Yeah I think I'm gonna reroll. The cane has been cool for group combat but it is pitiful against anything else.

Also, am I going a bit nuts or am I not respawning with stuff anymore?
Huh?

Anyone know a shortcut to first boss? I can't beat the 2 wolves just before (cane does almost no damage) and I have no interest running through the trash mobs again...

Bait them down the steps if you have to. They will follow you and just hike it past them. Use the pebbles if you have to.

Noticed that second part as well. At first I'd regain some blood vials each time I died but now I get nothing

You can buy all the starting weapons in the hub area. There's messengers in a pot to the left when you go into the Hunter's Dream

Couldn't beat the first boss
Cleric
. So instead explored a bit and found another boss:
father coigsine (or whatever his name was)
Man, what a rush, beating that guy required me to finally get into the spirit of Bloodborne. I was trying the keep away game at first, but he kept hitting me over and over. It wasn't until I started dodging his attacks sideways that I could finally get some hits in. Amazing fight.

Drop rate gets lower the more you kill the same mobs. Which can happen when dying repeatedly to a stupid boss. The atmosphere for the game is amazing btw.
Wooow.

run past the two wolves. There should be path on the left with a guy standing in front it a bit further ahead. It should lead into a house. Open the door and and keep going and you should make it back to the Central Yarnham campfire. Good shortcut to the first boss.
Awesome, thanks.

You know when you get up the bridge where the werewolves are at? Go to the opposite side of the bridge and go down the small steps- there's where you can grab an item look in the back and you'll see the sewers. You can roll down, but keep a close eye on where you fall down to.

Ty SunBros. I see the light now.

So the game downloaded via PSN and I don't see any updates pending, yet when I try to play online, it says unable because the game isn't fully installed...?

The game is pretty awesome so far.
Some observations.
Just got through Cleric Beast on my 4th try. Nothing too hard so far. The combat doesn't feel that much faster than previous Souls games. Yarnham is my favorite starting area between any souls game. Dodge switching, switch attacking, charge attacking are great additions to the Souls combat formula. I really like the risk/ reward with the health regen. I find hard to fight against my instincts and just rush in to get my health back.
A few things I haven't liked.
The load times are awful. I hate that I have to go to the hunters dream instead of doing my business at the lamp.

Man, Lanterns are few and far between. I accidentally fell into the bottom of the sewers and had to spend like half an hour carefully figuring out where the hell I was and how to get back to Central Yarnham without dying.

Also I think I'm doing something wrong, because I haven't met the Cleric Beast, but I just got murdered by
Father Gascoine.

Almost walked into a lightpole while browsing GAF and walking to school at the same time

Done for tonight, put in 2 and half hours straight. I'm liking it quite a bit.
Currently on Father Gascoigne put in 4/5 attempts. Got him down really low last time but got caught up on something and just missed healing. Oh well.

So no one has figured out how to get summoned yet?

How on earth do you parry? I thought the gun was just for crowd control or something. I'm new to all this Dork Souls business.

I've always played mages in Souls games, so melee is a bit of a new experience for me. I started with the cane, but I didn't like it that much and switched to cleaver. Doing okay with it so far, although I'm not finding a lot of use for the transformed mode other than using the R2 attack on a big group of enemies.

I love the Elder Scrolls games. What that in mind, will I enjoy this game? I've never played Dark Souls.

Those are completely different games. Bloodborne is more about the combat and exploration. There's no open world like skyrim, or quests. I mean, there are quests and npcs. But there's no journal or quest markers. It's very subtle. The story is very subtle.

There's no map. No hand holding of any kind.

No one can say if you'll enjoy it. Take a look at some walkthroughs of the previous souls games if you don't want to be spoiled.

Wait, I don't need to die/defeat Cleric in order to level up? Can I just use Homeward Bone? How much do they cost in the stores? How long does it take to cast?

You can cast it during bosses. It takes a confirmation box an like 2 seconds till you're out. They are like 600 (?) be in the beginning, I don't know exactly because I found mine

I don't get the Coldblood Dew mechanics. I get some stacks of 3 I can consumed all at once or indivually. But other stacks of 3 I can only consume in one shot.

Just did a coop session where we 3 vs 1 the second boss. It couldn't even move - stunlocked to death. Coop is indeed easy mode again it would seem. Very nice for those who assist.

If you would like to coop as a bro
, get 10 insight then buy the bell from the vendor outside the house in the dream. The second story one.
