Marvel's AKA Jessica Jones | Production Thread

Managed to snap some pics on my walk back from the train. The first 2 pics feature a currently empty bar that used to be called Lulu's (presumably used as some abandoned/rough interior) and the third pic (far right, with the lights) is a pretty nice cocktail bar called Ramona's that is basically right next door to the first establishment.
Thanks for your pictures. It's very interesting.
I were just about to wonder why we haven't gotten more from the filming.

I wonder if The Purple Man will be actually purple or if he'll have purple eyes or just some sort of distinctive clothing style.

If they do a Moon Knight series, it should totally be run by Bryan Fuller.

But...

if Purple Man and Jessica is a Hannibal/Will dynamic, I'd love them to get those Hannibal cinematographers. Though the one doing AKA will be the POI cinematographer who is fantastic and will nail the noir tones.

I'm guessing he'll have a purple hue to his skin but that it will be subtle enough that he could pass for a "normal" human.
I don't know anything about the character, but it would be cool if he turns purple (or some aspect of him, like the color of his eyes, his lips as he speaks, etc.) only when he uses his powers.

Yeah, getting people from Spartacus and POI was a legit coup by Netflix. That alone is going to make Street Marvel look a hundred times better than AoS and AC, which are rather crummy in the visual department (AoS got a lot better later on, but still has that nasty and now very pasé "made for TV" look).

As a side note, I told my girlfriend about Jessica Jones and now she keeps pestering me about when it's going to air, new pictures, rumours and all sorts of random JJ stuff. It's like I have the production OT embedded inside my right ear channel. Girl is excited.

Cool!

AOS has made some good strides, but I'm hoping they keep trying to do better in the visuals/cinematography department. There have been some good shots and stuff this season, but most of the stuff is still a bit bland (but the fight choreography has substantially improved).

Just looking at the trailer for Daredevil, and AOS, the difference is just night and day, and not cause Daredevil looks darker. DD seems to have nailed a mood and style. AOS is a great show now, but it lacks a defining visual style. It doesn't have to be dark and moody like Daredevil, but it shouldn't be blandly lit and shot. I wish the colours popped more or something.

Actually, SHIELD should have a look resembling CW's Nikita, but with a bit more pop since we're dealing with superheroics and aliens and shit.

I wish I had better shots from Nikita to show.

They got a dude from Fargo for Daredevil's cinematography, they got a dude from Person of Interest for AKA. Great choices.

Too bad Glen Keenan is working on Sleepy Hollow now, cause I think he'd be a perfect fit for SHIELD.

The report I read specified that it only extends to properties that are equivalent to PG-13 and below.

Alias is probably gonna be R.

But then again, it wouldn't be the worst thing for Jess to maybe not smoke so much. It's more or less just a visual signifier that she doesn't give much of a fuck. You can do that in other ways.

It's a show so probably tv-ma and yeah that article specifically says movies plus it wouldn't make that big of difference anyway

And even if she could not smoke, Constantine tv series proved you can show LOTS of smoke fitting the no-smoke =P

David Tennant Talks Joining Marvel and AKA Jessica Jones at Wizard World

Of course like any fan would be, Tennant is over the moon about working for Marvel: “this is something I grew up with. It’s like my eight year old self doesn’t know what to do with himself,” he described. Growing up Tennant stated that he read comics like The Hulk. He went on to say, “I think comic books are a glorious wonderful art form and I think Marvel is one of the things that we’ll be looking back on in a hundred years’ time,” he proclaimed, even arguing that, “they’ll be one of the cornerstones of our cultural existence.”

on the AoS cinematography the budgets are probably much lower, and there is like 10 more episodes per season so it is not really a fair comparison IMO.
