hey guys a bit of a problem..im trying to play online but it says starting offline play because its not fully downloaded

i just checked and everything is installed and downloaded

Just going to copy this to the next page because this thread is booking it.

So I've played about an hour of the game. Awesome game so far, but I'm confused but I few things. Do you get your "souls" back by killing the enemy that killed you? If so, are you just screwed if you adventured too far and fought a tough enemy? Also, I feel like my pistol is weak. What are the basic strategies to using the gun to your advantage?

Reading the OT is making the workday go so much slower.

Hoping the patch doesn't take too long to download when I start the game for the first time.

Well, time to face off the dreaded Cleric Beast...

I lived a long life, noomi. Make sure to bury Hawkmoon with my corpse.

Good luck! Took me a few hours to get through that fight! I will bury all 9 hawkmoons with you.

Yes , will tell you everything when we connect.

Dude, I can't even tell you how excited I am to play with you when I get home. I need to back track and get the
shake off cape emote
first though!

The game lets you play before it's fully downloaded

Hit options over the game's icon and check the information to see the rest of its progress

When you die your souls drop at the spot where you died. There's a chance an enemy nearby might claim at which point you'd have to kill them.

The pistol isn't really meant for damage. If you time using it correctly while an enemy is attacking, you'll get them in a downed state. Run up to them and hit R1 for massive damage.

I'm a big souls fan, my biggest worry is lack of variation in environments... I've seen this is a couple reviews, is it a legit complaint?

Not really. Everything is varied as hell. Even the districts within Yharnam are incredibly varied and full of life, despite being the same city.

I'm sooo ready!

One last question for now-

Again, feel like my blunderbuss fires too slow- is the pistol faster?

Is there anyway to switch to the pistol if so? Also, Im strength heavy, not sure if that affects anything

Brad on the Bombcast mentioned he liked the regular pistol best because it was the quickest to fire.

So where do we get the item that lets us be summoned by others to help out? I've got the bell that allows me to summon ppl but I want to find the one that lets me help out a friend.

Game is great other than the camera being kinda terrible for me. I turned off "auto-adjust" and that helped a lot but I'd say half my deaths were partially camera related.

Camera is similar to other souls games but because of the increased speed I struggled with it. I'm sure I will adjust over time. (Of course, it also didn't help that I was tired and dealing with a crying baby every 30 minutes lol).

Wait, why can't I play my digital US copy on my EU Ps4?

I've logged in on my US account, but there's still a countdown.

This is annoying as fuck.

So many of you guys are saying Demon's Souls..... Not at all what I would have expected, especially since so many people say that's the most obtuse of all the games. I'm trying to find the most accessible one, especially since I'm worried that I'm not a good enough gamer to finish one of these games. Is Demons really the best place for someone starting out, or is that your bias towards the series speaking?

Well I mean, any game is going to provide a challenge if you're new to the series. May as well start at the beginning like many of us did. There's no real consensus on which one is the easiest or hardest.

If you
go to the sewers and find the big boar...kill him, loot the mark
You'll then be able to buy the starter pistol.

Beat first boss, then went to Best Buy. Guy walking out takes one look at me and asks "you here for Bloodborne?" Haha apparently he could still sense the hype...

What's the point of invading people again? I would feel a bit douchey if I tried that...

Rubenov doesn't want to PvP? What is this world coming to...

Also, shout out to BB-DGAF!

Like I said before at least up to the second boss bloodborne is by far the easiest but it could just be a more difficulty curve in the end.

Demons was brutal in the first area. Dark souls was easier..ds2 was easier than ds1 first area.

With the lack of shields, I'm finding myself actually paying attention to enemy movements. And I can see that I'm improving a lot. Still don't know how to parry. :/

Yes, SoulsGAF, I was a turtle. You can all make fun of me.

Fuck just picked this up on my break and now I have to wait 3 more hours to play it. When I get home the dog's are going for a run instead of walk and then it's game time. Today I gave no girlfriend or responsibilities.

I'm so torn if I want to start playing this today or wait until I finish Type 0 HD... I hate interrupting games in the middle of a playthrough, but I don't want to feel "rushed" and wanting to get to Bloodborne, lol.

So last night I encountered a crazy man in a wheel chair. He shot at me so I killed him. Was this a mistake?

Nope! He actually scared the shit out of me the first time. After you respawn or load-in from hunters dream he will be there again.

i will have to practice a bit with my Blunderbuss when I get home. Need to figure out how to stun and do the stun attack better with it, actually haven't done one yet.

Is it stun and then R2? I kept hitting R1 accidently last night like when fighting those hunchbacked ogre dudes. Would time it just right, stun, and then ... R1 ... DAMNIT

2 cents: DS2 is the most accessible. Also going to be a more active online community than DeS since it's still relatively "new". Of course you'd probably want to wait for the new PS4 version if you are going that route.

Damnit... 6 hours in question:

I accidentally killed the big-headed creature behind the clinic door right by where you start. Have I screwed myself? The weird thing is he dropped a vial of blood, but the game said I couldn't pick it up because my inventory was full... so I went back to the hunter's dream to drop stuff off in storage and when I came back he was just dead on the floor and had no blood vial any more.

When I first played Demons Souls I used to nervously let my shield down only on occasion for a sneaky jab, before getting back behind it and back tracking like a complete wimp
