Cancelled my CE order from Amazon since the guide won't ship at the same time, also because I was saving no money with it since I am charged tax on there. Going to hit up gamestop tomorrow and see if they have any extra CEs, if not i'll buy it where i can get a discount. Really hope the guide doesn't take long to ship.

I'm not gonna be a happy camper if it takes me 5 hours to patch this game. The window I have to play is already so slim.

I could play it now but I never boot a game up without the day 1 patch.

Always want the best possible experience from the get go

Any word on the size of the Day 1 patch?

It's 2.69 GB

I thought the Day 1 patch was already out.... is there another Day 1 patch?

This is the same one that hit a week or so ago.

I didn't realize this either until I watched a stream of the cane in action.

I'm #TeamCane all the way now.

So when do we get together with another cane user and become three pimps named slickback?

That is what I am leaning towards. I think. Damnit. I can't decide. I want to be nimble and quick but want to have some good damage from my weapons. I can't decide and time is running out....

Same here.. Trying to
Figure out best for a dex style build

this is what I'm going with. Seems like a solid option

As a total souls noob, who wants to run waste of skin (sounds fun) and a cane/whip weapon. What on earth do I do lol?
It's not that bad of an idea. Try to smoothen up the transition by dividing Vit and End as fair possible. While doing this, make sure to not forget about SKL as a stat - it is your main parameter bonus.

Amazon boned me out my Collector's Edition. :[

Preordered a month ago but they are apparently "not able to fulfill the preorders" and one guy I spoke with didn't even understand what a preorder was. What a joke. Settling for a regular edition if I can find one tomorrow, though I may just go digital.

Same here, ordered it in September and it hasn't shipped yet and says it will arrive on 3/26...pretty pissed, and support is no help.

I can't crunch shit (besides stat requirements) when it comes to firearms... anyone here have the knowledge which weapon to start of with if I'm primarily going to use for stunning the enemy?

What're the benefits of choosing the Hunter Pistol over Hunter Blunderbuss, for example?

Sorry if it's somewhere in 30 pages of the thread but am I reading it right that your origin determines starting blood echoes but blood echoes are currency like souls so is that just like starting currency to spend on some stat points?

I watched like the first 20 minutes and thought it was awful, turned it off. I never do that. But with all the praise people are giving it, and that Gif, I am going to give it another shot tonight.

Just know that the clichés and stereotyping have a purpose, and you'll be good to go :)

I thought I could finish Type-0 before BB arrived. That's not happening. BB will take me over now.

I'm so sorry Sice. I'll return for you soon...

Hahaha I didn't even bother trying to rush my playthrough because I knew I'd be in the same boat. I let you down Seven!! T_T

Gangsta versus Redkneck honestly I have no clue.

Pistol deals more damage at longer ranges. They should both have equal parrying power.

I'd like to know this, too!

So I took the plunge and pre-ordered. Any advice for someone who is a complete souls noob besides the obvious get ready to die? Mainly looking for spec advice.

Guys, please, pretty please - if you're gonna send me a PSN invite, just say "GAF" or something in the log. Don't want anyone else besides GAF adding me :).

What would you suggest as a good STR stat for a SKL-focused character?

Military Veteran starts with 14 STR and I'm wondering if that's worth it for someone uninterested in the heavier or quality weapons, or if I should go Professional instead with its 9 STR.

Browsing the wiki, I don't see any high skill-scaling weapons that require more than 10 strength. Though, it's worth noting that many of those weapons also scale with strength to some extent.

It seems the soft cap for strength is 25, hard cap is 50 (same for skill). I honestly don't know how soon you can find skill-based weapons and what the minimum strength requirements for them would be. I'm starting with Professional and the threaded cane. 15 Skill would help boost the attack of the cane (since it has C scaling). It might carry me for a good while until I find something I like better.

You can start with Milk Toast for 12 STR and 11 SKILL, then just put the first few points into SKILL. I was debating between Lone Survivor and Professional, actually.

Level 10

Lone Survivor starts with 14 VIT/11 END/11 STR/10 SKILL
Professional starts with 9 VIT/12 END/9 STR/15 SKILL.

At level 15, you could potentially have
Lone Survivor 14 VIT/11 END/11 STR/15 SKILL
Professional 14 VIT/12 END/9 STR/15 SKILL (or put 3 points into VIT and two points into STR instead of 5 into VIT).

After level 15, I think I might get my STR up to 12 or 14 and keep it there for a while. If I find an awesome weapon that needs more STR, then I'll put more points into it. But I'll focus on SKILL, END, and VIT first, in that order. And I don't know if I want to choose Bloodtinge or Arcane paths. We'll see.

The Lone Survivor origin gives you a lot of health for survivability. In the end, I decided to go with the Professional. I figure with the HP regain mechanic (quickly attack an enemy to regain the health he took away with his attack), I could get by with lower health by being more offensive as a Professional.

Yeah, sounds good, and I think I'm going to go Professional as well. The extra Vitality from Lone Survivor doesn't compel me much. Unless I'm making a PvP build I ignore Vitality in Souls games. I like being a nimble glass cannon, with lots of offensive firepower and good mobility, but liable to be one-shot at any moment.

Of course, if this really follows in the spirit of the Souls games, your starting class and stats are ultimately only so important.
