BSB
is the first boss to really give me trouble. I can reliably get it down to like 20, 30% by parrying him, but one mistake and I start falling behind. And once it's in full speed it's hard to keep it contained. Died four times so far.

I've killed the first two bosses with the cane. If I'm being honest, I think it's the strongest of the starting three. It has a great range nd awesome creed control and in cane form it's fast as shit. You have to gun perry like a pro to be effective with it and it feels so great.

You and I must have very different definitions of 'strongest of the starting three' because the saw cleaver attack almost just as fast and does more damage. Long range form is shittier/less useful but that's the only downside. I wasn't able to defeat first boss with cane after 3 tries, beat the boss in first try with cleaver.

Also remember that the extended version of your weapon deals greater damage to beasts, shorter does on humans at least with the cane.

Hmm i just tested what you said on a human with the kirkhammer and the longsword R2 does more damage than the big hammer R2. Sounds like you are right. I was just playing under the assumption that the big slow hammer would always bring the damage.

This game is good and I am just bad at it.

Fuck.

I just killed
darkbeast Paarl
I think it may be a sequence break.
I found him in the fourth tombstone but I have not activated the third.

Haha people talking about bosses and the first street is essentially my roadblock. Couple hours and have died more times than I care to admit already.

Fuck.

The trick is preemptively grinding before you get to a boss. Then they're all easy!

Post third boss

So GAF... who else got taken to Yahar'Gul

lmao shit was freaky. i somehow ended up where darkbeast paarl is.

The axe for example the 2H form destroys "humans" like nothing R2 -> R1 = dead if not already killed from the first hit. 1H form most def does take more "effort" so to speak to kill a human.

Could just be that the resistance type of the particular enemy you are fighting is strong against blunt attacks.

try another starting weapon. I did so and got through 2 bosses in no time.

Wow that sucks. How do you get 10? I used like 2 summoning others already :-/

You get 4 from defeating bosses, and there are items that give you 1 insight. It might take you longer to be able to be summoned, just stop summoning people if possible. The reward is worth it. Unlimted insight.

shit this game is destroying me. have about 6 hours logged and i just now beat the first boss after my tenth or so attempt. absolutely loving it.

That's what happened with me. The enemies in the other parts of that area are insane. I killed them, but it was really hard. I have only taken down three bosses, well four now I killed him.

Having played every other souls game, but having never really used co-op much, HOT DAMN having another player makes this game a breeze. I died a few times against the second boss, so I figured, "hell, why not try to summon someone." It took a while and I couldn't tell if it was going to work or not, so I decided to screw it and fight the boss. But then once I went into the fog the summon showed up. Between the two of us the AI had no idea what to do. I got to hit him with my two handed charge attack as many times as I wanted. We almost killed him without him
going into his second form. He was only in second form for one hit then he was done.

It was fun, though. Sometimes it's nice to steamroll a boss.

The trick is to keep killing the same shit again and again because I don't really have a handle on the controls or enemy behaviors so I just lose a half hour to an hour of progress because I can't find another goddamn save point.

interesting, I for some reason thought you had killed the second boss. It's in the same area as him.

It is? Is it past the second boss? I decided to backtrack a bit after progressing after there, as the day was slowly turning to night. Perhaps she's after him, or can I fight her before I can fight him?

I guess my final question before heading to bed is if we have a clear answer on what the trick form of the weapons have an advantage on. My understand is that:

basic form- less range but more DPS

transformed form- more range, can easily hit multiple people, but less dps.

Is this right or am I missing something obvious?

And of course I have to start over because I'm not satisfied with the way my character looks.

Oh well, haven't even beat the first boss yet, I can catch up quickly.

Any recommendation for a complete newbie? Never touched a souls game before so I'm getting my harsh introduction

After you speak to the woman in the door asking if you found another place for her to live, there is an area you can get to if you break barrels. If you drop down slowly, theres another door that leads outside and theres a man out there with a beak mask on.

He's hard as fuck.

Yep. I came upon a note right before his area saying something like "friend ahead". I instinctively attacked him of course but was saddened to see a three hit combo not move his health bar a sliver.

Ugh, really starting to dislike the combat system. Lack of shield has had a negative impact on combat imo.

Second boss, whatever the fuck his name is, I don't see how I'm supposed to fight him properly, like at all. Dude just non stop bumrushes me. And I'm already out of bullets for trying to "parry" him after 2 tries. And I'm not gonna fucking farm 20 bullets for each try...

Did anyone else get stuck between those shelves in Central Yharnam near the
wheelchair man with gun
enemy? I made it through the entire level without dying and got stuck there. I was pissed until I was able to get out with some weird combination of running, jumping, and rolling.
