Still pre-first boss. The tension is absolutely unreal.

Dodging patrols, picking off stragglers, game throws a lot at you early on. Monster variety is nuts for early going too, werewolves, snipers, dogs, big guys. The enemy animations are so unsettling. Best moments so far, left the big guy knocking on the gate alone, *surprise* he wanders up anyways when you take on that group up the steps. Old man in the wheelchair nearly unloaded both barrels on me too, dodged just in time.

Finished the game a few hours ago... The game is imo the best game in the Souls series, but somehow I had the feeling that I missed so much and the ending was very strange an abrupt (Are there more?)

Also I missed some areas completely it seems and NPCs died here and there etc. etc. There are so many hidden things in this game... Finished at level 83 and startet new game +. NG+ is fucking hard and I die against the second boss again like my last playthrough.

Perhaps. 14 STR and 13 SKILL are decent, but Arcane is low, which means weaker molotovs. And Professional has 2 more END. I also really like the description for Professional: "Born specialist, fit for sleuthing or academia."

Holding down R2 lets you charge your attack. If you do this facing an unsuspecting enemy's back, you can "backstab" them with R1 immediately afterwards.

Well fuck me how did i not know that??!!

thx for the info!

Best advice I can give is run in, grab the souls, and run out without even trying to fight the wolves.

If you haven't fought the first boss, spend all your souls on molotov cocktails. You'll appreciate them.

I have no clue, I just hacked at the ankles for ten minutes. :P

Any way to use molotov rather then going through the inventory and hitting use?

Father Douchebag is pissing me off, lol. I can get to his
beast mode but then he just very quickly finishes me off. :(

I've been there. What ended up working for me was actually dodging diagonally towards him on his last phase instead of dodging backwards. He will keep wiffing his slashes and you can give him a whack or two in the back.

Where does your blood currency go when you die? I just died at the first big guy, and it's not in the spot where I died.

The enemy that killed you or another enemy that walked by the spot where you died picked up your echoes. They have glowing eyes as a tell. Kill them and you get your echoes back.

I don't know about other weapons, but surely Hunter Axe let you charge the attack if you hold R2 for few seconds and release the button. Thanks to the charging attack, I can beat two werewolves on the bridge much easier.

just tested with the blade saw, you can charge that one up too.

I took down Father G after five tries, eventually (strategy spoiler)
I used the music box 3 times in phase one by keeping tombstones between us while activating it. As soon as he began to glow for phase II I ran up the stairs at the back of the area. The tombstones become a liability. The balcony provided a long, relatively unobstructed arena to dodge around his attack strings and get hits in on his recovery. The music box can be used one more time while he's in beast form for about 4 free hits.

okay me and my friend were in the exact same place, same region settings, same password, both ringing and fucking nothing...

Press start and go to the bottom squares. Those are your quick item use slots that allow you to use an item at any time by pressing the square button, no messing around with menus required. Assign the items you want to use on short notice there. You can see the currently equipped item at the top-left near your health; press down on the D-pad to switch items.

Being aggressive while not impatient is the definitely the way to go. I've been steamrolling guys out of the gate and so far this has been the easiest From game from the start by virtue of it rewarding my preferred play style.

I really don't like that the blood vials don't replenish after death if you don't have any in reserve. It makes it so when you die on a boss, not only do you have to run all the back, but also probably have to kill a bunch of enemies to get the blood vials back before the boss encounter again.

I love it

So I left a note right after the big pig, next to the pit fall, 'Fall is effective, you've come to the right place'

It's been rated foul 5 times ahhahahahahahahahaahha.

Shoot an enemy (with L2) when he is in mid attack to stagger him, then R1 for a vicious counter attack. You'll have to practice the timing to get it right.

I feel like only SOME attacks can be staggered though. I've shot at enemies attacking me mid animation and nothing happened besides me getting hit next lol

I'm confused. I popped the disc in for the first time, and no update or install triggered. I forced it to update, which it is doing now, but nothing is installing. Does that trigger after the update?

Just found dat swag.

The way enemies hound you more than any other souls games means that's going to happen anyways. I've been killing so many enemies that I respawn with a full 20 blood vials just from my reserves.

Started playing. Around an hour in. Have enough blood echoes and thinking of buying the complete Yharnam outfit. Yay or nay?

Finally killed the second boss.

All i had to do was
parry non stop.

He killed me many times but when i finally beat him it felt so.... easy. The "souls" magic.

Hint about the second boss:
Don't use the music box. Yes, he will stand still and you can easily hit him. But he'll transform sooner.
