After 2 days of back and forth trying to figure out what to go, I've decided Cane, Veteran and Pistol. Pretty sure you can get a Saw Spear fairly early on in game after the first boss in
the sewers
. It has the same animation as the saw cleaver, but longer range and damage I hear, though its a tad slower.
 
3 more hours at work, then wait on UPS for my CE. Thread has me stoked to play though. I watched a little of Patrick's stream last night and the art direction in this game looks phenomenal. Definitely see myself revisiting this game around Halloween.

Yargh...at least the work day is going by fast. Glad people are enjoying it!
 
It's living up to my expectations, which were dangerously lofty. And if the loading and performance improves even a little after the patch, even better. By far the best exclusive I've played since Wonderful 101. Also very happy I went with Canevania as my weapon.
 
I was ringing my sinister bell
in the Nightmare Frontier, when it says a woman was drawn to my chime or something, and in a cave there's a decrepit old woman ringing a bell who definitely wasn't there any time prior/when I wasn't ringing it. I can lock on to her but she's paying me no mind. Just ringing her bell to a massive and beautiful chime. What does it all meaaaaannnn. Miyazaaakiiiiiiii!
 
Looking for strat recommendations for (5th boss spoiler)
the electrical werewolf beast. I'm level 45, put on the gear that has the most bolt resistance but his reach is insane!
 
How the heck do I summon my friend? Same passcode in network options then use the beckoning bell? Then does my friend click something? I am so confused.

Doesn't matter, found them. For anybody looking for the pre-order items, there's a small garden around the back of the Hunter's Dream building.
 
I bought this game to play co-op with my friends. But reading through the OP seems like the multiplayer aspect is really limited. If true that's a major disappointment for me.

haven't noticed that one. Damn I hope I can explain my self. At yarkham's centre lamp, if you already opened the door by the left go straight and cross the building where you open two doors. Justo cross it and you'll see a shiny red window. Before going downstairs, break some old boxes at the right to enter the ceiling. At the other side(watch out not to fall) there is again another bunch of stuff and if you destroy them once again you'll find a passage that takes you to the hunter.

i use the "slow" form 80% of the time. It's hard hitting and the R1 has reach.

That what i started to appreciate early in DeS and DaS: better do a lot of damage with 1-2 hits/attacks and retreat instead of having to hit way more with fast but less hitting attacks of (and therefore be more in danger of getting hit yourself).
 
I came here to whine and moan that I still have to wait a few hours until I get to play this.
Guess I'll watch the new Powers episode and some Netflix.

Well, it isn't like normal co-op games but if you guys can stay alive you are good to go.

The reviews varied widely surprisingly, but I would say the average is at least 40+ hours.
 
who am I kidding? I got like 1 ½ hours of sleep and I kept dreaming of BB..

I'm awake now. FOUR HOURS AND THIRTY MINUTES LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The co-op aspect of the game is designed to help you get through bosses that you're struggling on - you aren't supposed to play through the entire game in multiplayer. You can set up a password so you can only do co-op with friends, though.

i mean you could do whole-game co-op, but you would have to switch back and forth into players worlds/defeat bosses twice
 
Can I buy/get the other starting weapons somewhere before the first boss? I want to start with the cane, but I'm afraid it'd make the boss too hard lol
 
to be honest I'm not liking too much this co-op system, seeing the summon signs in the other souls games was better. also I understand that the game just came out in us but I was expecting more acitivity. I tried gaf password but no one was available, I'll try later and see if I can be summoned. use the password! You have to go to settings and insert it there.
does anyone know the level range already? I'm 31 so I'm not sure if I could help people at 10-15 for the first or second boss.

that woman is for the pvp, from what I understand when she appears you are able to invade or getting invaded.

honestly fuck the female Hunter, I'm thinking of killing her now because I just want her weapon, if the whole thing is bugged and she disappears I'll probably end up playing the whole run with the cane. rip
edit / ok, just saw who drops the twin shards.

In the sewers there is a tunnel with a big-ass pig in it. Kill it and take the hunter's badge behind him, it'll open all the starting weapons for purchase at the Dream

This is honestly one of the main reasons I'm holding off on a purchase. For a game where frequent deaths are all but guaranteed, it seems like a major flaw.
 
My new favorite in game message is "wonderous rolling", ive seen them a couple times now in front of rooms where you can break a ton of of objects. It doesn't make me giggle like 'tounge but hole" but its good.

Oh yeah, also, what the hell does the second number means in the upper right below the Echos total?

on my first try.

Though, it came down to the wire. I'm shaking still, haha. Also completely out of blood vials.
 
What i don't undestand about the co-op:
Can you only invade other invading players? I ring the sinister bell but nothing has ever happened
 
Again, my throat is activating my gag reflexes... anyone know what the hell is this new shit that's been happening to my body lately? It's happened a few times now in the past 2 days and it's not comfortable at all.

Like, it only happens when my hype exceeds my body cap.
