I feel like I'm a reverse difficulty Souls player.
Cleric Beast
took forever to beat, he killed me like 15 times but I beat
Gascoigne
2nd attempt after 2/3rdsing his life on the first try(woulda won too but his
sudden beast transformation caught me off guard
)

I beat the Cleric Beast yesterday, and all day today I've just been wanting to fight him again since I never figured out that you could aim for his head and stun him. I really wish the game let you replay bosses for fun, since I kinda want a rematch.

When you want to replay a boss, the best way to do it is to use the bell which allows you to get summoned into other player's world to help them. I've read you can buy it once you get 10 insight.

It's a win-win. You help a player get through a boss, and you also gain insight without the ability to lose blood echo's I believe.

Pretty annoyed with the game right now. Serious camera issues and environment sticking with 2nd boss, and the load times are making repeated attempts tedious. Unsuccessful at summoning anyone for co-op, either.
I can take out Father's first form no prob either straight up or by pistol riposting, but I can't see shit with the second form and constantly get stuck on stuff.
. ~20 attempts now. Everything else in the game has been no prob. :|
Just wondering, do you have camera on automatic wall avoidance? That annoyed me at first so I turned it off.

Soo I'm stuck already, I died at the 1st enemy cuz wasn't really paying attention and now I'm at forest area, how do I leave this area?

Finally got a notice from Amazon saying my CE has shipped. Overnighting it from across the country. Hopefully it actually does get here tomorrow. Tomorrow is my only day off all week. So excited to finally play this game.

Same, finally just got my email...one day, but still pretty fuckin pissed.

Can someone tell me where to go after the werewolves on the bridge to find another bonfire/whatever or at least get to the point where I can level up? I wouldn't mind repeating this stuff if I could actually level from the blood I get...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I received the summoning items after I defeated the Cleric Beast. Unless there is a way around it?

You get the bell to summon other players before Cleric (when the doll awakens with 1 insight) but to have the bell that responds to the call (lets you actually join the person requesting help) is sometime afterwards, once you gain 10 insight and buy it from some messenger at Hunter's Dream.

When you enter the arena,
run to your right and then forward up the stairs and fight him on the platform. If he pushes you back to one end, jump down and circle around
.

Wearing
Father G's outfit
resulted in (Old Yharnam spoilzzz)
the machine gunner atop the tower not attacking me. Going through the level leisurely now.
Love this.

...wat

though the fight with the machine gunner is amazing.... as long as he doesnt fall off the tower.

You dont until you beat a boss. Find a shortcut to easily get back and forth. You unlock leveling up the first time you defeat or die to a boss.

Closest Lantern is behind the boss.

Otherwise you can open a shortcut to the second Lantern in the game by entering the house near the wolves, heading downstairs and then left.

Had 4500 echoes... Died...

You can go back and retrieve them at least. :)

Plus, 4500 echoes honestly is not a huge amount. It sucks, but it wouldn't take a whole lot to grind that back.

If you desperately need echoes and can't get back to where you died, I generally just play through a small section of a level to get 1-2k souls, head back to the lantern, go back to the dream, then back. Rinse and repeat.

Of course, make sure that you then use those echoes. You never want to be running around with a bank of echoes if you can help it. If you run near a lantern, just bite the bullet, use it, level up, and head back into the area. Sure, the enemies respawn, but you're now a higher level so it will become easier.

Indeed. I'm getting the Saw Cleaver for the third boss.

I'd been using the Kirkhammer ever since it was available, but I had to end up going with the Saw Cleaver for the third boss as well. Hate to say it, but it's the best mash and forget style weapon. At least for early-mid game. It's slightly slower than the Kirkhammer sword when extended, but has twice the range and isn't even really much slower. Does more damage too. Kirkhammer long form and Axe are unfortunately either too slow or don't have enough range.

Can't wait to try out Ludwig's.

That's a real shame. Is it really that long?

Not quite that long, but it's a good 30-45 seconds, even if you die like right next to a lantern.

It's long enough to be frustrating each time.

Am I the only one having trouble finding blood echoes after they are dropped?

Do you mean after you die when trying to retrieve them? When you die, they aren't dropped on the ground like in Souls. An enemy nearby where you died now has them. Their eyes will glow purple-ish to indicate they have your echoes. It's not always the enemy which killed you either, but it seems to be whatever enemy spawns closest to where you died.

A minute? No way. I haven't seen one longer than 20 seconds.

A minute and a half? Goodness no

It's like 30~40 seconds. It just feels like forever since the loading screens are just a big-ass logo.

Okay. That's doable.

I find it strange if the level is loaded into memory that it takes that much time to reload. You would think it's near instant.

Arghhhh damn you all playing it!! Being in the UK really sucks. Although it being reviewed today and not released until Friday has given me time to work on my friends to get PS4s and join the pain!

The world not resetting when hitting a lantern and needing to go back through load screens to do so makes grinding take way longer than it should.

I'm getting brutalized in the first area and I love it.

oh, and the load times don't bother me in the slightest. wouldn't have ever thought they were an issue if it hadn't been mentioned.. :/

Super noob question here that may have been answered, but alas... I've killed the first boss and I've died on the second so far, but I still haven't found out where to go to open the gate to the left of the lamp in central yharnam. Did I miss it or not there yet?

I was going to enter that house and went a different path instead and then proceeded to die from being stuck between a lamp post and a fence from one of those dogs. Fun times.
