Started playing. Around an hour in. Have enough blood echoes and thinking of buying the complete Yharnam outfit. Yay or nay?

Don't buy it. You can acquire it from a loot drop somewhere in the starting area sewers.

edit: I can't believe this game is beating LoL on Twitch. I've never seen that before during a regular night, and the fact it's this game doing it makes it even more amazing.

Well deserved, too. The game is boss.

Alright folks. This is my FIRST souls game. Never had an interest in the previous games but the hype was unreal for this game and so I promised myself that if the reviews were 90% or higher across review sites I trust that I would get it. Well the reviews were great so I just picked up (Target deal) and now I'm home there's about 2 minutes left of the update file.

After attempting to defeat the first boss 16 times and dying repeatedly, I tried a new tactic by hitting him through obstacles. I got him down to his second form which caught me by surprise and died. I tried the cheese three more times and I just couldn't beat the second form. I tried one more time and he got stuck on one of the gravestone things and I killed him without him changing forms.

It was funny but I wish I beat it legitimately.

From the start I get the second boss consistently between 50 and 30 percent. That's a start, will def continue tomorrow. Fascinating game..

it's the Hunter's Attire in the sewers

Also, when I was running around the aqueduct in the first minutes of the game I was lucky enough to find the good Hunter set and could save my blood for leveling.

Blood starved
is kind of a bad boss. Can't do anything about the AOE
poison
. Just running around until an
antidote
animation gets me killed.

Dumb boss IMO.

So...difficulty-wise, what are we talking here. Harder than DS, easier? About the same?

First chunk of the game, at least, is a lot harder than any other souls game. I don't see that changing. I'm 20 hours in or something already and still die a lot more than I did in souls games. most enemies will explode you very quickly if they hit you, and you have no shield. tolerances are very tight and the margin for error is slim. I am still feeling perplexed by the several reviewers who cited the game as being easier than dark souls.

Anyone else think that Father Gascoigne is the girl with the music boxes father? I'm sure this is well known at this point, but I thought that was really cool.

Just wait for it
to dissipate. He'll do like a roar animation and then the cloud surrounds him for a while, then it fades away and you can move back in. Kinda hard to see when it's active but it definitely goes away after a little bit.

I love it

So I left a note right after the big pig, next to the pit fall, 'Fall is effective, you've come to the right place'

It's been rated foul 5 times ahhahahahahahahahaahha.

Yeah, didn't trust that bullshit. Lots of "Treasure awaits"

Yeah, fuck that. Knew it was a trap.

If you read the item description it says so explicitly, and if you
use the music box during the fight, it does... something :-)

Oh well I actually beat him before I got the music box XD. I didn't read it because I'm a fool.

I'm trying to find the mothers body though, any idea where it is?

The only thing I can think of is, I know for me personally, I'm much better at reflex combat than risk v reward combat. I know DS1 is about patience and risk/reward, where as BB seems more reflex-based? Obviously, I haven't played it so I dunno.

Regardless, thanks for the heads up.

I really don't like that the blood vials don't replenish after death if you don't have any in reserve. It makes it so when you die on a boss, not only do you have to run all the back, but also probably have to kill a bunch of enemies to get the blood vials back before the boss encounter again.

Using up all your blood vials and ammo on a boss and having to farm to retry is fucking stupid.

Are all the Bloodborne streams killing Twitch at the moment ? For the past few days, I havent been able to watch anything without constant buffering....it's never been like this for me

This is my first souls game too.. so be prepared to die. Also take it slow and methodical.

a little direction guys. which way do i head after killing blood-starved? everything's a dead end unless i'm missing something really obvious.

read something else about the second boss.

not only you meet his family, get the music box etc. but with Eileen quest, after you kill father G., you fight at the tomb against his partner, which probably was trying to get his revenge on you/whoever hunts other hunters (namely Eileen).

lore is so good already,,,

Prob harder than ds2 but a little easier than ds1

I've heard a couple of people say this, but I really don't understand how anyone can think that. This game has been far far more difficult for me than DkS ever was. I've played for around 4 hours and have yet to beat a boss.

I think I got extremely lucky fighting the first boss. About 70% health on him left I somehow managed to just stay behind him and he for some reason never turned around and ended up killing him with no damage taken. lol

Also, I find healing via the blood viles much much more forgiving then the flasks in Souls. It's way quicker to use.
