All signs are telling me not to get this game, but GAF hype is too strong.

Get it and conquer the game. It feels damn amazing figuring out a pattern and beating a boss that was kicking your ass an hour ago. You can always get GAF to help you out too...but I wouldn't miss out the game cause it's too hard. Just be prepared to die A LOT.

Most of the GAF community love the Souls series. If it's nothing that interests you, I'd probably think twice about purchasing it. That said, I'm really glad I got into this franchise.

The good thing is that the game will have a high re-sell value on eBay. I am definitely passing on this game. The lack of checkpoints will do me in. Glad that was confirmed for me. Damn. Was really looking forward to giving the series a try, but I know better.

I was honestly a little scared clicking on this thread :P I'm glad reviewers are enjoying it, can't wait to play it tomorrow.

Just to set some things straight...

- From a Dark Souls player, this game is pretty easy. Harder than the average game, but much easier than Dark Souls, especially Dark Souls 2.

- The load times suck, but a patch is coming to fix that.

- The Regain system isn't all that it was cracked up to be. Dark Souls players won't even notice it's there most of the time.

- Boss are super easy, especially compared to Dark Souls.

Any questions I'll be happy to answer.

If Bloodborne gets less than a 90-metacritic, I'll be f*cking pissed. You just know that something isn't right when an attention-seeking troll decides to give this PlayStation 4 exclusive a criminally undeserving "7.5."

Or, it could be that they didn't actually enjoy the game that much and think it's a fair score?

I'm terrible at the Souls games, I never get super far in them... and yet I'm super interested in checking this game out. These reviews are helping, as are the streams popping up now. But still I know the first boss or the second boss will wreck me.

Is the performance good? Consistent framerate?

Shit we'll see how easy it is. I breezed through the last half of Dark Souls but I think that was all because of the Gravelord Sword. I wanna die!!!!

C'mon, you're a Hotline fan....maybe not as punishing but you're used to it.

I'll never understand why we regressed to consumable health potions. I thought Dark Souls (1 not 2)'s Estus Flask system was perfect. No grinding, and it maintained difficulty to a point. You could even upgrade them for another avenue of progression.

Either way, cannot wait to pick up my steelbook edition tomorrow! I've been waiting for this since Dark Souls 1.

This is good to hear! and also hope they would change the loading logo screen to some art/tips/lore etc.

I think I was wrong on the scores :D Thought 86ish meta.

Man I hope they patch the load times, that would be really appreciated. Would be also cool if they could add weapons via free patches and DLC over time, although I would never expect that.

Are there any specific boss fights that stand above the rest in difficulty in your opinion? (i.e. ornstein and smough). Bit of a shame if they end up too easy, I felt like I one-and-done'd a ton of fights in Dark Souls 2 aside from Ruin Sentinels and the flame guy.

Strange. Souls community players like VaatiVidya have been saying that this game is harder than the Souls series at least from what they had played so far...

Dark Souls 1/2 may have been hard but I played on easy mode with pyro build in 1 and faith build in 2. There probably isn't easy mode in this one. So I should be decently challenged.

Easier is kinda lame to hear, but not completely surprising, hopefully NG+ playthroughs get much harder, chalice dungeons, and opportunities for challenge runs. Although I have put thousands of hours into Souls games, so it was gonna be easier for me regardless.

Probably depends on how you play Souls. If you're more aggressive, Bloodborne comes naturally and you get better tools for an aggressive playstyle. If you like blocking and counterattacking, you're going to have a bit of a challenge adapting.

In NG+ Estus becomes broken as fuck. 20 flasks +7? At that point you can tank and fuck up on most bosses in Dark Souls 1 without dying. Dark Souls 2 has broken healing due to life gems.

Healing in both of those games becomes broken once you stockpile souls or humanity.

The checkpoint system in Souls games suck, yes, but it's also part of the fun. You'll quickly learn that you don't have to fight every single enemy you see and you'll end up running through mobs just to quickly get back to a boss. The game has checkpoints, just not right outside of boss rooms most of the time.
