Hey if I wanted to focus on weapons with attack speed like the saw cleaver, would I want to focus on Strength or Skill for stats?

Edit: lol what happened in the post above me, hahaha.

question about blood vials and bullets. After I die the vials and bullets are refilled to 20/20. Does it refill automatically from my inventory or do I get back the vials/bullets before I died?

Whenever you pick up Blood Vials or Quicksilver Bullets while at 20 of either, the extras get sent to your storage at the Dream. If you die it will pull new ones automatically from storage as they're available.

Also I beat the first boss and went back to the hub world, but I couldn't find the old man anymore. I'm pretty sure I didn't attack him, but he seems to not be there now. Hope I didn't miss out on him, he was funny lol.

My impressions from the game are mostly very positive so far, but for the moment: I'm not sure I like summoning using up an Insight every attempt. There's no indication if summoning worked or failed due to network problems. Unlike spending a Humanity in Dark Souls to be capable of summoning, you lose the Insight after one attempt.

I appreciate the concept of making it less exploitable to summon your way through the bosses, but it feels pretty stingy.

It's in the grassy area, you can access it by going around one of the sides, just explore the dream thoroughly and you should see it.

I see the stump but it's not giving me the option to change skins. I downloaded both of them and it says installed on my system but there wasn't a popup in game or anything. Is there something else I have to do first?...face the first boss once?

I think your concerns are totally valid. My statement to you would be "think about it differently." Bloodborne's entire design philosophy is take out anything that's not relevant to melee offense at a quick pace. Because of it, the game is extremely different from Souls. You really can't compare the two and you shouldn't.

Very true I suppose. DS2, while not as good as the other two souls games imo, was kind of like a warm blanket kind of a game. I had experimented a lot in the previous games, found the playstyle that worked well for me and I stuck with it, had a good time. Knowing that such a play style is impossible in BB is disappointing since... well most of the stuff doesn't exist anymore.

Still, I enjoyed my time playing it at PAX and reviews are all crazy good so I'm cautiously optimistic I'll still have fun.

I asked this question before going to bed last night. Just gonna ask it again now that people are probably a bit further in the game.

Difficulty wise, how is the game compared to the souls games? People said it was as hard or harder last night. But in other threads and websites, I've also seen people say it's easier, bosses especially?

guys, can we please spoiler tag boss names etc

i understand cleric, gascoigne, are at this point common knowledge but many others dont know whats coming next, even names giving away genders or other context is pretty spoilery to some

Not sure, Im looking at my stats, and right hand weapon 2 attack is super low.
Oh that just means the attack of your second weapon. You can equip 2 weapons per slot and press left and right in the d-pad to swap. Right hand weapon 2 damage is low because that's probably your bare handed damage

So uuh, any info regarding
beast form
? Or is that debunked as just some stat that does whatever?

Me and a fella have been discussing what it actually does, but i can't find anything on it.

I found the stump after the first boss, so I wouldn't know.

that moment when you finally get the game.... update it and play about
30mins of it only to release that you got a shit ton of stuff to do before you can dedicate your life to this game :/

Well I hope to play some more in the afternoon

I agree, it should not be used until it sucessfully connects you. Dark Souls had a similar issue with red eyed orbs being used even if it couldn't find someone to invade, and they fixed that. Hopefully they will change this.

On the other end of things, I'm being summoned to help people every time I ring my bell. It takes seconds. This is awesome.

Upgrade stats at Hunter's Dream after you meet the first boss

No XP storing, but friendly tip: don't use the echo-giving blood items unless you're immediatly going to spend your XP

The game autosaves at every single thing you do. Used an item, killed an enemy, died, etc

Thanks.

As for "echo-giving blood items", I don't believe I got any so far.

The answer is still going to vary. But for me, it's harder so far because there is no defense. Just dodge and parry and hope your timing is good. We will see what happens after I move on.

As a Souls vet, the first area of the game is the hardest among Souls games.

First boss is basically Taurus Demon 2, but without being able to exploit the start of the fight with overhead attacks.

I can't remember the last time we universally geeked out over a game like this. Was TLOU like this? I can't remember

So I've heard conflicting things. Which starting gun stuns the best? I originally heard that the Blunderbuss was better at stunning and had more spread so can hit multiple targets, but then I also read someone else say the pistol stuns more. Does anyone have any thoughts who have played some of the game? Not sure which one I should choose.

Pistol is faster, Blunderbuss does AoE. They stun the same but it's easier with the pistol

So for my first run though (I played a bit of Dark Souls, never finished) should I go with ...

  • Lone Survivor-SawCleaver-pistol
  • Veteran-Axe-Pistol
  • Something else?

About 8 hours in, just beat my fifth boss. Having a ton of fun with the game and load times aside it's pretty much exactly what I wanted. The only thing that slightly bugs me is that the game's visual style has felt very 'samey.' I'm sure I still have a lot more to see, so hopefully they will be some more distinct areas as I play on.

Man, I don't even care how many times
Gascoigne
kills me that fight is fucking amazing.

I hope there are more fights like it, or better than it.

Honestly, I went into this one Half-blind after hearing about it ages ago when it was Beast Souls and kept my eye on it without really watching more than what we've seen in the trailers(pretty much central yarnham, I know of two other locations, three if you count The Hunter's Nightmare/Dream/Requiem/sanctuary or whatever).

THIS FUCKING GAME.

Top to bottom amazing and I've just started it content wise, the Chalice dungeons are going to ruin my liiiiife.
