Bloodborne Press Preview Impressions (16/03/2015)

Here I am thinking of trading some stuff in to get this game on Tuesday. Even with my prior history with finding the Soul games to hard or to frustrating. I watched some videos for this for a while last night and man does it look pretty and I liked the idea of the faster paced combat...

Am I crazy?

I'll take a few Nendos of your hand. $5 each. Deal?

God. Damn. It.

So the only way to play early is to buy it via US PSN? Ugh, I want to play it faster but I already double-dipped on physical copies (due to 2 separate Steelbook versions).

That or have a retailer break street date which seems to never happen in Australia :P
I preordered via US PSN today, think it unlocks Tuesday 4pm that way.

I've dodged a lot of the build up to this game. What's Chalice Dungeon all about?
It's a section underneath Yhardam with new bosses/enemies/weapons/armors that can't be committed to memory because the layouts changes after each playthrough. It has been described as Blood Borne's replay equivalent of NG+, very challenging, and likely won't be even attempted by new Souls players until after completing the SP a few times.

It's a game mode. A multilayered underground dungeon that offers procedurally generated area's.

Meaning: infinite timesink.

Holy shit. How many people can play at once? This sounds incredible.

It sounds badass. I only ever finished Demons Souls. Sounds like I might have to brush up on my skills

Does the preload start automatically or do you have to initiate it? Preordered from US PSN but usually log in using my UK account (in case that affects things)

Curious about this too. When it starts will it show up on the list of recent games or does it download in the background?

The Problem with bloodbourne from what I can tell:

Framerate seems good
Graphics look stunning
It has coop
And VS
It hasn't been downgraded
It's not short
It doesn't have pre order bullshit

What are we supposed to complain about??

That's it's almost too good.

Edit: Shit, lol.

What are we supposed to complain about??
- Load times (if you die a lot)
- Boring loading screens

Probably the most legit complaints so far.

You can encounter 35+ seconds load times.

Tho some people speculate that its the game trying to connect to the servers even though they are offline. So we will see when the servers are up if there even is anything to complain about.

Can the entire game be played coop? Debating picking up a copy to join my brother while he plays. Not very interested at going it solo but if I could progress in coop might give it a try.

Probably not the entire game no, but all bosses and most areas, you should be able to.

Go to tour library, select Bloodborne, click the timer and then check the "Auto-Download" box. Put the PS4 on Rest Mode and now it should download the game autonatically.

Has the claim of the game having shorter load time while playing exclusively offline been corroborated by more than one individual?

Don't do it. These games are intended to be played in single player and co-op is only to help with difficult bosses or enemies. I'm not sayings this in some elitist Souls fan type of way, I mean that the systems are designed so that it's difficult to play the entire game in co-op. You and your brother will have to rejoin each other's game every time one of you dies or you beat a boss. The summoned player will also not make any progress in their own game or get any loot besides Blood Echoes (XP). If you're only getting the game to play in co-op then save yourself the $60.

I don't think the servers are online yet, are they? If so, no one has played online to compare.

3 days until the stupid thing arrives and I managed to watch freaking nothing except for the official trailers. Feels good, the positive feedback I heard so far about game and NE helps.

I bet YT is already exploding with Letsplays and I'll be feeling like an idiot knowing nothing at all when going in, but I don't even care.

Edit: Yeah I think lots of people have the wrong idea about Souls coop lol.

It seems like whenever someone is about to die in this game, they use a consumable and heal. Are consumables really common in the game?

@fiddlecub: (Kevin VanOrd the reviewer for Gamespot):
I should take a break. My window is open and I am loudly cursing. On the other hand, that's what my neighborhood sounds like anyway.

Also: " Sometimes, you have to appreciate a game that really goes there. Like, you know. THERE."

it's clear in context of his twitter feed he is talking about bloodborne
