though cause GoW 3 is awesome

Sleepy Dogs remaster was full price. So was Tomb Raider. There's been plenty of single remastered games that are $40 or more.

Halo MCC offered exceptional value but that is not the norm.

In fairness, TR was early on and a remake of a year old game and SD got a lot of criticism iirc for being a single remaster at full price (Fake edit: thread of announcement and price with complaining http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=869360&highlight=sleeping+dogs)

On the PS3, $40 gave you 5 games in one collection, from the same series!

C'mon dude, this is greedy shit. This is the same company, the same price point, but 4 fewer games.

Oh wow, a stopgap for the summer. I stated my interest for a remaster of at least GoW3 + Ascension because they're still extremely beautiful today, but this sounds a lot like a cheap port. "meticulous work", yeah, sure, I need to see it first.
Good for those who did not play it of course.. but I'm not among them. Do we know who's making it, Santa Monica or another smaller studio? Please be the latter..

Yeah God of War collection on PS3 was a good deal if you liked the franchise. How much was it at release ? $40 ? If so then yeah....

I guess most of the work was already done on the HD ports but still.

Ugh, ok maybe the reason for the remaster for GOW 3 in particular is probably to add an extra scene or something to tease the future installment like a secret movie or something.

The boss fights were great in 3. That's why it's my favorite.

3 definitely had some amazing boss fights. The whole opening sequence with Poseidon is unmatched but i felt like the game had some serious pacing issues IMO. It's just kratos running up and down and up and down throughout the game. It felt like a huge linear hub where i was just retracing my steps over and over.

It's a trilogy. It's not the latest game. And it's 5 years old.

again, gow3 is a single ps3 game, just as tomb raider was, or dmc, or sleeping dogs. all of which sold at 40 bucks.

latest entry? what is that supposed to mean? only latest entries should get to be remastered?

5 years old? so what?

from your logic, standalone ps3 games can sell at 40 bucks remastered, but sequel ps3 games shouldn't. ridiculous and flawed.

the latest in the entry does not mean anything besides that. being the latest in the entry. it is not any more qualified to be a remaster than any of the other entries.

whining and using a game's age. pathetic.

With that price, I think Sony knows a lot of PS4 owners didn't own a PS3 and will be interested even at $40.

Sad. At $20 this would be an impulse buy, at $40 I can wait for a price drop, Batman and Witcher will hold my attention this summer.

Ill pick it up. I really do enjoy the series. Would be nice if they just ported the entire saga to the PS4. This is one of the games(the collection) that is keeping my PS3 hooked up.

Why this gen is all about Remaster of last gen games?

Because new gen games take a heck of a lot more time to develop, and remasters can help pad the existing library, while at the same time bring in money without the ultra high development costs.

I was starting to get annoyed with them, but I've since changed my tune. I hope that something like DMC DE does great so Capcom can use that money to fund something new.

I never played the original so I'll probably pick this up. I always thought the God of War games looked really fun. The timing is perfect because there probably won't be much else releasing in July.

God of war Saga was 50$ and it included 5 games. Don't understand why this is 40$.

because they don't price it as the number of games but rather the amount of work that they do.

god of war saga games were already released on ps3 prior to the god of war saga.

read: those games in that compilation already were released as remasters/ports in previous years on the same platform.

On top of that, it's not exactly a new gen thing. Sony had remasters of Kilzone, God of War 1 and 2, two PSP GoW games, Jak, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus last generation.

Pathetic. They are just doing it for money. There is no logical sense to remaster a third game in a series "For the Xbox Players". Cash grab.

I don't have a problem with companies doing things for profit. I do, however, think that the strategy of re-releasing old content is short-sighted for a variety of reasons:
-given finite publishing resources and finite playing time of the audience, this reduces the opportunity for innovation
-success in remasters reduces the appetite of publishers/developers/investors to innovate (it looks comparatively riskier)
-you lose the segment of the market that's interested in innovative play (yeah, I'm assuming that this market exists and is sizeable)
