So I finally died by the hands of the damned
cleric beast
... And I almost got it with my cane :(

Dunno why I didn't use the gun from the beginning of the fight. Shit is very useful.

Ok this question will probably annoy a lot, but it is done in good and honest spirit.

The game looks like it is amazing, probably a must play.

I have finished Demon Souls and started Dark Souls 1, but eventually dropped it. Back then I came to the realization that this type of game probably isnt for me.

My question is, is Bloodborne more "accessible" than its predecessors? Not necessarily easier, but just accessible in the sense of a normal difficulty curve and such.

Harder in the beginning but it becomes easier like all Souls game.
But the combat is more accessible due to more flow and faster gameplay.
I had watched some of the worse players playing BB, and after a few hours and a couple of bosses down, they became better since the combat system is so smooth.

played 4 hours now.

Initial thoughts -- I picked noble scion, which in retrospect I think is probably a bad choice. I mean, bloodtinge may or may not be great later on at some point for various reasons (maybe there's a cool piece of gear that needs it), but in the early game it's clear there's no reason. I would suggest staying away from this origin! pick a strength or vitality heavy origin.

in any case, the game was iniitally pretty daunting, but once I got the hang of it it became a bit better. I strongly feel the game is harder than dark souls in the early portion. Obviously this may change over the long haul. The early game makes you fight very densely packed and aggressive enemies, many of which can kill you in one or two hits. Dark Souls wasn't like that in the early game.

I killed the first boss, the
cleric beast. I failed a few times, primarily because I was trying so hard to figure out how to reliably parry him. After I stopped thinking about this and just battled him, I realized he's not actually all that hard to just beat down.

(early weapon spoiler) what do you guys think of the
repeating pistol
? is it worth it?

anyway, back to those
sewers
I found.. intimidating as heck...

btw, still streaming! http://www.twitch.tv/tapezilla

New to the series and boy did it show. Took me 3 hours to get to beat the
Cleric Beast
. Finished him on my first try but getting to him and having all the equipment I felt I needed was brutal.

Man, I'm having such a blast, as a first timer with the series I'm doing pretty good, the first enemy that killed me
was that giant frankestein dude
, I didn't feel frustrated until I fighted against
the wolves
because when I died I had to start all over again but it was only twice, then I found
a shortcut through a house.

I fought three times against the first boss
Cleric Beast
and lost but my third attempt was quite interesting, I learned his move set but ran out of vials and bullets at that time, I lasted a lot and took off half his life before I died again.

Time to sleep and start fresh tomorrow, a long day expects me.

Humble video of my second attempt at first boss

basically

im not used to games that throw you in the deep end and don't have clear cut goals and objective points

feels like it was designed primarily for souls veterans

The Souls games are similar in that respect, though, and everyone had to start somewhere. Plus, it seems like some of the things that Souls veterans have picked up as habit are a bit detrimental (like backing off of enemies when they attack, particularly after getting hit, which negates the benefit of the regain system).

Anyone in EU preloading it yet?

So.... Did the collector's edition sell out? I completely forgot I pre ordered it from Amazon and didn't have it in my budget this month.. I'm going to return it but was considering offering it up to a gaffer instead if the CE had become hard to find.

Getting through Old Yarnham now, so far so good.

Couple of tweaks they need to patch in though:

- Speed up load screens and add some lore stuff in between
- Allow for cross teleporting without going back to the Hunter's Dream
- Enemy spawns reset after touching bonfires

Other than that, I love it.

Dies on Cleric twice with a cane character. Thought it would be a cakewalk but nope, he hits hard and fast.

Started an axe user that I'm using to co-op with a friend and got to the same point with him.

Feels great. I think we'll be playing this one for a long time.

not sure about when upgraded but base Kirkhammer is kinda garbage. Has nice scaling though so it probably gets good when upgraded / you have STR.

Still waiting....checking PS Store in browser - it is down for me.

Is this your first souls game? Because that is how bonfires work.

Yeah, no shield to help ease the learning curve.
They literally throw you in a pit of enemies, and tell you to git gud brah.

You can play it very similarly (if not optimally) by just doing a bunch of two-handed jumping attacks when first starting out.
After just coming off of another two-handed Dark Souls 2 run, the beginning of the game hasn't been giving me any issues at all. In fact, the back dash makes this style even easier.

Think I've explored everything up to two bosses, but can't seem to beat either of them. After dying 3 times to a torch wielding guy without landing a hit ... I think it's time for bed and not 'just one more try'. Gotten an extra set of armour opened up a few short cuts, killed a bunch of weird things and large things and slimey things.

Although, I did only give
father gascoigne
one try, but thew myself at
cleric beast
more times than I care to admit.

Sucks that you use up insight if you don't get a successful summon ;(

People who are dying on the cleric beast using a cane you can get the Sawcleaver before facing him.

On the bridge that leads you to the Cleric Beast, just turn left on the stairs before you face the two werewolves and go down on that dark house, keep going forward until you find some dogs in cages. Kill then and just ahead there will be a stair leading down and an ominous window with some red light. Go down those stairs but before you face one man beast on the stairs there is a secret passage blocked by some barrels to the right. Go down the passage and you will see two bodies hanged walk the narrow path to then and cut the rope. The saw cleaver is on the furthest one. Just be aware that you will fall down to the sewers below when you cut the rope and face some rats. They are easy to kill (use the wip) you will find a ladder to take you back to where you started.

Hopefully you guys can find it.

And I have a question too, I killed the Cleric Beast, found the Saw Cleaver and the Hunter Clothes but I can't find where I should go next.

I can't make the elevator work (the one guarded by two brick giants).

Help?

No I've played them all. Touching a lantern does not respawn enemies and having to go to the Hunter's Dream to teleport to another area makes you go through 2 long load screens. It's annoying.

Okay I completely wrecked Cleric Beast after turning off my targeting computer. Guess I need to learn to not rely on lock all the time.

For the bigger monsters it can be a good idea to not lock on to fight them. It can be a good idea to just toggle through all their lock on points to see if they have some sort of "hidden" weakness though, like how
shooting the first boss in the head a few times stuns him.

Threaded cane is so good , just cheesed fathers G. first part before
transformation
, without losing any health. Just place yourself and him between the graves closest to the fog gate. After that just hit r2 whip. Based Destiny. Cheese is strong with us.

Finally leveled up. Went from level 4 to 16. Holding on to those echoes this whole time was a fucking ordeal let me tell you... so many damn close calls.

Now these peon enemies don't want to see me. Shades on, pimp cane in hand, and zero fucks to give; I'm comin' for that ass.

Man I just got slaughtered by the Cleric Beast lol

Yeah he took be about 5 tries the camera problem for me in this game so far is the fact when you lock on it makes you strife instead of roll.... But upgrading that saw blade 3 times and I beat him with not much problem I did level up 7 times though loooviing the shit out of this game I will say I will realllllllllllllllly miss numbered spawns from ds2. I mean they gave the option to the player but just took it away from me :( I see myself just running past a lot of enemies in the future...down the road it will be pointless for them to be their.. Love in it soo far really hope that patch is soon the loading times are bad but you really don't notice much because your sooo excited to be playing this game..
