this game is so DENSE.

It's like every few steps you take is something to look at it, check, explore, manage, defend against, attack, map out.

To be honest it's quite overwhelming.

Also this game is scary. Not in a horror kind of way, but in a way where you feel truly underpowered.

Currently attempting to kill the Raven Hunter NPC for her gear at starting level with no upgrades at all. Five deaths so far and she just killed me with a drop attack! :O

Sixth death. She's so damn fast and she has multiple ranged attacks that at this level take a decent chunk off my health. :(

Only things disappointing me are the framerate and load times. Otherwise it's a fantastic game.

Gotta go to work though.

In the back of my mine I'll know there's a dog out there carrying all of my blood echoes though.

I've never played a From Software game on a console before, so the framerate is taking awhile to get used to.

been streaming since midnight. just hopped onto neogaf real quick. stream's still up, btw. http://www.twitch.tv/tapezilla

recap is I got my ass handed to me a few times, but I finally got progress and a nice shortcut unlocked.

framerate ain't perfect, other than that the game is solid so far. controls take some getting used to. healed myself unintentionally about 8 times before I started to get the hang of the button layout.

Wow this game is awesome! Starting to get the hang of this, but still need a lot of practice. Love the maze like first area. Really feels alive. Love all the "human" dialog from the enemies. The sense of horror is just something else. I hear sounds and just wonder if a terrifying enemy is around the corner!

My last death:
I just fell into some kind of sewers. Big rats everywhere. Ran like a chicken into a corner with more rats. I am now dinner.

What was everyone's last death?

What the hell is up with the lack of save points?? x_x

I got so far and just lost like 40 minutes of gameplay because I died and had to go ALL THE WAY BACK.

I'm afraid this is going to get too tedious to keep my attention for very long...

Damn entralled. Ended up with 5k souls and was nervous as fuck fighting those 2 werewolves but took em down. Finally found the shortcut and went and bought the full Yharnan Hunters Garb set. BADASS!!!

Now to try the boss before bed. Can I he through the opening without dying?????

Fattie stopped pounding on the door, spooked me from behind and a dog ate my face.

I've played about an hour of DS1. So yeah, pretty much.

Completely normal then. I still remember those many...many hours :) I'm no souls expert mind you even after finishing the game's multiple times. Hell I was one of those shield casuals so no shield will be an adjustment >_>

Huh... there are no save points. I mean, the game auto saves constantly. Enemies will respawn if you die. And you respawn at the lantern.
You lost your blood echoes, not gameplay. This is not skyrim.

You progress by finding new Lantern points and unlocking shortcuts. There are no safe points.

the way saving works in these games is the game basically auto saves after each kill you make. Or at least every other one.

it constantly saves

The problem is the lanterns are way too far spread out. I got to the werewolves and died, and now I'm all the way back. That's a lot of time lost.

Yeah, either the lanterns are very well hidden or they're spaced a bit far apart so far. Not a big deal so far but it is noticeable.

Wow fuck these werewolves. Guess I'm using molotovs next time

Omg these things are more annoying than anything I rmember in dark souls!

Here's a tip to help you:

There's a shortcut just past the werewolves. You don't even need to fight them, run past and on your left as you move up the bridge you'll see a path leading into a building. Keep following down there and you'll eventually find a gate to open as a shortcut

I realize this thread is probably going fast as hell but how does getting summoned work? I have the bell that you ring if you need assistance but how do you actually get summoned?

BTW: Cleric Beast DOWN! 2nd try and didn't use any molotovs.

this is my first time playing a soul game/well i guess a soul-like game..but im getting a distinctive berzerk feel to this game, which i know i shouldn't and I'm probably wrong, but it just feels I'm playing in Guts' world

I have no idea how summoning works. I rang my beckon bell, I lost an insight point and nothing happened.

It really sucks because you lose precious Insight by trying to figure it out. Maybe co op diesnt work because of a bug, who knows.
