Yes it's terrible. Have you tried that thing to
shoot it in the face and then run up for a critical hit?

And yeah, don't lock on.

I tried shooting it a few times, what's the best timing to get it to stun? I was waiting for him to start attacking but that might not be what I need to do, because i could never seem to interrupt his attacks :P

Has anyone come across that
giant spider thing
perched on a building that there was a thread about months ago? I'm just curious what it ended up being in the context of the game.

It's hard, but it's the kind of hard where just as you're about to give up, you have a eureka moment encouraging you to press on. I spent 2 hours last night just trying to get from the first checkpoint to the second, was getting frustrated, then discovered a shortcut. It's so rewarding when that happens.

A lot of the difficulty can be overcome with a guide, to me the exploration and trial/error is an integral part of the experience but if the only way you can play is with a guide, it's better than not at all.

Bosses are of course hard, but luckily you can summon other players to help you. On my first Souls game, i think I summoned on every single boss. Don't be ashamed to get carried.

Can't really recommend buying a PS4 and BB if you have no interest in the souls games. If you already had a PS4 it would be worth a shot, but in your case, if you don't like hard games, I'd say to stay clear. Bloodborne is difficult. Sounds to me that you prefer playing games for the ride more than the challenge. That's cool- everyone has their preference, but it's probably not a good idea to jump on this particular hype train if you know in your heart you will be disappointed.

Thanks for the honest feedback

It's not that I have no interest in the Souls games -- like I said, I love the settings and environments. It's the exact type of settings/graphics I like in video games

I just don't have much interest in playing hard games (without a difficulty option you can change)

Bluenoser you are correct that I mostly love games for the experience, not challenge

So I have no reservations about using guides or getting help from friends. With this being the case, can BB be doable for someone like me? I guess I'm asking if it requires super fast reflexes to beat, even if you look up guides/info?

Picked up my collector's edition from Gamestop at 10 this morning.

Waiting for the update file to finish downloading and then I am finally ready to explore Yharnam with the rest of GAF in the nightly hunt.

Anyway hope everyone else is enjoying or will enjoy their time in the game now that it is finally released.

Refreshed the page and saw this. Lol.

you owe it to yourself to at least try it. I bought Dark Souls and sold it because I thought it just wasn't for me. A friend showed me the ropes for 10 minutes on the same save game (which was, after 20 hours, still at the starters area before the gargoyles) and he showed me that it was, well, quite simple really.

They have to click, and I think that if you're a gamer, these games will click. For some at a different point than the other, but they definitely will.

I hate to ask but, is there anybody willing to let me do a quick 30min shareplay to try the game out?

Do you have to time the shot? When do you do it?

I tried shooting it a few times, what's the best timing to get it to stun? I was waiting for him to start attacking but that might not be what I need to do, because i could never seem to interrupt his attacks :P

I did it by accident. :0 You can target his torso or head, I hit him when he was about to charge and he dropped to the ground and presented his face to me. When I ran up to hit him it was a special crit strike that took off almost 1/4 damage. I couldn't do it again and ran out of bullets, but it was enough to get the fight started in my favor. The rest was stick and move.

finally beat cleric beast, and in typical souls fashion, after struggling about 7-8 times, I beat it easily..though via molotov cheese ~___~

already ran into another boss before that via exploration and got utterly stomped

so I have the bells for summoning or w/e, but how do I make it so I can help other people? since no more putting down our signs

I heard the level range for co-op was -/+ 10%, but it's gotta be wrong, right? I mean at level 16 earlier, I could get summoned all the time and I'm pretty sure they wern't just a level higher or lower than me.

Jesus christ, I strolled through Dark Souls 2 after DeS+DaS, Cleric Beast is leaving me mentally broken, sadly I think in large part due to the camera but other than that the world design/enemy design/atmosphere/music has been boss.

Also farming for stuff kinda sucks, I liked my Estus flasks :(

Man, this game is gorgeous.

I just beat the Cleric Beast, I think I'm gonna explore a bit & keep looking around instead of advancing, there's no need to rush, it's probably gonna take me 100+ hours to finish my first playthough.

There is no way to advance further in the game without killing the first boss right? I'm asking this because I'm trying to explore as much as possible before walking to the end of the bridge...

I saw a few people earlier saying you need to reach the first boss to awaken the doll. You do not. You can find madmans knowledge by exploring before the boss, and level up :)

Cool, my copy has been dispatched by The Game Collection. Hopefully, I get it tomorrow.

Still a day after you guys, but it beats having to wait until Friday.

You have to kill the first boss before you can start leveling up.

The Cleric dude I believe.

Actually after I went back to the Hunter's Dream after dying to him, I had one insight and was able to access the level up feature from the Doll, she was alive then. I'm not sure if you have to die to get 1 insight or if it was a bug. On my character that has one insight I still haven't killed the Cleric Beast.

So I picked my physical version up and they gave me a collector's edition "free" for reasons unknown. I thanked them and was secretly overjoyed.

Lesson learned: If you want something release day guaranteed, don't order through Best Buy, even with expedited shipping. Game shipped a half hour ago, now I can't play until tomorrow. :(

I did the same through Amazon. Got a notification this morning saying it isn't arriving until Thursday. :(

Wow I really need to git gud. Keep dying to the two werewolves before the first boss. I've racked up 10k blood doing this run over and over. This is from a DS and DS2 veteran :(

I just realized I forgot I
had a torch though, so maybe that'll help the next time. They do seem to take a lot of damage from fire.

Hey guys does anybody know if you can dual wield melee weapons and how?

Not in the same sense as Souls where either weapon can go on either hand. LH/RH weapons have different designations. There are some LH weapons that aren't guns, like the torch. Since the kirkhammer provides both a longsword and greathammer type moveset, it is similar to duel wielding/ power stancing these weapon types in Dark Souls, but with much more fluid combos.
