I watched like the first 20 minutes and thought it was awful, turned it off. I never do that. But with all the praise people are giving it, and that Gif, I am going to give it another shot tonight.

Also, I am completely new to the Souls Series. Tomorrow, Bloodborne will be my first foray into this world. I am prepared to die, I am prepared to learn, I am prepared to be patient, and prepared to die 100 more times before I figure out what the hell is going on.

I have followed the Souls series from the outside looking in, but never played them. However, from the minute Bloodborne was leaked, then revealed, I just had to be a part of this world, I just had to explore it. The art direction and character designs just look amazing, and unlike anything I have seen. I am very excited to check this out. And I am very excited to die while doing it.

Do you like Castlevania? Demon's, Dark 1, and Bloodborne kinda carry the legacy after Konami fell off.

sweet, just spoiled the final boss for myself by clicking through to the scythe page

Sorry...but thanks for the heads up I guess? Sucks to have been spoiled so soon <_>

Amazon hasn't shipped CE yet, and reading this thread is making me want to double up and just download the game. Plus side, won't need to fiddle with disc either. Still debating if worth though, ugh.

What blows my mind is that it somehow is supposed to smoothly transition from hammer to sword and back. HOW?

Yeah I can't quite grasp it either but man oh man is that the GIF that keeps on giving. Must have converted a lot of on the fence people to bloodborne.

What would you suggest as a good STR stat for a SKL-focused character?

Military Veteran starts with 14 STR and I'm wondering if that's worth it for someone uninterested in the heavier or quality weapons, or if I should go Professional instead with its 9 STR.

I think since most classes builds are so close it depends on if you'll be using a bloodtine or arcane character str character.

Aw man get this preloaded on the ps4 just waiting for it to unlock. I've been on 100% media blackout besides the official trailer, so I'm ready to have my mind blown

not really a big concern for me. I have prime so no shipping anyway. I'll play it when it gets here.

well they might give you like a gift card or something though!

More just mad because I pre-ordered this shit back in Feb. w/ it "guaranteed" to be delivered on the release day and I might not get it until the 25. :sigh:

20 minutes and then turn it off? you are in for a treat then :D

I won't be there for the madness of the review thread or the launch but I'll be playing a couple of hours after it.

see ya later

I didn't think I'd be posting again so soon but the patch is slow to DL lol.

The artbook is alright, kind of plain but decent quality. The steelbook is also very nice
Thanks, only reason I was a bit hesitant to go digital, and once I realized soundtrack was digital I figured I'd roll the dice. Seems like I'm not missing much especially of a Design Works is coming some time down the line.

From what I've heard, it's not particularly noob friendly, but you will get better at it as you play. Your skill and experience will matter more than any weapon or stat, and after some time playing you'll find that the first few hours that seemed so difficult are now easy.

Not noob friendly, but no Souls game is. I haven't played it, but myself guess is that's its a similar difficulty of other Souls games. If you're asking if it's required to have beaten the previous entries in order to even have a chance at this game, then the answer is no. It will kick your ass for sure, but that's all part of the fun.

i'm loving everything i'm reading but xp and currency being tied to souls and losing them upon death. that'll piss me off for sure. but i'll jump in anyway. i would've continued playing dark souls but it was the pc version and was running like crap so i just gave up.

I watched a bit of a stream last night by a total souls noobie -- it took him over 2 hours just to get TO the first boss. He was getting utterly fileted. That said, he had a good attitude so he had a good time.

lol. i'm ready to have my ass handed to me.

I will start Bloodborne like I start any souls game, Deprived. I love the challenge of starting with nothing. Anyone else starting with the deprived? (If it's called that in Bloodborne)?

Which one for a Skill/Dex build? Looks like a choice between Professional and Noble Scion. I'm kind of leaning towards Professional for the extra Endurance.

Your tag is the most relevant it's ever been, right now.

I can finally use my tag to its full effect. I've been denying myself most news/hype from SoulsGAF, but caved in today which is fine since the game arrives tomorrow for me so whenever I return from work they'll have to tear me away from my controller.

Glad I didn't watch any of the streams, want to go in fresh, even if it means dying more than somebody who watched the stream and knows what to expect.

From what I read Lone Survivor is the best option, it has the least amount of points in the 'throwaway' stats.

My pattern so far (Kirkhammer-route)

Violent Past + Hunter axe

Dex (1p) -> Str (1p) = equip Kirkhammer
End (4p) -> Vit (3p) = balance out health with survivability (both at 15)
Str (9p) = reach soft cap (25)
End (5p) -> Vit (5p) = balance out health with survivability (both at 20)
End (10p) -> Vit (10p) = reach soft cap for both health and survivability
edit:
Cool, that's my build then.
The above has the details up to a certain s.lvl-point. It manages to clear the soft caps of all essential stats while transitioning to them very smoothly.

Sorry if this has been answered already but whats up with the 5 gig download for pre-load? Will the game continue downloading once unlocked or did I screw something up?

That is what I am leaning towards. I think. Damnit. I can't decide. I want to be nimble and quick but want to have some good damage from my weapons. I can't decide and time is running out....

Man, Sony needs to fix this DL speed issue. Patch download 1ed GB in like 3 minutes and now it's saying 5 hours for the remaining 1.69 GB.

25 mbps here, cmon son

Amazon boned me out my Collector's Edition. :[

Preordered a month ago but they are apparently "not able to fulfill the preorders" and one guy I spoke with didn't even understand what a preorder was. What a joke. Settling for a regular edition if I can find one tomorrow, though I may just go digital.

It seems the soft cap for strength is 25, hard cap is 50 (same for skill). I honestly don't know how soon you can find skill-based weapons and what the minimum strength requirements for them would be. I'm starting with Professional and the threaded cane. 15 Skill would help boost the attack of the cane (since it has C scaling). It might carry me for a good while until I find something I like better.

You can start with Milk Toast for 12 STR and 11 SKILL, then just put the first few points into SKILL. I was debating between Lone Survivor and Professional, actually.

Level 10

Lone Survivor starts with 14 VIT/11 END/11 STR/10 SKILL
Professional starts with 9 VIT/12 END/9 STR/15 SKILL.

At level 15, you could potentially have
Lone Survivor 14 VIT/11 END/11 STR/15 SKILL
Professional 14 VIT/12 END/9 STR/15 SKILL (or put 3 points into VIT and two points into STR instead of 5 into VIT).

After level 15, I think I might get my STR up to 12 or 14 and keep it there for a while. If I find an awesome weapon that needs more STR, then I'll put more points into it. But I'll focus on SKILL, END, and VIT first, in that order. And I don't know if I want to choose Bloodtinge or Arcane paths. In the above section I didn't list these two stats since I was leaving them alone. But we'll see. Something I might want to use might need one of those stats.

The Lone Survivor origin gives you a lot of health for survivability. In the end, I decided to go with the Professional. I figure with the HP regain mechanic (quickly attack an enemy to regain the health he took away with his attack), I could get by with lower health by being more offensive as a Professional.

As a total souls noob, who wants to run waste of skin (sounds fun) and a cane/whip weapon. What on earth do I do lol?

Damn. I want to stay up till it unlocks but I probably will end up falling asleep. Thankfully, I have no classes tomorrow so it's best if I start tomorrow morning instead at midnight.

I thought I could finish Type-0 before BB arrived. That's not happening. BB will take me over now.

I'm so sorry Sice. I'll return for you soon...
