Right around
Old Yharnam
the game becomes substantially easier. Not because of enemy design but just due to the amount of souls they drop. I wasn't even trying to grind but every time I looked at my souls counter I was getting to 8 k in like ten fifteen minutes.

Other things scale up as well, like the cost of some consumables on the vendor as well as the amount needed to level. I need 13k for just one level now and 1 hp pot costs over 500 for me.

Which starter weapon is the best ? What do you think ?

I have chosen the Level 4 char..But i couldnt level her up yet...Where can i do that ?

Okay, thanks. Do i get anything special from that fight?

Dunno, lol. He's killed me 3 times. He's top of my shit list for this evening. I think there is a lantern, though. Not sure.

Played about 3 hours last night...haven't even gotten to the first boss yet, duel werewolves on the bridge were handing me my ass...died at least 4 times to them.

If you want to cheese: Throw pebble and run back to house. They cannot go in door. Stand in door and kill them. No shame when you have blood echos on the line.

You're gonna need about 8k echoes to level soon enough.

I understand the shortcut for the first lantern to 1st boss. Anyone having problems you can
smash crates to the left of the house with the laughing women and drop down into a whole section where you can go one way to open the gate next to the lantern and the other to go to the house where the second floor puts you on the bridge between the werewolves and brickman.

Is there a lamp closer to the Father what'sit in the graveyard. I open all the shortcuts but I don't want to travel all that way each time I screw this up.

Came back after upgrading cane to +3 and levelling to 17, beat cleric beat. Shame I lost 7000 souls but oh well

I then went on to beat Father G on my first attempt. We're back, baby

Yes! I played for about 2/3 hours yesterday and this guys kept killing me over and over I decide to horde some blood echoes and bought the yharman armor, will try again tonight.

Also any advice for this two werewolves is greatly appreciated.

I thought it was funny that I killed the first werewolf no problem then had trouble with the later ones. I bet they are really easy if you just go for backstabs.

Also goddamn this thread moves fast. Anyone know what's up with the kirkhammer?

I got the Kirkhammer and I love that it's got the tried-and-true Souls longsword moveset. I also like great maces in souls games so I figured it'd be the perfect weapon for me...but the hammer form does terrible damage! What am I doing wrong here? The sword mode hits much harder on most enemies. The only thing the hammer has been any good for is smooshing those crows. I've noticed that the fully charged R2 slam sometimes does over 250 damage but sometimes does less. Are some enemies resistant to blunt damage, or what?

I also feel like I'm shaky on the fundamentals of gun counterattacks. I find they work amazingly well on certain attacks - like when the big guys charge at you. But other times they're unreliable. Do I want to counter early or late in the animation? Does the starter pistol just have a crappy window for parrying in exchange for better range, or is my timing off? Is the repeater better for this?

Also, getting ripostes off on the first boss was really inconsistent and frustrating too but I felt obligated to try. It seemed like I could always get him once early on but afterwards no dice.

So I'm a family man/father. My gaming time is limited to a hour or so a night. Bloodborne has been so enthralling, so captivating, so intense, that I've been staying up way later then I have any right to be and I'm convinced I'm played more hours in Bloodborne now then I have slept over the last few days. The addicttion is real, but the game is just that damn good. My sleep time is being sacraficed for the blood, and I can't stop.

Played with a buddy of mine last night, already had a early death that was just painful. Made it to the second boss before the first, rolling with no issues whatsoever, go back because I want to knock out the first boss first... hadn't come across a lantern since the beginning. Then a normal, run of the mill guy pops out - stun, knockdown, stun, dead. About an hour, hour and a half away. Ended up losing everything on the next run.

Love this game so far!

If you use the starting lattern (not the hospital one) and take the elevator down you can run by just about everyone...just keep that circle button held down. I had to fight him 3 times and the only time I got in combat on the way to him was the group on the bridge where the
ball of fire is

Welp. Now I understand why it took some reviewers 20 hours and some over 60 to beat this.

I was stuck at the intro area for about 3 hours last night. Pretty sure a better player could clear it in 15 minutes. Had problems adjusting to the speedier combat and more aggressive enemies. Cleric beast destroyed me, but at least I unlocked a shortcut. Hopefully I can progress some more tonight.

Played DeS/DS/DS2, and my muscle memory killed me more than once. I kept pressing L1 instinctually and instead of blocking, I transformed the weapon which messed up the whole flow of combat and lead to many (many) deaths. I have to retrain myself to not do that.

So I just figured out that you can heal. Suddenly the first area went from being hell to being manageable.

Also can you stack bullets and vials? After I die I always start with 20, makes me think you can go above that but during the "level" you can only use 20 and everything above that gets saved for later.

Need to play this but not going to get to it till late april or so.

Enjoy people! Hope it is as good as From softwares previous games.

Its stores them in your storage and tops them up if you die.

yes, anything over 20 you get , gets saved to your inventory in HD, but that has a limit too

Well I tried exploring around as I want to level up before trying cleric beast again.

Found a saw spear and explored an area among roof tops etc. I managed to open a gate which was closed before as well.

I can now upgrade a weapon. Is saw spear a better bet than saw cleaver to take out the cleric beast?

Where's the saw spear? After work today I want to find that and the Hunter's Outfit. I was in the sewer already but ran through really fast , haha.

You need 1 "insight" (litte eye with a zero under you blood echo counter). You can either find an item in the area which gives you one or encounter a boss (you get 1 insight no matter if you die). Then you have access to the before lifeless doll and the house in the hunters dream.

The blood on the ground of fallen allies also works about 1 out of every 10 times I click on them. If this is a mechanic designed to assist players, it needs to actually function.

I think you're looking at this mechanic wrong. I think it serves more as a reminder that people have died there, and for you to look out for whatever creature is hiding around the corner. Viewing the actual animation won't give you an upper hand or anything, as you can't even see the enemy animation. Simply seeing the pools of blood on the ground without actually viewing the Specters is probably all you need.

Not saying that viewing them shouldn't be fixed or anything, but just letting you know that they're usefulness is overrated.

Yup, over 20 they go to your crate. If you die they will start you off with 20 (provided you have them stored)

Wait- so if I have 20 health potions, and then I pick one up- its automatically saved into my storage in HD? Like I don't have to do anything special to make that happen?

Use oil and then try burning them with bombs. Should go down easily.

I did get past them, used the molotovs, even after I figured it out, they killed me a couple more times because I had poor timing and would get stuck in a duel combo chain...used the stairs to bottleneck them to finally kill them and open up the short cut.

They're brutal, but you don't need to kill them to get to the first boss.

SOB!

Did you open the shortcut
at the top of the tower in the town area with the werewolves on the way there? There is a drop down point directly right of the lamp that should take you 20 seconds or so to run there.

Correct. Your item indicator on your HUD goes blue when they are going into storage.

EDIT: Beaten with a whip cane.

Parrying the big dudes makes you feel so badass.

Not sure if this has been covered in the OT, but does anyone know if pressing the Share button "pauses" the game. I know you can't truly "pause" any Souls game, but it'd be convenient if Share suspended the game.

It doesn't. I tried taking a snap of the boar and got consequently bodied.

Things like this are the source of most of my deaths. The "queueing" of moves is different, and some of thecontrol changes will take me a while to get used to...stopped counting how many blood vials I already wasted while trying to two-hand my axe. >,<
